WSQLite’s demonstrated bulk-insert call is db.insert_many(batch), where batch is a collection of model instances. Batching can reduce the transaction-control overhead associated with issuing writes one at a time—but the available example does not establish whether WSQLite starts a transaction, splits large batches into chunks, or rolls back the whole batch if one row fails. Check those behaviors in the documentation for your installed release before relying on them.
How to call insert_many
A WSQLite tutorial demonstrates constructing a collection of Pydantic model instances and passing it to the database object:
db.insert_many(batch)
The example creates 5,000 metric objects. That number describes the tutorial’s example batch size; it is not a performance test or a recommended batch size. The example demonstrates a call pattern, not a complete API contract. Confirm the accepted model type, collection or iterable shape, and any required database setup against the documentation for the WSQLite version you have installed. The WSQLite tutorial
Why batching can help
SQLite notes that putting multiple operations in one transaction can improve performance by avoiding transaction-control overhead after each individual operation. When writes are grouped, that overhead is spread across the group rather than paid separately for every write. This is a general SQLite principle—not evidence that WSQLite’s insert_many opens a transaction or uses any particular insertion strategy. SQLite FAQ

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
It helps to distinguish two choices that are often conflated:
- SQL shape: SQLite can insert multiple rows with one
INSERT ... VALUESstatement. If the statement specifies a column list, each values term must provide the corresponding number of values. Columns left out of the list receive their declared default, orNULLif no default is declared. SQLite INSERT documentation - Transaction scope: A transaction determines how a group of operations is committed. It is separate from whether the database executes one multi-row statement or repeatedly executes a single-row statement.
Knowing that an API is called insert_many does not tell you which SQL shape it uses or what transaction scope it applies.

How it differs from Python’s sqlite3.executemany
Python’s standard sqlite3 interface provides executemany, which repeatedly executes one parameterized DML statement using each supplied parameter item. It is not the same interface as WSQLite’s insert_many, and its documented behavior does not establish WSQLite’s internals. Python sqlite3 documentation
For direct SQL work, bind values through placeholders rather than interpolating input into SQL. With either interface, the schema and supplied row values must line up; omitted columns follow SQLite’s default-or-NULL rules.

What the available WSQLite example does not establish
The tutorial advertises 5,000+ inserts per second and mentions WAL by default and thread-safe pooling. It provides no reproducible workload or independent benchmark in the available material, so the speed figure should be treated as the article’s claim—not as a guarantee or a basis for comparing systems. Likewise, those mentions do not establish how a particular WSQLite release handles transactions, failures, or large inputs. The WSQLite tutorial

- Which model types and collection shapes the method accepts.
- Whether it starts a transaction or participates in one already in progress.
- What happens to earlier rows if a later row violates a constraint: are they retained, or is the batch rolled back?
- Whether large collections are chunked, and how the implementation handles SQLite’s variable limits if it emits multi-row statements.
- Whether it accepts an iterable or generator, or requires the entire batch in memory.
- How model fields map to columns and how omitted fields, defaults, and constraints are handled.
For performance decisions, benchmark the installed release with representative records, the actual schema and indexes, and the durability settings you plan to use. Results from a different workload—or an unqualified inserts-per-second claim—cannot predict your import’s throughput.

Implementation guidance beyond WSQLite
Microsoft’s documentation for its SQLite provider recommends using a transaction and reusing a parameterized command for repeated inserts. That is general guidance for that provider’s implementation, not evidence about WSQLite’s behavior. Microsoft.Data.Sqlite bulk insert guidance

For a large import, decide separately how rows are submitted and what should commit together. A multi-row VALUES statement and repeated execution of a parameterized statement are different SQL approaches; either still needs an intentional transaction policy. If all-or-nothing import behavior matters, confirm it with the installed library’s documentation or a targeted test that triggers a row error partway through the batch.
