Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesThe key difference is that “Taptic Engine” is Apple’s name for haptic hardware, while Core Haptics is the iOS framework apps use to create custom feedback. Android uses platform vibration APIs that work with actuators in a wide range of devices. Both platforms can produce more than a simple buzz, but the names describe different layers—and neither platform can be declared universally better based on documentation alone.
What does “Taptic Engine” mean?
Apple uses “Taptic Engine” to refer to haptic hardware in supported iPhones. Core Haptics is separate: it is a software framework that lets apps compose and play custom haptic patterns, optionally with audio. Apple describes the haptic engine as the connection between an app’s pattern and the underlying haptic device. Apple’s Core Haptics documentation
So, the Taptic Engine is not another name for the API. One is hardware branding; the other is a set of tools developers can use to request haptic output.
How Android haptics work
Android provides platform APIs for requesting vibration and haptic feedback. Android devices contain vibration actuators, but the hardware and supported capabilities vary by device. Developers can use APIs for effects such as waveforms and timeline compositions, while checking what the device supports and choosing fallbacks where necessary. Android’s haptics documentation

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
That variety matters: “Android haptics” does not refer to one actuator or one fixed tactile experience. A particular phone’s hardware and software support shape what an app can produce.
What kinds of feedback can apps create?
Both platforms support patterns richer than a basic vibration. Apple documents transient events, which are brief and distinct, and continuous events, which last over time. Core Haptics also provides adjustable parameters such as intensity and sharpness, and patterns can include audio content. Developers can define patterns in AHAP files.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Android’s documented options include custom vibration effects, waveforms, envelope waveforms, and timeline compositions. These API capabilities show that developers on both platforms have tools for shaping feedback; they do not mean the physical output will feel identical across platforms or devices.
| Comparison | iPhone | Android |
|---|---|---|
| Hardware | Apple-branded Taptic Engine on supported iPhone models; check Apple’s device documentation for a particular model. | Vibration actuators whose capabilities vary by device; check the device maker’s specifications. |
| Developer tools | Core Haptics for custom patterns, including transient and continuous events and adjustable parameters. | Platform vibration and haptics APIs, including custom effects and compositions, subject to device support. |
| Compatibility approach | Apple documents checking haptic hardware capabilities. | Android guidance emphasizes checking device support and providing fallbacks. |
Why can the same action feel different?
The API is only part of the experience. The actuator in a specific phone, its supported capabilities, and the pattern an app requests all affect the result. An Android app may need to account for differences among devices; an iPhone app also needs to consider whether the relevant hardware capability is available.

System feedback and app feedback can overlap. Apple says supported iPhone models can provide automatic haptic feedback for interface elements such as switches, sliders, and pickers. Apps can also request predefined or custom patterns. Apple’s haptics design guidance

There is no platform-wide verdict supported by these implementation documents. They explain APIs, design guidance, and compatibility considerations—not controlled sensory tests of current phones. Android’s hardware varies across models, so a useful comparison needs to name the specific iPhone and Android phones being compared and rely on direct, clearly described testing.

When designing haptics, Apple recommends consistency and a clear relationship between an action and its feedback. Its guidance describes intensity as strength and sharpness as a way to convey qualities such as soft or crisp. Android likewise directs developers to haptic design principles and accessibility guidance. These are design goals, not proof that every app or device will feel the same.
