The Huawei Watch D3’s cuff-based blood-pressure system is more distinctive than the optical estimates used by many wearables. But in the review’s repeated comparisons with a Garmin Index BPM, the D3 returned lower readings—and the small comparison could not establish which device was right. That uncertainty makes the D3 difficult to recommend specifically for dependable blood-pressure readings, even though its hardware and broader smartwatch features look compelling on paper.
How the Watch D3 measures blood pressure
The D3 uses a mechanical inflatable airbag integrated into its strap, paired with a pressure sensor. That is a different approach from estimating blood pressure using optical sensors alone. Huawei describes the feature as ambulatory blood-pressure monitoring on its UK product page; an independent TechRadar review also describes the airbag mechanism.
The distinction matters, but the mechanism alone does not tell you whether a particular reading is accurate. Huawei says the UK Watch D3 is CE-MDR certified as a medical device. That is a manufacturer-reported regulatory claim, not proof that every individual reading will agree with a conventional monitor or be suitable for every user.

Why the blood-pressure readings left me unconvinced
In the exact titled review, repeated D3 readings came in lower than readings from a Garmin Index BPM. The reviewer also makes clear that this was a small comparison: it does not establish that the D3 was wrong, that the Garmin was right, or that either device is definitively accurate. The comparison is a reason for caution, not a controlled validation result. The review republished by Yahoo Tech in September 2026 does not provide a controlled sample size or a D3 accuracy percentage.

No D3-specific clinical-accuracy statistic or primary validation study is established by the available sources. Huawei has reported that a different model, the Watch D2, passed ISO 81060-2:2018 clinical accuracy verification, but that result cannot be transferred to the D3. The model distinction is important when evaluating claims about validation.
Huawei also warns: “Do not use this device with other medical electrical equipment, as this may affect its functions and accuracy.” Follow the device guidance and consult a healthcare professional about monitoring or treatment decisions. A smartwatch reading should not be used to change medication or replace medical advice.

What else the D3 offers
Huawei’s UK specifications describe a large AMOLED screen and a relatively substantial case. The figures below are Huawei’s published specifications; the company says dimensions and weight are theoretical and may vary. Thickness is measured at the thinnest point and excludes the sensor area.

Huawei’s six-day figure is a vendor estimate, not an independent result. Its stated laboratory profile includes six blood-pressure readings and five ECG readings daily, along with always-on heart-rate monitoring, TruSleep, stress and SpO₂ monitoring, exercise, notifications, calls, and music. Huawei lists Android 8.0 or later and iOS 13.0 or later as requirements. The company cautions that some services vary by region, so check local feature support rather than assuming every function is available everywhere.

The D3 may appeal to someone who specifically wants a cuff-based blood-pressure feature integrated into a smartwatch and values its large display and wide set of listed health sensors. The available evidence does not establish broad agreement with other monitors, however, and the review’s lower readings relative to the Garmin Index BPM are a meaningful confidence concern.

- Consider it if the integrated cuff approach is attractive and you are comfortable treating readings cautiously while checking whether the device and its features suit your needs.
- Be cautious if you need readings you can rely on for health decisions. The comparison described in the review is not a substitute for a controlled validation study or professional guidance.
- Check before buying whether the D3’s features are supported in your region and whether its size, strap, phone requirements, and battery profile fit your routine.
If you compare it with another wearable or a conventional upper-arm monitor, prioritize repeatability and agreement when readings are taken under comparable conditions. A single device comparison does not make the other monitor a clinical gold standard.
