Neither stock is an evidence-based automatic winner from the available operating results alone. Intel reported strong growth in its data-center business, alongside a loss-making foundry segment. Marvell reported concentrated data-center exposure and hyperscaler design wins, but those wins do not guarantee future revenue or margins. Which is the better buy depends on the price you pay, cash generation, investment needs and your tolerance for execution and customer risks—factors these results do not settle.
What the latest reported results show
Intel’s Q2 2026 results and Marvell’s Q4 FY2026 data-center figures, reported in its 2026 proxy statement, refer to different fiscal periods and differently defined businesses. Their revenue figures should not be treated as a like-for-like comparison of scale, profitability or AI sales.
| Company and measure | Reported figure | What it tells investors |
|---|---|---|
| Intel Data Center and AI (DCAI), Q2 2026 | $6.3 billion in revenue, up 59% year over year (Intel Q2 2026 results). | A strong quarter for Intel’s server-related business; DCAI is not a pure-play measure of AI revenue. |
| Intel Foundry, Q2 2026 | $5.8 billion in revenue, up 31% year over year (Intel Q2 2026 results). | Revenue growth did not mean the segment was profitable: Intel reported a $2.1 billion operating loss for the quarter (Intel Q2 2026 Form 10-Q). |
| Marvell data center, Q4 FY2026 | $1.651 billion in revenue, 74% of net revenue, up 21% year over year (Marvell 2026 proxy statement). | Data-center infrastructure is a substantial part of Marvell’s business, but this percentage and Intel’s DCAI figure use different segment definitions and periods. |
How Intel’s AI exposure differs
Intel combines server products with a manufacturing business. That gives investors two distinct potential sources of growth: selling data-center products and attracting business to Intel Foundry. They also bring different questions: whether product growth earns sustainable profits, and whether foundry operations can compete while absorbing the costs of manufacturing investment.
Server growth has a profitability context
Intel’s Q2 2026 Form 10-Q says DCAI operating income increased by $1.8 billion year over year. The company attributed the increase primarily to $1.7 billion in higher product profit, related mainly to higher server revenue. That supports the view that the quarter’s server strength reached operating income; it does not establish that the same growth or profit level will persist.

Foundry revenue is not yet evidence of a profitable business
Intel Foundry recorded a $2.1 billion operating loss in Q2 2026, compared with a $3.2 billion loss in Q2 2025. Intel said the comparison was primarily affected by lower period charges. The reported loss narrowed, but the segment remained loss-making, and the change should not be read by itself as proof that the underlying business has reached profitability.
Intel announced Xeon 6+, which it described as its first server-class product on Intel 18A. Its CFO, Dave Zinsner, said the company was meaningfully increasing investment in equipment, clean-room space and substrates to support expected growth across products and foundry. That is management’s outlook and spending plan, not an independent forecast of returns.

How Marvell’s AI exposure differs
Marvell is more concentrated on data-center infrastructure, including high-speed interconnect, switching and custom silicon. Its proxy statement reported design wins at all four U.S. hyperscalers. Those wins indicate customer engagement, not confirmed shipment volumes, durable revenue or a particular margin.
The same proxy described a strategic partnership announced with NVIDIA on March 31, 2026, and an associated $2 billion investment by NVIDIA in Marvell. Marvell presented the arrangement as an expected source of new revenue opportunities. Those opportunities are forward-looking; the proxy does not make them realized incremental revenue.

What could undermine either investment case?
Intel: execution, cost and capital requirements
Intel’s reported growth must be weighed against the costs and execution demands of manufacturing investment, product mix and foundry operations. Lower period charges influenced the year-over-year comparison of foundry losses. The company’s FY2025 Form 10-K also describes government arrangements involving funding, shares and warrants; their consequences for funding, dilution or control depend on the complete terms, so investors should read those disclosures rather than infer an effect from the headline alone.
Marvell: customer insourcing and faster product cycles
Marvell’s Q2 FY2027 Form 10-Q warns that advances in AI could disrupt its business model and adversely affect results. It identifies two related risks: large cloud providers and other technology companies may develop custom chips in-house, reducing demand for third-party products; and AI-enabled design efficiencies may accelerate product cycles, strain development resources and raise the risk that inventory becomes obsolete. These are disclosed scenarios, not evidence that a specific customer has stopped buying from Marvell.

What to check before deciding which stock is a better buy
Operating momentum is only one part of a stock decision. Before comparing Intel and Marvell at a specific date, use current filings and market data to assess:
- Valuation: compare each company’s share price with an appropriate measure of earnings or cash flow, while accounting for differences in business mix and profitability. The reported operating figures above do not establish which stock is cheaper.
- Cash conversion and investment: check whether operating results convert into sustainable free cash flow and how much capital expenditure each company needs to pursue its plans.
- Customer and program exposure: examine how much revenue depends on a limited number of customers or programs, and whether announced design wins turn into shipments and recurring business.
- Balance-sheet capacity: assess each company’s ability to fund investment and manage obligations without relying on assumptions not supported by its disclosures.
- Your time horizon and risk tolerance: decide whether you are comfortable with Intel’s foundry execution and investment demands or Marvell’s exposure to customer insourcing and changing design cycles.
The cited results do not provide a synchronized valuation comparison, current share prices, a complete independently verified estimate set or enough information to determine which company will generate more future cash. Those gaps matter: a stronger operating story can still be a poor stock purchase if its price already assumes too much.
