For most games outside your current location’s blackout area, MLB.TV is the official live and on-demand video option. It is not a guarantee that every game will stream: MLB’s restrictions follow your physical location, and national exclusivity or other broadcast-rights rules can block a game. Check the exact matchup and the ZIP code or location where you will watch before game time.

Choose a viewing option based on where you’ll be

“Out of market” means the game is outside the local television territory that applies to your current location. MLB.TV is designed for out-of-market viewing, while a club’s local streaming service may serve viewers inside that club’s home territory. Neither option should be assumed to carry every game in every location.

Your situation First option to check What can limit it
You are outside the club’s home territory MLB.TV out-of-market package A national exclusive or another game-specific restriction can still prevent live video. Check MLB’s restriction tool for the game and the place you will watch. (MLB package page, 2026.)
You are within the club’s home territory The club’s local streaming service, if offered Services, eligibility and territories differ by club. MLB’s March 10, 2026 guide said 22 of 30 clubs offered in-market streaming without local blackouts; confirm current availability with the club. (MLB 2026 guide.)
Live video is blocked or unavailable MLB.TV archive or live audio MLB says an unavailable live game may appear in the archive about 90 minutes after it ends. Audio availability and package terms vary; check the current product details. (MLB package page; MLB live-stream information.)
You will watch outside the United States Check the international package and restrictions for your destination International terms differ from U.S. terms, and some U.S. clubs’ home-territory restrictions may extend beyond the United States. (MLB package page.)

Why a game can be blacked out while you travel

MLB determines restrictions using the viewer’s physical location, which may be inferred from factors such as the internet connection’s IP address. The relevant location is where you are watching—not simply your home address or the team’s location. A blackout tied to a club’s home television territory can apply whether that club is playing at home or away. (MLB package page; MLB live-stream information.)

National broadcast exclusivity is a separate reason a game may not be available on MLB.TV, even when you are outside both teams’ local territories. Restrictions can also differ by country. As a result, a subscription is not a reliable substitute for checking the specific game and destination.

Check the game before you leave

  1. Open MLB’s package and restriction page. Enter the ZIP code or location where you expect to watch and check the matchup. MLB says location can be determined from multiple factors, so use the actual viewing location rather than relying on your home address. (MLB package page.)
  2. Check both the team’s territory and national listings. Look for a local blackout and any national or special-event restriction shown for that game. Do not assume an away game avoids the home-territory blackout.
  3. Confirm the right package for that location. For out-of-market games, review MLB.TV’s current terms. If you will be in the club’s home territory, check whether that club offers a local streaming service and whether it covers your destination. MLB’s guide describes subscriptions for MLB.TV and Club.TV through the MLB app. (MLB 2026 guide.)
  4. Test your sign-in and device before game time. MLB confirms app streaming for MLB.TV and Club.TV subscribers, but the official pages cited here do not establish a complete current list of compatible devices or operating-system versions. Check the app-store listing and MLB support information for your specific phone or tablet, then test access on the connection you expect to use.

If live video is blocked, use a fallback

Watch the archive after the game

MLB says games unavailable live may become available as an archive about 90 minutes after the game concludes. This is delayed viewing, not a way to watch the game live. Check the game’s listing in the app or on MLB’s service for availability. (MLB package page; MLB live-stream information.)

Listen to live audio

MLB describes live audio as a fallback when video is unavailable. MLB+ is listed as offering live audio for all 30 teams without blackouts, but verify the current package details and access terms before subscribing. (MLB package page; MLB live-stream information.)

What to know about prices and local services

MLB package prices and promotions can change, and official MLB pages may show different offers at different times. The MLB package page surfaced for 2026 listed MLB.TV at $69.99 per season and MLB+ at $59.99 per year; a separate official page variation showed a promotional $29.99 seasonal MLB.TV offer. MLB’s March 10, 2026 guide listed a full-season MLB.TV price of $99.99 or $19.99 monthly for non-RSN teams. These are page- and time-specific listings, not a universal current price. Check your location’s restriction results and the checkout page for the price and terms that apply before purchase. (MLB package page; MLB 2026 guide.)

MLB’s March 2026 guide also described a $199.99 season or $39.99 monthly bundle combining a club local service with MLB.TV, characterized as 20% savings off individual pricing. Availability and terms depend on the club and may change; check the club’s own service page and the current checkout offer. (MLB 2026 guide.)

Travel setup: reduce surprises, not blackouts

  • Confirm the exact game for each destination, particularly when your itinerary crosses a team’s home territory or an international border.
  • Sign in and test the MLB app before first pitch, using the device and network you plan to use. A phone or tablet can be a convenient viewing screen, but compatibility depends on the device and app requirements.
  • Have audio or the delayed archive in mind if live video is restricted. A stronger connection or another device cannot remove a rights-based blackout.
  • Do not use location-spoofing tools to evade restrictions; MLB’s availability is tied to location and broadcast rights.
