Yes. AION 2 is free to play in its Global version, so you do not need to buy the game to start. NC also offers optional monthly membership, paid cosmetics and a Battle Pass. The official Global materials reviewed do not establish current prices for those purchases, so there is no confirmed Global price to quote.
What does it cost to start playing AION 2?
The Global game has no required purchase price. NC’s Launch FAQ, published October 5, 2026, says AION 2 is free to play with an optional monthly membership. Steam also classifies AION 2 as free to play.
That means the cost to begin is $0 for the game itself; it does not mean every feature or item is free. Purchases inside the game are optional, and membership is not described as a requirement to play.
What optional purchases does NC list?
NC names three categories in its Global FAQ: membership, a Battle Pass and paid cosmetic items. The FAQ describes the membership as monthly and says it provides access to the player-driven economy and currency exchanges.

These are the terms NC publishes for the Global version. The available official materials do not establish the current Global prices for membership, the Battle Pass or cosmetics. NC’s FAQ links to a monetization notice, but that page did not provide readable pricing information. Do not assume older prices from Korea or Taiwan, creator estimates, or currency conversions are Global prices.
Is AION 2 subscription based?
No subscription is required to start playing: NC calls the game free to play and the monthly membership optional. The practical distinction is that membership is tied to access to the player-driven economy and currency exchanges. Whether that access matters to you depends on how you want to play; NC’s FAQ does not say membership is mandatory for the game as a whole.

Are there free launch rewards?
NC’s official site announced an October 5, 2026 launch and a time-limited offer of two free mounts. To qualify, players had to create an account by December 2, 2026, at 3:30 PM JST, and claim the rewards by December 9, 2026, at 3:30 PM JST. These were launch-promotion conditions, not a permanent part of the free-to-play offer. Check the official AION 2 site for current availability.

NC’s June 26, 2026 announcement about streamlining membership offerings described consolidating three previous membership tiers into one Special Quai Membership, with improved benefits at a reduced price. It did not state a dollar amount and predates the Global launch FAQ, so it does not establish the current Global price.
