Vox Group describes Vox Aura as a system that lets a tour guide speak once while guests listen to live commentary translated into their chosen languages. Vox says Aura can draw from a library of 200 languages and deliver up to four translated languages simultaneously; those are different limits, and neither is an independent measure of translation quality.
How does real-time translation work on a group tour?
In Vox’s described operating model, the guide speaks normally, Aura processes the live commentary, and guests hear translated audio. Rather than requiring a separate guide to repeat the talk in each language, the system is intended to distribute the same commentary in multiple language channels. Vox also describes adapting commentary for different audiences and providing a guide co-pilot that can help with information in response to guest questions. How many languages can Vox Aura translate at once?
Vox’s current product page, accessed October 7, 2026, says Aura offers a library of 200 languages and can broadcast up to four languages at the same time. The library figure describes the selection available; four is the stated simultaneous-language limit. Vox Aura product information
Older materials have a different figure. Vox’s October 24, 2025 trial announcement and an ITB Berlin 2026 exhibitor profile both describe more than 50 languages. A September 14, 2026 launch report says the library expanded from 50 to 200, with four languages supported at once. The materials therefore reflect different publication dates and product descriptions, rather than a single consistent figure across every source. Do tour guests need a phone or an app?
The answer depends on the deployment described by Vox. Its 2025 trial announcement says translations were delivered through Vox Microguide radios, while its group-solutions information describes professional guiding equipment, including Vox VDR hardware. The September 2026 launch report describes an expanded Aura mode run from a single app, without extra kit to distribute and collect. These descriptions may refer to different configurations or versions; ask Vox which arrangement applies to a particular tour before planning for guest devices or equipment. What equipment does a guide need?
Vox’s materials place Aura within a broader group-guiding offer that includes radios, receivers, and logistics for tour operators, cruise lines, and travel companies. They do not establish one universal Aura equipment checklist. In particular, the radio-based descriptions and the app-based launch coverage should not be treated as interchangeable setup instructions. Although “wireless tour guide system transmitter and receiver” is a useful way to describe Vox’s documented professional radio equipment, the available information does not verify Aura listings, pricing, availability, or compatibility with third-party devices. It does not establish that Aura itself is sold through a retail marketplace.

Vox also reports its scale on company pages: 5,600 partners across more than 150 countries and 30 million travellers annually; its group-guiding page separately cites 25 million guided tours annually. These are company-reported figures, not independently audited statistics, and the pages do not define what counts as a tour.
