Check iPad video capability
| iPad models listed by Netflix | Documented capability |
|---|---|
| iPad (5th generation) and later | Full HD (1080p) |
| iPad mini 2 and later | Full HD (1080p) |
| iPad Pro 10.5-inch and later | HDR capability |
These are Netflix’s documented device thresholds. Netflix cautions that some mobile devices may not always stream in HDR, even when the title is labeled HDR. See Netflix’s iPad playback specifications
Watch Netflix on a TV or external display
AirPlay from an iPad is not supported by Netflix. For wireless casting, Netflix lists Chromecast (3rd generation or older, without a physical remote), Google Nest Hub Smart Displays, and select cast-enabled Vizio and Compal TVs. Support is device-specific, so check that your receiving device is on Netflix’s supported list rather than assuming any smart TV can cast. Netflix’s casting and connection guidance

Connect a USB-C iPad to HDMI
For a wired connection from a USB-C iPad to an HDMI display, Netflix recommends Apple’s USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter; other adapters may also work. USB-C or Thunderbolt display connections require a cable that supports high-resolution video playback. Adapter and device support can vary, and downloaded video may appear with black bars. The adapter is optional for watching on the iPad itself. Netflix’s external-display guidance
