For a first watch, follow release order. It preserves how the films introduced the characters and reveals the story’s timeline. For a chronology-focused rewatch, move The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift from third place to after Fast & Furious 6 and before Furious 7.
Fast & Furious movies in release order
This is the order audiences originally saw the released feature films, using US-facing titles. Hobbs & Shaw is a spin-off rather than a numbered core entry, but it fits after The Fate of the Furious.

For story chronology, watch the released features in this order. The major change from release order is moving Tokyo Drift to after Fast & Furious 6.

Why does Tokyo Drift move in the timeline?
Tokyo Drift was released third, but its story takes place later than its release position. Han appears in events in Fast & Furious, Fast Five, and Fast & Furious 6 before the Tokyo story. Furious 7 then picks up the thread connected to the crash depicted in Tokyo Drift. That is why chronology viewers place the Tokyo-set film between Fast & Furious 6 and Furious 7. Should you include the short films?
The two short films are optional additions for viewers who want a more complete timeline. They are associated with DVD bonus features in the cited guides; you do not need them to follow the feature-film sequence.
- The Turbo Charged Prelude for 2 Fast 2 Furious goes between The Fast and the Furious and 2 Fast 2 Furious.
- Los Bandoleros goes between 2 Fast 2 Furious and Fast & Furious.
For a straightforward first watch, stay with the release-order list rather than interrupting it to add the shorts. Add them during a completionist rewatch if you want those extra timeline pieces. The guides support film-level placement, not a precise chronology for every scene.

Where does Hobbs & Shaw fit?
Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw is a released feature spin-off, not a numbered core-saga entry. Include it after The Fate of the Furious in either viewing order, or leave it out if you only want the core films. The complete lists here run through Fast X (2023).
