With wsqlite, the documented TableSync example adds a missing SQLite column when you initialize the ORM with a later Pydantic model. The change is narrow: an optional field is added to the model, and a new WSQLite instance points at the same database file. That demonstrates automatic additive schema synchronization—not a general replacement for Alembic or a guarantee for every production migration.
What the TableSync example does
In his DEV Community article, William Rodriguez describes TableSync as inspecting the schema and adding missing columns automatically. The example starts with a model containing id and name, creates a WSQLite instance for app.db, and inserts a user. A later model adds email: Optional[str] = None. Initializing WSQLite with that model and the same file is described as executing ALTER TABLE ADD COLUMN; the example then inserts a record with an email. This is the author’s description of the workflow, not an independently tested result. (DEV Community article)
The sequence matters: TableSync is presented as responding to a model that includes a column absent from the existing table. It is not evidence that arbitrary schema edits are inferred or applied.
How to read this as a migration option
The wsqlite repository README describes the project as a SQLite ORM using Pydantic v2. It lists automatic table creation and synchronization, automatic addition of newly detected columns, and a separate versioned migration system. In other words, the project documents both model-driven additive synchronization and versioned migrations; it does not establish that TableSync handles every task for which a team might use Alembic or explicit migration scripts. - Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Approach | What the cited material establishes | What it does not establish |
|---|---|---|
| TableSync | Repository documentation says newly detected model columns are added automatically; the article describes initializing against the same SQLite file after adding an optional email field. | Handling of destructive changes, required columns without defaults, rollback, concurrent startup, or production zero-downtime guarantees. |
| Versioned migrations | The repository README lists a versioned migration system. | Its exact operations, rollback behavior, deployment workflow, or feature parity with Alembic are not detailed in the reviewed documentation. |
When this example may fit
- You use
wsqlitewith SQLite and Pydantic models. - Your change is additive: the model gains a field corresponding to a missing database column.
- The field can be optional in the model example, as with
email: Optional[str] = None. - You can confirm the actual behavior and operational implications for your installed version and application before relying on automatic startup synchronization.
The example does not show how existing rows are treated beyond using an optional field with a None default. It also does not demonstrate adding a non-nullable field, changing a column’s type, renaming or removing a column, or undoing a change.
What to verify before using it in deployment
For changes beyond the demonstrated optional-column addition, consult the project’s versioned-migration documentation and test the exact change against a copy of the database. Decide how schema changes are reviewed and applied, how failures are recovered, and whether multiple application instances could initialize against the database at once. The reviewed README and article do not answer those operational questions, so they should not be assumed from the automatic-addition example.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
Because the article and README describe different parts of the project, neither alone supplies a full Alembic comparison. The available material supports a limited conclusion: TableSync is documented for automatically adding missing model columns, while the same repository also advertises versioned migrations.
