There is no single support period for Android phones. It depends on the manufacturer and exact model. As of October 4, 2026, Google promises seven years of operating-system and security updates for Pixel 8 and later, while Samsung promises seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates for the Galaxy S26 series. Apple’s current iOS 26 compatibility list covers iPhone 11 and later families and iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later, but Apple’s cited sources do not give every iPhone a fixed-duration update guarantee.
How the current update policies compare
These policies are not identical kinds of evidence: Google and Samsung state support periods for specified phone cohorts, while Apple’s list shows which models currently support iOS 26. Compare the exact model, the kind of update covered, and when its support clock starts.
| Phone or model group | OS updates | Security updates | Start point and qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| iPhone 11 and later families; iPhone SE (2nd generation) and later | Apple lists these models as compatible with iOS 26; the list does not specify a fixed future duration. | A fixed support duration is not stated in the cited compatibility source. | Current compatibility snapshot. See Apple’s iOS 26 compatibility list and its iOS 26 announcement. |
| Google Pixel 8 and later | 7 years of OS updates. | 7 years. | Counted from first availability on the Google Store in the US. See Google’s Pixel update policy. |
| Google Pixel 6 and 7 families; original Pixel Fold | 5 years of OS updates. | 5 years. | Counted from first availability on the Google Store in the US. The same policy lists Pixel 5a and earlier as no longer receiving Android version or security updates. See Google’s Pixel update policy. |
| Samsung Galaxy S26 series | 7 generations of OS upgrades. | 7 years. | Counted from global launch. The commitment is for the S26 series, not every Galaxy phone. See Samsung’s Galaxy S26 announcement. |
| Select Samsung Galaxy devices covered by the 2022 announcement | Up to 4 generations of One UI and Android OS upgrades. | Up to 5 years. | Applies to select devices, not all Samsung models or the S26 series. See Samsung’s 2022 announcement. |
What “software updates” means
Major operating-system upgrades
An OS upgrade brings a new major version of the phone’s operating system and may add features or change how parts of the interface work. Google states its Pixel support in years of OS updates; Samsung describes the S26 commitment as generations of OS upgrades. Those wordings should not be treated as proof that every update arrives on the same date across devices.
Security updates
Security updates address vulnerabilities and can continue on a different schedule from major OS releases. Google and Samsung specify security support separately in their published policies. When choosing a phone, check both the OS-upgrade commitment and the security-update period rather than assuming one implies the other.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Why “iPhone versus Android” has no single winner
Android is used by phones from multiple manufacturers, and Google directs owners of non-Pixel Android devices to their manufacturer or carrier for update information. A seven-year Pixel or Galaxy S26 commitment cannot be generalized to every Android phone. Samsung’s mobile security information also cautions that update availability and timing vary by model, network provider, and market; its Mobile Security scope information is useful for checking coverage.
For Apple, the available evidence supports a narrower statement: the listed iPhones support iOS 26. That is a present compatibility snapshot, not a promise about how many future years every iPhone will receive upgrades or security fixes. To compare a particular iPhone with a particular Android phone, check the iPhone’s latest compatible iOS version and security-update status alongside the Android model’s published policy.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
How to check the support remaining on a phone
- Find the exact model. Use the model name or number in the phone’s settings or purchase listing; a family name alone may not identify the applicable policy.
- Check the manufacturer’s policy for that model. For Pixel phones, consult Google’s update policy. For Samsung, check the model-specific information and security-update scope. For iPhone, check Apple’s current iOS compatibility list.
- Identify the support clock’s starting point. Google’s cited Pixel periods begin at first availability on the Google Store in the US; Samsung’s S26 period begins at global launch. Check the model’s date against that starting point.
- Confirm region and carrier details. Samsung says availability and timing can vary by model, provider, and market. Google says Pixel updates roll out gradually and may depend on carrier and device.
- Check the phone’s current update status. A policy states what support is expected for an eligible model; it does not establish which update a particular handset has already received.
What to check when buying used or refurbished
A published support term starts at the manufacturer’s stated reference date, not when a later owner buys the phone. A used device has already spent part of that period. Work out the remaining time from the exact model’s first-availability or launch date, then verify its current OS compatibility and security-update status before buying.
For Android phones outside the Pixel and Galaxy S26 examples, the available policies here do not establish a universal duration. Ask the manufacturer or carrier about the exact model, market, and security support. Samsung’s older announcement of up to four OS generations and up to five years of security updates for select devices illustrates why a policy for one generation should not be applied to another.

No. Google says Pixel updates roll out gradually and may depend on carrier and device. Samsung likewise warns that timing varies by model, network provider, and market. A stated support period is not a guarantee of same-day delivery to every handset.
