There is no evidence-based universal winner among integrated business planning (IBP) platforms. For SAP Integrated Business Planning (SAP IBP) buyers, Gartner Peer Insights offers a useful set of alternatives users considered; Gartner’s 2026 research also separates supply-chain planning solutions for discrete and process industries. Use those sources to build a shortlist, then test each platform against your industry, planning scope, integration architecture, and contract requirements.

What does “top IBP software” mean for a buyer?

A “top” list is best treated as a shortlist to investigate, not a ranking that predicts the best fit for every organization. Gartner Peer Insights’ SAP IBP alternatives page identifies products that users considered alongside SAP IBP. That is a discovery signal, not an independently controlled comparison of product performance.

Gartner’s two supply-chain planning Magic Quadrant abstracts, published on 18 March 2026, distinguish discrete-industry and process-industry solutions. The distinction matters: a manufacturer’s industry, operating model, regulatory context, products, and supply network can change which planning requirements deserve the most weight. The public abstracts do not provide enough detail to reproduce full feature evaluations or rank products for an individual buyer.

Accordingly, the platforms below are not ordered from best to worst. Their inclusion reflects the specific Gartner listings described here, not a conclusion that each is a direct substitute for every SAP IBP deployment.

Which IBP platforms belong on an initial SAP alternatives shortlist?

Platform What the cited evidence establishes
SAP Integrated Business Planning for Supply Chain The baseline product. SAP Help documents applications and features, including a licensing-related integration change described below.
Kinaxis Maestro Platform Listed among alternatives considered by SAP IBP users on Gartner Peer Insights.
o9 Digital Brain Platform Listed among alternatives considered by SAP IBP users on Gartner Peer Insights.
Blue Yonder Supply Chain Planning Listed among alternatives considered by SAP IBP users on Gartner Peer Insights and named in Gartner’s 2026 market abstracts.
Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain Planning Listed among alternatives considered by SAP IBP users on Gartner Peer Insights and named in Gartner’s 2026 market abstracts.
Logility Decision Intelligence Platform Listed among alternatives considered by SAP IBP users on Gartner Peer Insights. Buyers should validate fit for their processes and industry.
Unison Planning Listed among alternatives considered by SAP IBP users on Gartner Peer Insights. Buyers should validate relevant market coverage and implementation fit.
SO99+ Listed among alternatives considered by SAP IBP users on Gartner Peer Insights. Validate its fit for the intended planning scope.
Anaplan Platform Listed among alternatives considered by SAP IBP users on Gartner Peer Insights. Validate its fit for the intended planning scope.

This is not an exhaustive list of alternatives. Gartner’s page indicates additional results beyond the first displayed group represented here. The listing does not establish that each candidate covers the same processes, industries, or deployment needs as SAP IBP.

How should you compare IBP software?

Gartner describes evaluation dimensions that include product capabilities, evaluation and contracting, integration and deployment, and service and support. Turn those broad dimensions into buyer-specific requirements rather than assigning vendors a score based on reputation or review-page placement.

Industry and operating context

  • First determine whether your requirements align more closely with discrete manufacturing, process industries, or a mix of operating models.
  • Document the regulatory, product, and network conditions that affect planning decisions in your business.
  • Ask vendors for relevant customer references with a comparable industry and operating model; do not assume a market listing demonstrates a match.

Planning scope and shared decisions

Specify which demand, supply, inventory, response, and business-planning processes need to share data and decisions. Ask each vendor to demonstrate those workflows using your scenarios. The available sources do not provide a consistent feature matrix across all the listed platforms, so verify the scope in demonstrations and contract documents.

Integration, deployment, and ownership

  • Map the ERP systems and other data sources that the planning environment must work with.
  • Identify who owns planning data, integration design, migration, implementation tasks, and ongoing operational support.
  • Require a clear explanation of the deployment approach, dependencies, and responsibilities on both sides.
  • Check that the proposed architecture matches the applications and licenses in your actual contract.

Evaluation, contracting, and support

Compare implementation scope, contract terms, service levels, support model, and the cost and process for future changes. Ask vendors to state what is included and what would be handled separately; a feature demonstration alone does not settle delivery responsibilities or contractual scope.

What SAP IBP licensing and integration detail should buyers verify?

SAP’s Help Portal page, “Applications and Features of SAP Integrated Business Planning,” says SAP Cloud Integration for data services is not available with SAP IBP licenses obtained after 20 April 2026. For a license obtained after that date, confirm the integration architecture and available services directly against the specific SAP contract and current product documentation. The note concerns that named service and license timing; it should not be read as a statement that all integration options are unavailable.

For an SAP renewal, expansion, or replacement evaluation, document the existing interfaces and data flows before comparing proposals. Ask SAP and any shortlisted provider to explain how the target architecture would handle those flows, which components are included in the offer, and who is responsible for implementation and support.

How can you run a useful shortlist evaluation?

  1. Define the decision. State whether the project is a new planning environment, a replacement for SAP IBP, or a change to part of an existing landscape. Record which planning processes must be in scope.
  2. Segment requirements. Describe your industry, operating model, products, regulatory context, and supply network. Use the discrete-versus-process distinction in Gartner’s 2026 research as a starting point, not a substitute for your own requirements.
  3. Screen the shortlist. Use the platforms listed above as candidates, then ask each vendor to confirm relevant market coverage, process scope, deployment fit, and implementation responsibilities.
  4. Prepare scenario-based demonstrations. Give finalists the same use cases and, where practical, representative data. Evaluate whether the demonstration addresses your decisions and handoffs rather than relying on a generic feature tour.
  5. Check delivery evidence. Request references from organizations with a comparable industry and operating model. Ask about integration, migration, support, and changes to scope.
  6. Compare scoped proposals. Evaluate software, implementation, integration, support, contract terms, service levels, and change costs together. Publicly comparable pricing and total implementation-cost figures are not established by the sources cited here, so request buyer-specific proposals rather than relying on unsupported estimates.

Why not use review ratings as the ranking?

Gartner Peer Insights displays user-review ratings and counts, but those are review-platform aggregates, not analyst rankings or controlled cross-vendor performance tests. The alternatives page is framed around products SAP IBP users considered. Ratings and counts can change, and neither the listing nor a rating establishes that a product will fit a particular organization’s planning scope or architecture.

Use review pages to discover candidates and questions to investigate. Base the decision on requirements, scenario demonstrations, comparable references, integration and deployment plans, and negotiated contract scope.
