Ink Console is a development-stage handheld built for interactive fiction: gamebooks, text adventures and choose-your-own-adventure stories. What is Ink Console?
Ink Console is a hybrid e-reader and game system focused on story-driven play, not a general-purpose, high-frame-rate handheld. TechSpot describes it as inspired by old text-based games and choose-your-own-adventure books. Its creator, Daniel “Dana” Puchau, said: “The idea behind the project came from a desire to bring the magic of text adventures, like the 1980s classic Zork I, to a new audience unfamiliar with these games.” (TechSpot)
It may look a little like an e-reader with controls, but the concept is more specific than putting games on a Kindle: Ink Console is being presented as a dedicated platform for gamebooks and interactive stories.
Why use e-ink for games?
E-ink refreshes more slowly than LCD or OLED, and Ink Console’s reported screen is black and white. Those traits make twitch gameplay and frequent animation a poor fit. They suit static text, simple illustrations and pages that change when a player makes a choice. In effect, the display’s limitations align with the deliberate pace of interactive fiction rather than the demands of action games.

What hardware has been reported?
Published specifications describe a 7.5-inch, 800 × 480 monochrome e-ink panel and an ESP32-D0WDQ6 dual-core 32-bit processor. The reported memory configuration is 4MB flash, 8MB PSRAM and 520KB SRAM. Coverage also lists Wi-Fi 4, Bluetooth 4.2 and an SD-card slot for content. (Time Extension)

What games does it support?
Time Extension reported three gamebooks in development: Toto Umbrella, The Visit and Breath. The device was also discussed as a platform for user-created or SDK-supported content, with titles addable through its SD-card reader. That is a development snapshot, not a confirmed final bundle or guarantee that every game will ship.
Although Zork is part of the project’s inspiration, the available coverage does not establish that Zork itself is included or that Ink Console will emulate classic computer systems. It is safest to think of the announced device as a gamebook platform rather than an emulation handheld.

Can you buy Ink Console?
The cited Notebookcheck coverage described Ink Console as crowdfunding-stage and said price and availability were still pending. It does not confirm that a finished console is now available from Amazon or another retailer.
