2027 has the makings of a major year for Nintendo and Switch 2, thanks to a broad slate of announced games spanning several of the company’s best-known series. The optimism is grounded in real announcements—but not every title has a firm date, and Nintendo’s own sales outlook points to a strong continuation year rather than guaranteed growth.
What Nintendo games are coming in 2027?
Nintendo’s announced 2027 slate combines planned Nintendo products with games from outside publishers announced for Switch 2. Here is what has been stated as of October 3, 2026:

Why the slate makes 2027 look promising
It reaches across Nintendo’s biggest kinds of games
The announced titles cover very different tastes: Metroid’s exploration, Splatoon’s action, Fire Emblem’s strategy, Pokémon’s creature-collecting, Yoshi and Kirby’s more approachable adventures, and Star Fox. That variety matters as much as the headline names: it gives Switch 2 a chance to appeal to longtime fans and players looking for different kinds of games, rather than relying on one franchise to carry the year.
The platform’s pipeline extends beyond Nintendo’s own releases
Persona 4 Revival and Final Fantasy VII Revelation show that the announced Switch 2 schedule is broader than Nintendo-developed software. That can make the platform’s 2027 offering feel more substantial, but it is important not to mistake every game announced for Switch 2 as a Nintendo-produced or exclusive release.

There are dates as well as year-only promises
Metroid Ravenous has a specific date on Nintendo UK’s page, and several other games have month-level or broad-window timing. Those announcements make the calendar easier to picture than a slate made up entirely of untimed projects, while still leaving room for changes.
What Nintendo’s business outlook says—and does not say
Nintendo described Switch 2 as having a good start after its June 2025 launch and said it aims to maintain hardware momentum by delivering software to a wide range of consumers. For the fiscal year ending March 31, 2027—Nintendo’s FY2027, which is not the same period as calendar 2027—the company forecast 2,050.0 billion yen in net sales, 370.0 billion yen in operating profit, and 310.0 billion yen in profit attributable to owners of parent. Hardware forecast: strong, but lower than the launch year
Nintendo forecast 16.50 million Switch 2 hardware units for FY2027, compared with 19.86 million units sold in FY2026. The company attributed the expected year-over-year decline to strong launch-year sales and price revisions, while describing second-year adoption as solid. Why “could be amazing” is the right level of confidence
The case for an exceptional year rests on an unusually varied announced lineup and Nintendo’s stated aim to sustain Switch 2 momentum through software. But a promising schedule is not the same as a guaranteed result:
- Nintendo’s launch schedule says that titles and launch dates are subject to change. Nintendo’s investor launch schedule.
- Some releases have only a year or a broad window attached; Nintendo has not stated an exact date for every listed title.
- The September Direct announcements and Nintendo’s May financial outlook are separate snapshots, not one definitive, continuously updated calendar.
- Financial and hardware numbers for FY2027 are forecasts, and the hardware forecast is below the preceding fiscal year’s reported sales.
For a claim that 2027 will be Nintendo’s “best” year, a like-for-like comparison with earlier years would also be needed. The available announcements support excitement, but do not establish a historical ranking.
When Nintendo’s outlook will next be refreshed
Nintendo’s investor-relations page listed November 5, 2026 as the scheduled date for its six-month FY2027 earnings release.
