Why another high-scoring match is possible
The first two ODIs produced evidence for a run-heavy preview, although they do not guarantee the same pattern in the decider.

| Match | West Indies | India | Notable figures |
|---|---|---|---|
| First ODI | 295/7 | 300/2 in 41.4 overs | Shubman Gill scored 110, Virat Kohli made 139 not out, and Kuldeep Yadav took 4/40. ICC reported an eight-wicket India win. |
| Second ODI | 405/7 | 406/2 in 43.3 overs | 811 aggregate runs, calculated from the innings scores published by Cricket West Indies. Gill scored 223 not out off 133 balls; five players made centuries. ICC described India’s chase as the second-highest successful run chase in ODI history in its 30 September 2026 recap. |
India’s second-ODI chase reached the target with 39 balls remaining. The totals and quick chases make another run fest plausible, but the result will depend on conditions and performance in this match.
What Gill said at the toss
Hindustan Times’ toss coverage attributed this comment to India captain Shubman Gill: “Our bowling line-up is inexperienced, the more the play, the better.” The report also said Gill called the surface beautiful and suggested it might assist bowlers early. Those are his pre-match remarks, not a guarantee of how the pitch will play.

India’s reported changes for the decider
Hindustan Times’ live report said Nitish Kumar Reddy, Anshul Kamboj and Mohammed Siraj came into India’s side for Ravindra Jadeja, Prasidh Krishna and Auqib Nabi. The report said Krishna was ruled out after a hamstring injury in the second ODI. The official match page cited here does not display a complete XI, so these lineup and injury details are attributed to that live report.
ICC’s announced India ODI squad named Gill as captain and included Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Naman Dhir. A squad list is not the same as a confirmed playing XI.

Can India complete the whitewash?
