The basic workflow is to open a permitted page in Chrome or Edge, run the extension, check the detected rows and columns, correct obvious gaps or duplicates, and export the result. There is an important support caveat: Web Robots’ product page says Instant Data is no longer owned, developed, or supported by Web Robots. Check the current Chrome or Edge store listing and its privacy disclosures before installing or relying on it.
What Instant Data Scraper does—and what it does not
Instant Data is a browser extension for extracting structured information from a page you can view in Chrome or Edge. It is designed to recognize repeated patterns—such as rows in a table or similar cards in a directory—and turn them into columns and rows you can export. It is a practical starting point for small, one-off jobs such as collecting visible product details, directory entries, or research references.
It is not the same as a general-purpose crawler. A browser scraper works with the content and structure available to the extension on the page you open. It does not guarantee that it will visit every page of a site, understand every layout, load all content hidden behind interactions, or retrieve information that is not accessible in your browser session.
Web Robots’ company product page states that “Instant Data is no longer owned, developed or supported by Web Robots.” That makes current availability, maintenance, and support something to verify rather than assume. Confirm the publisher and version in the live extension store listing, review the extension’s current permissions and privacy information, and do not treat an old tutorial as proof that a particular feature still works.

How to scrape a page with Instant Data
- Choose a page you are allowed to collect from. Open the relevant table, listing, directory, or catalog in Chrome or Edge. Check the site’s terms, robots guidance, privacy obligations, and applicable law before collecting or reusing data.
- Open Instant Data and let it inspect the page. Use the extension’s current store-installed version. Its interface and labels may change; follow the prompts shown in that version rather than relying on screenshots from an older guide.
- Review the detected data. Check that each column represents one field and that the rows correspond to the records you intend to collect. Look for blank fields, repeated records, shifted values, and columns that combine multiple kinds of information.
- Remove fields you do not need. Keep only the fields relevant to your task. Fewer unnecessary columns make the export easier to inspect and reduce the amount of data you retain.
- Spot-check representative records. Compare several exported values against the page itself, including records near the top and bottom of the detected set. Pay particular attention to prices, dates, names, and links, where a shifted or incomplete value can materially change the result.
- Export the file. Instant Data’s described export formats are CSV and Excel. Use CSV for straightforward import into analysis tools or spreadsheets; choose Excel when you need a workbook. Open the exported file and verify that columns, characters, and values survived the export as expected.
- Record provenance. Save the source URL and retrieval date with the file or in a companion note. That makes it easier to audit where the rows came from and whether a later version of the page has changed.
What pages are a good fit?
No-code browser extraction is most useful when the information is already visible and repeated in a consistent pattern. Examples include a page of directory entries, a list of catalog items, a visible data table, or a research page with repeated records. Vendor material for this category also describes lead capture, pricing and market research, and compliance research as possible uses; those examples do not remove the need to check permission, privacy, and reuse rules for the particular site and data.
- Good starting point: a single page with clearly repeated rows or cards and a manageable amount of data.
- Use extra care: pages where the layout varies between records, content appears only after interaction, or important fields are loaded dynamically.
- Consider another approach: recurring jobs, large multi-page collections, or work where missed records would have operational consequences. A managed crawler or an API may be easier to monitor and repeat.
How to check an export before using it
A successful download is not proof that the extraction is complete or correct. Browser tools infer structure from a page; a visually plausible spreadsheet can still have omitted records or mismatched cells. Treat the export as a draft until you validate it.
- Headers: Confirm that each header describes the values below it and that fields have not been merged or split unexpectedly.
- Row count: Compare the number of exported records with what the page appears to show. If the page has pagination or a “load more” control, the first view may not represent the whole collection.
- Sample values: Check a mix of records against the live page. Verify prices, dates, names, and other fields where a small parsing error matters.
- Duplicates and omissions: Look for repeated entries and gaps, especially around the point where the page changes layout or loads additional results.
- Links: Open a sample of exported links and check that they point to the intended records rather than a shared or incomplete URL.
- File handling: Open the CSV or workbook and confirm that separators, special characters, and columns display correctly in the software you plan to use.
Where browser scraping can fail
Dynamic content and lazy loading
Some sites add records after the initial page render or only when you scroll. The extension may see only what has loaded in the browser at the time it inspects the page. If the page offers pagination or a load-more control, check whether the records you need are actually present before extraction. Do not assume a detected first batch is the full dataset.
Login walls and access controls
Data behind a login is subject to the account’s permissions and the site’s terms. Being able to view a page does not automatically mean you may collect or reuse its contents. An extension should not be treated as a way to bypass access restrictions.

Anti-bot checks and CAPTCHAs
Bot checks and CAPTCHAs can prevent a page from loading normally or interrupt access. Do not assume Instant Data—or any browser extension—can bypass them. Stop if the site blocks the activity, and use an approved access route if one is available.
Nested navigation and changing layouts
A directory may require opening separate pages to reach each record, and a redesign can change which elements look alike. Such jobs may require manual navigation or a different tool. Recheck the extraction whenever the site’s layout changes.
Privacy, permissions, and responsible collection
Before installing any scraper extension, inspect its current publisher, requested permissions, and privacy disclosure in the relevant browser store. Reading page content is a meaningful permission for a scraping extension because it needs access to the page it analyzes. Avoid using an unverified tool on confidential pages or sending sensitive information through a product whose handling practices you have not checked.
A separate product should not be used as evidence for Instant Data’s data practices. For example, No Code Web Scraper’s privacy policy, last updated February 2026, says that “No Code Web Scraper runs entirely in your browser,” does not collect or transmit scraped data, and stores recipes and settings locally. That statement is specific to No Code Web Scraper; it does not establish how Instant Data handles page content, settings, or exported data. Check Instant Data’s own current disclosure.

Also distinguish access from permission to reuse. Public visibility does not by itself settle whether collection or downstream use is allowed. Review the target site’s terms and robots guidance, consider privacy obligations, and apply the law relevant to your location and use case. Collect only what you need and retain the source and retrieval date.
When a different tool is a better fit
If the job is more than a small one-off extraction, compare alternatives on the capabilities that determine whether the result will be complete and maintainable:
- Page support: Can the tool handle the target’s dynamic content and repeated page structure?
- Pagination and scrolling: Does it support the specific way the site reveals additional records, and can you verify coverage?
- Selector transparency: Can you see or edit which page elements become fields? Point-and-click selection and CSS/XPath previews are features advertised by some comparison vendors, not capabilities established here for Instant Data.
- Export formats: Check whether you need CSV or Excel, or whether a workflow requires another format. Pagination and infinite-scroll handling, along with CSV, Excel, and JSON exports, are also advertised by a comparison vendor; do not assume those are Instant Data features.
- Privacy and permissions: Read the particular product’s disclosures and inspect what the installed extension can access.
- Repeatability: For recurring collection, consider whether you need scheduled jobs, monitoring, browser rendering, or delivery into a database or API. Web Robots describes managed robots, browser-rendered crawling, and delivery to databases or APIs, but confirm current product and support details directly before choosing a service.
Or skip the browser setup
ScreenshotNeo is a screenshot API and MCP server, not a structured-data scraper: it returns a screenshot or PDF of a URL rather than a CSV of extracted fields. Use it when the actual task is capturing a clean visual record of a page, not when you need to turn listings into spreadsheet rows. Its cookie-banner, popup, and chat-widget cleanup is designed to make the capture cleaner; it does not replace checking whether you have permission to collect or reuse site data.
One GET request can return an image or PDF. The API accepts common screenshot parameters, and the docs are at ScreenshotNeo API documentation.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
ScreenshotNeo removes cookie banners, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before the shot; bot checks, blank pages, and failed loads are not billed. Its MCP server lets AI agents take screenshots. The free plan includes 1,000 screenshots a month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000. See ScreenshotNeo for the product details. The extension is missing or its interface differs from a guide
Check the current Chrome or Edge store listing, confirm the listed publisher and extension identity, and review whether the extension is available in your browser and region. Because Web Robots says it no longer owns, develops, or supports Instant Data, do not assume older instructions or screenshots match the current release.
No rows or columns are detected
Confirm that the page has finished loading and that the records are visible in the browser. A page with unique layouts, content behind interaction, or dynamically loaded results may not present a consistent pattern for automatic detection. Try a simpler permitted page to distinguish a page-structure issue from an extension issue.
Some records or fields are missing
Check whether the page uses scrolling, pagination, or a load-more control, and inspect the portion of the page the extension could see. Compare several records against the source before exporting or relying on the data. If completeness remains uncertain, do not represent the export as a complete dataset.
Rows are duplicated or values appear under the wrong header
Review the inferred columns and compare the affected rows with the page. Remove irrelevant fields and re-evaluate the repeated pattern. If the page uses inconsistent cards or table sections, manual correction or a tool with editable selectors may be necessary.
The page is blocked or asks for a CAPTCHA
Do not try to evade the site’s controls. Stop the extraction and check whether the site offers an approved API, downloadable dataset, or permission route for your use.

The export does not look right in a spreadsheet
Open the file in another compatible spreadsheet program or import it with the appropriate CSV settings. Check delimiters, special characters, dates, and numeric formatting against the source rather than assuming a display problem is a data problem—or vice versa.
