What the terms permit—and what they restrict
ScreenshotMachine’s terms and conditions say users may view, download, and modify screenshots captured using the API “for personal and commercial purposes.” This permission concerns the resulting screenshots.
The same terms separately say users must not use the website for purposes related to marketing without ScreenshotMachine’s express written consent. The terms also describe the service as an online webpage-capture and image-storage service provided by Devtica s.r.o. Because the commercial-output permission and marketing restriction address different things, permission to use a screenshot commercially should not be treated as blanket permission to use the service for marketing-related activity.
The terms page displays a last-updated date of July 22, 2020, and says the terms may be revised. Check the current terms and get written clarification if the marketing restriction could apply to your use.

Is the free option enough for commercial use?
The ScreenshotMachine homepage advertises a free screenshot API trial and says no credit card is required. The reviewed official materials do not state the trial’s quota or duration, establish unlimited free access, or resolve every commercial-use scenario. Treat “free trial” as a trial offer, not a promise that a production workload can run free indefinitely.
For a business workflow that is not marketing-related, the terms’ commercial-use permission for captured screenshots is relevant. Whether the trial’s access and limits suit that workflow is a separate question; verify the current offer before relying on it.

What “ScreenshotMachine CLI” means in the official material
The official API documentation describes an HTTP GET API, provides a curl command-line example, and says a customer key is required after signup. The reviewed materials do not establish a distinct official product or license named “ScreenshotMachine CLI.”
ScreenshotMachine’s GitHub organization lists API code examples, including a bash/curl repository. Its Node.js example repository labels the example code MIT licensed. That license applies to the repository’s code; it does not determine the hosted API service’s terms or grant commercial access to the service.

How to decide for your workflow
- Commercial output, not marketing: The terms permit commercial use of screenshots captured through the API. Confirm that your planned API access fits the current terms and trial or paid limits.
- Marketing-related use: The terms require express written consent for marketing-related use of the website. Ask ScreenshotMachine for written confirmation before proceeding.
- Distributing a CLI tool: The official material reviewed documents curl/API usage, not a separate CLI product license. If you mean packaging or redistributing a command-line program, clarify the applicable code and service permissions with ScreenshotMachine.
When asking, describe what you will capture, how the screenshots will be used, whether the workflow is marketing-related, and whether you will distribute a client tool. This helps distinguish permission for screenshot output from permission to use the service in a particular way.
