I built a vector editor that runs in a web browser and deliberately has no AI features. That describes the project’s scope, but not its engineering: the available project details do not establish how its document is represented, how it renders, what it can edit, or how it saves work. Those implementation choices are essential to explaining what I built, so I won’t invent them.
What “browser-based” tells you—and what it doesn’t
A browser can draw graphics with SVG, Canvas, or WebGL, but the fact that an editor runs in a browser does not identify which one it uses. Nor does it reveal whether the editable document is the same structure that appears on screen or a separate model that is rendered into pixels or markup.
That distinction matters. SVG is a text-based, XML-based standard for two-dimensional vector graphics that works with CSS, the DOM, and JavaScript. SVG files can be searched, scripted, compressed, and edited as text. Those properties make SVG a plausible foundation for a browser editor, but they are not evidence that this project uses it. MDN’s SVG overview explains the format and its relationship to the web platform.
Canvas and WebGL offer other ways to draw. Canvas can suit graphics applications, but objects drawn into it do not automatically become semantic HTML elements, which can make accessibility more difficult. MDN’s graphics guide outlines the browser’s main drawing options. Without this editor’s implementation details, it would be misleading to claim a particular rendering advantage or accessibility behavior.

The implementation details that define the editor
The most useful account of an editor begins with the decisions that determine what it can reliably do. The project facts available here do not specify these decisions, so the questions below are the right ones to answer rather than assumptions to pass off as a build story.
What is the source of truth for a document?
An editor might manipulate an SVG DOM directly, keep a separate scene graph, or maintain a custom document model and translate it to SVG for import or export. Each choice affects how edits are represented, how external SVG features are handled, and how the document stays consistent with what is displayed. The project’s authoritative representation is not established.

How does a gesture become an edit?
For a usable editor, pointer input has to connect to behaviors such as selecting an object, moving or transforming it, and editing a path. Keyboard operation and hit testing also shape whether those actions are practical. One documented editor uses pointer events on an SVG surface, but that example does not show how this project handles interaction. drawDB’s architecture notes describe its own approach, not this editor’s.

Which SVG features are supported?
“Vector editor” does not guarantee full compatibility with every SVG feature. Text, masks, clipping, and filters can involve implementation choices and partial support. The Donner SVG Editor & Engine project documents compatibility gaps and describes its own rendering backends; it is a useful reminder that feature scope should be explicit, not a basis for claims about this editor. Its supported features and import/export fidelity are not stated here.

Saving, exporting, and moving work
A browser editor’s storage behavior determines whether work survives a tab closing, a browser-data cleanup, or a move to another device. The project’s save location, recovery behavior, and export formats are not established, so it cannot be described as saving locally, syncing to a server, or supporting any particular file type.
The portability tradeoff is concrete in other browser editors: drawDB documents browser-local diagram storage and advises users to export important work before clearing browser data or moving devices. That is drawDB’s behavior, not a claim about this project. For a vector editor, readers need to know what is saved, where it lives, and how a document can be backed up or transferred.

What the no-AI boundary means
The title establishes that the editor has no AI features. It does not establish why that boundary was chosen, whether it reflects a product philosophy, a technical constraint, or simply the project’s current scope. It also does not tell us which editing workflows the editor supports. Those motivations and capabilities should not be inferred from the absence of AI.

To evaluate the editor as software rather than just a headline, readers need specifics about the design and its limits:
