If html.to.design cannot capture a website, first check whether the page is public and already loads correctly in your browser. Use the Web tab for an accessible public URL; use the browser extension for a page that requires a login, VPN, browser session, or CAPTCHA you have already solved. For partial or mismatched captures, try the vendor’s documented viewport-height or user-agent workarounds.
Choose the capture route that matches the page
html.to.design combines a Figma plugin and a browser extension to turn captured websites into editable designs. Its Web-tab importer expects a publicly accessible page. The extension captures a page displayed in your browser, including private pages you can access after signing in. html.to.design: What is html.to.design?

These are vendor-documented routes and remedies, not guarantees for every website. The extension’s documented options and transfer workflow are described in What is the browser extension? and Import a private webpage.
Diagnose the failure in order
- Open the exact page in your browser. Confirm that it renders correctly and that you are on the intended URL, language, and account. If the page itself does not load, address that access or loading problem before trying to import it.
- Check how the page is accessed. If anyone can open it without a session, try the Web tab. If it needs a login, VPN, browser session, or prior CAPTCHA solution, use the extension on the page already open in your browser.
- For a CAPTCHA, solve it in the browser first. The URL importer cannot automatically complete the challenge. Capture the accessible browser page with the extension afterward.
- Transfer the capture to Figma. Send it to the plugin, or save a local
.h2dfile and drop that file into the plugin. The vendor says data in the local-file workflow is stored locally and does not reach its servers; that statement applies to saving and importing the local file, not necessarily to sending a capture directly to the plugin. Fix a capture that stops before the end of a long page
Some sites handle body height, scrolling, and item display differently, which can affect full-page capture. The vendor’s documented workaround is to use Chrome DevTools Device Mode with a very large viewport height, then take a full-page capture with the extension and import the resulting .h2d file.

- Open the target page in Chrome and open DevTools Device Mode.
- Set the viewport height to a very large value.
- Use the html.to.design browser extension to capture the full page.
- Save the capture as a
.h2dfile and drop it into the plugin.
The source does not specify a single height that works for every site, and this workaround is not guaranteed to fix every page. See the vendor’s Not capturing full page guidance.
Fix a mobile capture that does not resemble a real phone
Some sites choose their layout based on the browser’s user-agent as well as its viewport. The vendor recommends capturing with the extension and changing the user-agent through Chrome DevTools Network conditions.

- Open the target page in Chrome and open DevTools.
- Open the Network conditions controls and set the user-agent that matches the device or browser you want to represent.
- Reload the page so the site can respond to the changed user-agent.
- Capture the rendered page with the html.to.design extension.
A matching viewport alone may not make a site render like it does on a physical phone. The vendor documents this user-agent workaround for some cases, but does not promise identical results on every site. See The captured webpage is different from a real phone.
Handle a capture in the wrong language
If the captured page is in the wrong language, check which language is visibly loaded in the browser before capturing. The extension documentation notes that language selection can fail because of technical limitations in a site’s language-selection system. Capture the language that the browser has actually loaded; there is no documented universal fix. See What is the browser extension?.

The available documentation does not establish a universal error-code guide, every browser, operating-system, or network prerequisite, or a guarantee that the extension defeats all bot protections.
