No. A OnePlus phone is not a Samsung phone: OnePlus and Samsung are separate phone brands. Both make Android phones, which is why they may share familiar apps and features, but they use different brand names and software interfaces. OnePlus’s product comparison lists OnePlus models such as the OnePlus 13 and 13R, while Samsung’s Android interface is called One UI and OnePlus’s is called OxygenOS.

Why OnePlus and Samsung phones can seem similar

Both brands sell Android phones. Android is the underlying mobile operating system, so devices from different manufacturers can share core functions, app compatibility and some interface conventions. That shared foundation does not make OnePlus a Samsung brand or mean Samsung makes OnePlus phones.

OnePlus’s phone comparison page identifies its products under the OnePlus name. The company’s About page also presents OnePlus as its own brand. These sources establish the brand distinction, but they do not establish a complete current corporate ownership chain.

What differs: One UI and OxygenOS

Samsung calls its Android interface One UI; OnePlus calls its OxygenOS. A comparison by Android Authority tested a OnePlus 12 running Android 14 with OxygenOS 14.0.0.604 EX01 against a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra running Android 14 with One UI 6.1. The comparison described One UI as offering many options and noted that OxygenOS had moved away from its earlier stock-Android-like approach. It also found customization in areas such as always-on displays on both systems.

Those are observations about those devices and software versions, not a guarantee about every OnePlus or Samsung phone or later software release. The comparison does not establish which interface is better for every user.

What to compare when choosing a phone

If you are deciding between the brands, compare specific models rather than treating either lineup as one phone. A useful comparison should line up phones in a similar price tier and region, then check:

  • Price and regional availability
  • Camera performance
  • Battery life and charging
  • Display size and characteristics
  • Software features and the experience you prefer
  • The update commitment for each exact model

The available information here does not provide current head-to-head measurements or verified support-duration figures, so those should be checked for the specific models under consideration.
