Where to watch a Tampa Bay Lightning game depends on your location and the game’s broadcast listing. In the Lightning’s local broadcast territory, regional games are available over the air, through participating cable or satellite providers, or with a paid subscription in the official Lightning app. Outside the local market, or for nationally televised games, different services and blackout rules apply. For a replay, the app typically posts its own broadcasts in less than an hour after the live broadcast ends.
Start with your location and the game listing
Before choosing a service, check whether you will watch inside the Lightning broadcast territory, elsewhere in the United States, or outside the country. Then look up the specific game: regional games, national broadcasts, and replays do not necessarily use the same platform. The NHL’s US viewing guide outlines where different broadcast categories are available, while the Lightning’s 2026–27 season guide provides team-specific details. Rights and service availability can change during a season.

Free over-the-air TV
For the 2026–27 season, the Lightning say their regional broadcasts are produced with Scripps Sports and are available over the air. In Tampa, the team guide lists Scripps’ The Spot on WXTP-TV channel 66.1 over the air. An HD antenna may be needed, and reception depends on your address and local signal conditions; check likely station reception before relying on this option. The team names the Channel Master Flatenna 35/Duo and Mohu Leaf Indoor HD TV Antenna as examples.

Official Lightning app
The team lists the local app subscription at $66 per season for the 2026–27 season. Availability depends on the broadcast territory and viewing ZIP code; use the ZIP-code lookup on the season guide before subscribing. The team lists iOS, Android, Fire TV, Apple TV, and Roku support. The app is not an all-games pass: regional and national blackouts apply, and its included game coverage has playoff limits.
Watching nationally televised and out-of-market games
The Lightning list 14 nationally televised games for the 2026–27 season. Their guide lists broadcasts across TNT and the ESPN/ABC family, with selected games on ESPN+/Disney+/Hulu. Check the current schedule and the individual game’s broadcaster rather than assuming the local app or one streaming service carries every game.

The NHL cautions that certain regional games shown on NHL Network outside local markets are not available on ESPN+. The Lightning app support page says its subscription covers regular-season games, selected preseason games, and the first playoff round, but excludes exclusive national broadcasts and later playoff rounds. Confirm local availability and blackout restrictions for the particular game before paying for a service. Outside the United States, consult the NHL’s country-specific guidance because viewing rights depend on the country.

How to watch a Lightning game replay
For games broadcast directly on the Lightning app, the team says the on-demand replay typically appears less than one hour after the live broadcast ends. Nationally broadcast games that are subject to blackout are not available as replays on that platform. Replay availability is therefore distinct from whether a live game was accessible in the app.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Using live playback controls in the Lightning app
To pause, rewind, or fast-forward while a game is in progress, choose the specific game tile rather than opening the continuous “Watch Live” feed. The app support guidance says the game tile has those controls; the linear feed does not. It describes an approximately two-hour live buffer and warns that pausing for roughly more than ten minutes may cause the buffer to time out. A full replay is a separate on-demand option after the broadcast ends.
