To remove a saved iPhone hotspot from a device that joined it, forget the Wi-Fi network on that joining device. If you mean a list of devices that previously connected to Personal Hotspot on the iPhone providing it, Apple’s public guide does not document a history screen or a way to delete such a record.

First, identify which hotspot history you mean

“Hotspot history” can refer to a saved Wi-Fi network on a joining device, or to past devices that connected to the iPhone sharing its connection. These are different: the saved network is removed on the device that joined, while the iPhone providing Personal Hotspot has access controls but no past-connection deletion option documented in Apple’s guide.

Forget a hotspot network on the device that joined

  1. On the device that connected to the hotspot, open Settings > Wi-Fi.
  2. Tap Edit to view known networks.
  3. Tap the information button next to the hotspot network.
  4. Tap Forget This Network and confirm if prompted. See Apple’s instructions for forgetting a Wi-Fi network.

This removes the saved network and password from that device. It does not make the hotspot undiscoverable nearby; the device can detect it and join again if the user provides the credentials. Managed or supervised devices may not offer the forget option. If devices share an Apple Account with iCloud Keychain enabled, forgetting a network on one device can also cause it to be forgotten on the others.

Change the password to control future hotspot access

On the iPhone providing Personal Hotspot, change the Wi-Fi password in Settings to change the credentials used for future joins. Apple documents password changes as part of managing Personal Hotspot. This changes access credentials; it is not a documented way to erase a past-connection record.

Apple iPhone 14, 128GB, Midnight - Unlocked (Renewed)
  • This phone is unlocked and compatible with any carrier of choice on GSM and CDMA networks (e.g. AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon, US Cellular, Cricket, Metro, Tracfone, Mint Mobile, etc.).
  • Please check with your carrier to verify compatibility.
  • The device does not come with headphones or a SIM card. It does include a generic (Mfi certified) charging cable.
  • Tested for battery health and guaranteed to have a minimum battery capacity of 80%.

Why Reset Network Settings is not a history-only fix

Reset Network Settings is broader than forgetting one hotspot. Apple says it resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings used before. Treat it as a troubleshooting step for network problems, not a selective cleanup for hotspot history. Apple outlines its scope in its Personal Hotspot troubleshooting guidance.

Saved Wi-Fi passwords are not a connection log

Apple says iOS 16 and later can show saved Wi-Fi passwords, and iOS 18 includes a Wi-Fi section in the Passwords app. That feature helps inspect saved credentials; it does not establish that the hotspot-providing iPhone has a user-accessible record of past connections. See Apple’s guide to finding saved Wi-Fi passwords.

Apple’s reviewed public support material does not specify whether iOS keeps a complete host-side record of every past Personal Hotspot connection, how long any such data may be retained, or a control for deleting it. Do not treat forgetting the network on a joining device or changing the password as deletion of a provider-side record.
