Intel is the clearest alternative to Nvidia and AMD for a desktop graphics card: its Arc line is a discrete GPU range aimed at gaming, content creation, and professional applications. Moore Threads and Innosilicon also list GPU products, while Imagination Technologies supplies GPU designs that other manufacturers can integrate. These are different kinds of alternatives, and a product listing does not guarantee local availability or make a specialist accelerator a suitable gaming card.

What counts as a GPU maker?

The answer depends on whether “makes GPUs” means designing a graphics processor, selling a complete graphics card, building an integrated GPU into a processor or system-on-chip, or licensing GPU designs to other companies. Those roles overlap in the broader industry, but they are not interchangeable for someone choosing a desktop card.

  • Discrete GPU designer: designs a separate graphics processor or product family, which may be sold on a graphics card.
  • Board maker: assembles or sells a card using a GPU designed by another company. A card brand is not necessarily a separate GPU silicon designer.
  • Accelerator vendor: offers GPU hardware aimed at workloads such as AI, scientific computing, rendering, or servers. It may not be intended or supported for ordinary PC gaming.
  • GPU IP supplier: licenses GPU designs for other manufacturers to integrate into their products; this is not the same as selling a retail graphics card.

For add-in graphics cards, Nvidia and AMD dominated the market in one historical snapshot: Jon Peddie Research estimated that about 9.5 million cards shipped in 2Q2024, with Nvidia-based cards accounting for about 88% and AMD-based cards about 12%, as reproduced in a 2024 HKEX filing. Those figures describe that quarter’s add-in-card market, not all GPU categories or current market share. (2024 HKEX filing)

Which companies besides Nvidia and AMD make discrete GPUs?

Intel: the most direct desktop alternative

Intel’s Arc is its discrete GPU line for gaming, content creation, and professional applications. That makes Arc the clearest additional option to investigate if you want a desktop graphics card rather than an IP license or a specialist compute product. Check Intel’s current model lineup, driver support, price, and stock in your country before choosing a card; the existence of the product line alone does not establish current regional availability or value. Moore Threads: cards and accelerators with varied targets

Moore Threads’ catalog lists MTT graphics cards and accelerators for uses including AI training and inference, rendering, video, display, and other compute workloads. It lists the MTT S80 with PCIe Gen5 x16, 16 GB of memory, and support for DirectX, OpenGL, Vulkan, and OpenCL. These are manufacturer specifications; they do not establish independent gaming performance, broad availability outside the company’s target market, or compatibility with a particular game or application. (Moore Threads product catalog)

Innosilicon: GPU products across several markets

Innosilicon lists Fenghua 1, Fenghua 2, and Fenghua 3 as GPU products for desktop, server, embedded, and other applications. Its Fenghua 2 specification page lists PCIe 3.0 x8, support for several graphics and compute APIs, and a stated power range of 4–15 W. Treat these as company specifications, not independent test results. (Innosilicon GPU products; Fenghua 2 specifications)

Innosilicon announced Fenghua 3 on September 26, 2025, following a product event on September 22. The company positioned it for AI training and inference, scientific computing, and rendering, and made claims about memory capacity and software compatibility. Those are the manufacturer’s claims, not independently verified performance or compatibility findings. (Innosilicon’s Fenghua 3 announcement)

Lisuan Tech: an emerging gaming-card entrant

A Tom’s Hardware report dated April 29, 2026, says Lisuan Tech’s LX 7G100 received Microsoft WHQL certification and describes it as the company’s gaming card, distinct from its workstation and server models. Certification is a driver and ecosystem milestone; by itself, it does not show worldwide retail availability, a mature game library, or performance comparable to established cards. Who supplies GPU designs rather than retail cards?

Imagination Technologies: GPU IP for manufacturers

Imagination Technologies is relevant as a GPU intellectual-property supplier. Its D-Series material describes designs for manufacturers and discusses uses that include mobile devices and specialist desktop or cloud-gaming cards. This role means another company can integrate licensed GPU technology into a product; the cited material does not establish a mainstream Imagination-branded consumer graphics card. • AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
  • OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
  • Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
  • A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
  • Target workload: gaming, professional creation, AI, scientific computing, server use, and embedded systems demand different capabilities.
  • Software and drivers: confirm support for your operating system, applications, games, and required graphics or compute APIs. API support alone does not guarantee that a particular program works well.
  • Independent performance results: look for tests using the same workload and comparable settings. Manufacturer specifications and claims are not cross-vendor benchmarks.
  • Memory and system requirements: compare capacity, bandwidth, interface, power, cooling, and the compatibility requirements of the card and host system.
  • Local availability and support: verify that the exact model can be bought and serviced in your country. A listed or announced product may not be broadly sold there.
  • Price and value: compare current local prices against performance in the applications you actually use.

The available product information establishes different positioning and vendor specifications, but it does not provide a controlled independent benchmark across these companies or a current price comparison. As a result, the names above describe the broader GPU field; they do not, on their own, establish a like-for-like ranking for gaming.
