To play prerecorded gaming VODs as a YouTube Live broadcast, use OBS Studio with VLC: add the videos to an OBS VLC Video source playlist, connect OBS to a YouTube Live encoder event, then test and monitor the stream. Your computer and internet connection must stay on while this local setup is broadcasting. For unattended cloud playback instead, StreamNeo runs an uploaded playlist on YouTube without keeping a computer on.
Check YouTube Live eligibility before setting up OBS
YouTube Help says a channel must be verified and must not have had a live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days; live streamers must be at least 16. First-time live-stream activation may take up to 24 hours, according to YouTube’s encoder setup guide. Check eligibility and enable live streaming well before the planned broadcast.
YouTube’s encoder method is intended for gameplay, overlays, and other advanced production. For a playlist of existing video files, OBS can send the playlist as the video source in that encoder stream.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Prepare the gaming VOD files and check rights
Keep the video files accessible on the computer that will run OBS, and confirm each file has the picture and audio you intend to broadcast. The creator is responsible for having the necessary rights for the material streamed, including applicable music rights. A game appearing in a previous VOD does not by itself establish that its footage, soundtrack, background music, or other included media is cleared for a new live broadcast. YouTube’s livestream terms also require compliance with applicable laws and regulations; they do not settle the rights status of a particular game or track in India.

Build an OBS playlist with VLC
- Install OBS Studio and VLC. OBS’s VLC Video source requires VLC to be installed; if you use 64-bit OBS, install 64-bit VLC so the architectures match.
- In OBS, select the scene that will carry the broadcast. In the Sources panel, choose + and add VLC Video. If the source is not available, check that VLC is installed and its architecture matches OBS.
- Open the VLC Video source properties and add the local VOD files to its playlist. OBS documents that this source can play multiple media items as a playlist; see OBS Media Sources.
- Choose playback behavior: OBS documents loop as on by default and shuffle as off by default. Leave loop on to repeat the playlist after its final item; enable shuffle only if you want playback order randomized.
- Apply the source settings and check the preview. Make sure the video fits the canvas and that the intended audio is present. The playlist source controls file playback; OBS still needs to remain open and outputting the scene for the YouTube broadcast to continue.
Create a YouTube encoder event and connect OBS
- Open YouTube Studio and go to the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a live event and choose the encoder workflow.
- Copy the stream connection details shown in Live Control Room and enter them in OBS’s stream settings. Treat the stream key as a credential: do not show it on screen or share it. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube Studio before streaming again.
- Start streaming from OBS. Check Live Control Room to confirm YouTube is receiving the encoder stream, then start the event there if it is scheduled or waiting for you to begin.
For the exact current connection flow, follow YouTube’s encoder setup guide. YouTube’s listed encoder options include Gyre for continuous prerecorded streaming, but that listing does not establish its current price, availability in India, or suitability for every channel.

Test the playlist and monitor stream health
Before the public broadcast, run a test using representative video motion and audio. Verify that the playlist advances as expected, loop or shuffle behaves as intended, audio is audible and sensible in level, and YouTube receives the stream. YouTube recommends testing and monitoring stream health; see its encoder settings guidance.

There is no single bitrate or resolution that can be prescribed from the available guidance for every file, computer, and internet connection. Choose settings for the quality you intend to send and the stable upload capacity available, then use YouTube’s stream-health feedback during the test rather than assuming that a setting will work for all setups.
