To run recorded classes as a repeating YouTube Live broadcast, use OBS with local video files: a Media Source loops one recording, while OBS’s VLC Video source can loop an ordered playlist. YouTube Live Control Room supplies the server URL and stream key. Because OBS sends the stream from your computer, it, the files, power and internet must stay available for a local 24/7 setup.

Before you start: YouTube Live eligibility and timing

  • Your channel must be verified and have had no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. YouTube says the streamer must be at least 16. Its first-time activation may take up to 24 hours, so enable live streaming before your planned broadcast. These are YouTube’s platform requirements; no separate India-specific exception is identified in its guidance. YouTube live-stream setup
  • You need the class recordings saved locally on the computer that will run OBS. The documented OBS method streams local files; it is not a YouTube-hosted playlist URL that YouTube converts into a live broadcast. OBS Media Sources
  • For a scheduled event, configure and test the encoder early. YouTube recommends setting it up at least two hours before the event and starting it at least 15 minutes before the scheduled time. YouTube streaming tips

Choose how to loop the recorded classes in OBS

One recording: Media Source

  1. Open OBS and add a Media Source to the scene.
  2. Choose the local class video file in the source properties.
  3. Enable Loop, then confirm the file plays and starts again when it reaches the end.

OBS’s Media Source documentation describes the loop control and other media-source options. OBS Media Sources

Several recordings: VLC Video source

  1. Install VLC if it is not already installed. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC; for 64-bit OBS, OBS specifies 64-bit VLC.
  2. In OBS, add a VLC Video source and add the local class recordings in the order you want them played.
  3. Enable Loop Playlist and check that the source advances through the files in sequence and returns to the start.

The files are played by OBS from local storage, so keep their paths and filenames stable while the broadcast is running. OBS Media Sources

Connect OBS to YouTube Live

  1. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live and create or schedule an encoder stream. Scheduling ahead gives you an upcoming watch page and lets viewers set reminders. Create a YouTube live stream with an encoder
  2. In Live Control Room, copy the stream server URL and stream key.
  3. In OBS, open Settings → Stream, choose YouTube as the service, and enter the server URL and stream key. Keep the key private: anyone with it may be able to send video to your event.
  4. Start the OBS stream and check the Live Control Room preview and stream health before the event is public or before you rely on it unattended.
  5. Confirm the event is accessible from your channel and its watch page. YouTube says starting the encoder creates a watch page; stopping the encoder ends the stream. YouTube encoder setup

Set the broadcast quality and protect the connection

Match OBS’s output to the recordings and to a stable upload connection. There is no single bitrate that fits every resolution and frame rate, so use YouTube’s current encoder recommendations for the chosen output rather than guessing. Keep upload capacity above the stream’s total bitrate: YouTube recommends 20% headroom. A network disruption can break the broadcast, and running OBS locally also makes the stream dependent on the computer and its power. Test the actual configuration and monitor stream health. For a continuous local stream, leave the computer, OBS, media files, power and internet available. This is an operational requirement of a local encoder, not a YouTube uptime guarantee.

Check rights and YouTube policy before replaying lessons

Make sure you have the necessary rights to rebroadcast every class recording and everything embedded in it, including music, images, slides and third-party audiovisual material. YouTube’s livestream terms require the content provider to have the rights needed to exploit live content, and live streams remain subject to Community Guidelines and applicable terms and laws. Know the replay and monetization limits

Do not rely on one complete 24-hour archive

YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not guarantee a complete replay for a single continuous 24-hour stream. If a complete replay matters, make a separate local recording or plan shorter sessions, then verify the current behavior in Live Control Room. YouTube encoder setup

Troubleshooting a recorded-class live stream

What you see Likely cause What to check
OBS does not show the video or playlist The selected source or local file path is unavailable, or VLC is missing for a VLC Video source. Open the source properties, confirm the file path and playback, and install the matching VLC version. A 64-bit OBS installation needs 64-bit VLC for the documented VLC source.
The playlist stops after one pass Loop Playlist is not enabled. Open the VLC Video source properties and enable Loop Playlist; test the end-to-start transition before going live.
YouTube does not receive the OBS feed The encoder is not connected, or the server URL or stream key does not match the event. Copy the current values from that event’s Live Control Room into OBS’s stream settings and inspect the preview.
The stream breaks or health warnings appear Insufficient upload headroom or a network disruption. Check stream health and the connection; YouTube recommends 20% upload bandwidth above total stream bitrate. Do not treat local streaming as guaranteed uninterrupted service.
First-time live activation is unavailable Activation may still be processing or the channel may not meet YouTube’s live requirements. Verify the channel, check restrictions in the previous 90 days and allow up to 24 hours for first-time activation.
The full 24-hour broadcast is not available as one replay YouTube’s cited automatic archive guidance covers streams under 12 hours, not a guaranteed complete archive for a continuous 24-hour stream. Keep a separate recording or use shorter sessions if a complete replay is important.

Local OBS or a cloud service?

Option Useful when Trade-off
StreamNeo — cloud-hosted YouTube streaming You want uploaded recordings looped on YouTube Live without leaving a home computer running. It is a YouTube-only service for uploaded videos, not a live camera feed. One slot is a flat price for any uploaded quality up to 4K 60fps; the first day is free with no card. Confirm the plan length and storage needs before starting.
OBS with local recordings You can keep a computer running and want direct control of local files and their order. The computer, files, power, OBS and internet must remain available; OBS’s loop controls are not a service uptime guarantee.

Or let it run in the cloud

With StreamNeo, upload your class recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live. The cloud loops the uploaded videos, so nothing has to stay on at home. It streams the files as uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, at one price per slot regardless of quality, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly service is $9.99 per month. UPI and cards are accepted in India; card checkout is available worldwide. Each slot includes 10 GB storage, pooled across active slots, plus 24/7 looping, playlists and StreamNeo team support. See plans and pricing. Start the free first day.
