You can keep an Indian music channel broadcasting around the clock by sending a continuous prerecorded programme to YouTube through an encoder, configured in Live Control Room. The encoder sends the audio and video; Control Room lets you configure the event, check its incoming preview and start a scheduled stream. Before you begin, clear the rights for every recording and composition: YouTube scans live streams for third-party content and can interrupt or terminate a stream after a match.
What you need for a YouTube music stream that runs around the clock
Live Control Room does not play your music files by itself. It configures the YouTube broadcast, while an encoder—software or hardware—sends the live audio and video using a YouTube server URL and stream key. For a continuous programmed feed, prepare a playback source and encoder that can keep sending that feed, plus someone or a process able to notice and respond to problems.
- A YouTube channel that is verified and has had no live-streaming restrictions in the preceding 90 days.
- An encoder and a stable way to deliver its output to YouTube. YouTube recommends professional-grade hardware encoders for higher-production-value broadcasts; dedicated hardware is not a stated requirement for a music stream.
- A planned rotation of recordings and compositions for which you have the necessary rights.
- An operating plan for monitoring, rights warnings and encoder interruptions.
YouTube’s general encoder guidance recommends testing and monitoring; it does not establish a 24/7 uptime guarantee. Do not assume that a stream is healthy just because the encoder appears to be running.

Clear music rights before you schedule
Do not treat a track’s availability online, a credit in the description, or a licence for one part of a recording as proof that you can broadcast it. YouTube says the provider is responsible for having the necessary rights for the live content, including music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers and other royalty participants. Its livestream terms state: “You represent and warrant that You have all necessary rights for the exploitation of the Live Content on the Google Services throughout the world, including, without limitation, music licensing rights from artists, record labels, publishers (including public performance licenses) and any other royalty participants.”

YouTube scans live streams for matches to third-party content, including copyrighted material in another live broadcast. A match can cause a placeholder image to replace your feed; if the material remains, YouTube may temporarily interrupt or terminate the stream. Importantly, even a licence may not prevent an interruption if the rights holder has not added your channel to its Content ID allowlist. For licensed catalogue material, ask the rights holder to allowlist your channel and keep the written permission, relevant contacts and track list available to the operators.
These platform requirements do not resolve questions about Indian copyright law, statutory licences or rights in a particular catalogue. A YouTube setting or a licence covering one right does not automatically clear every right. For those questions, consult the relevant rights holders or a qualified legal adviser.

Choose session lengths with replay limits in mind
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its guidance does not establish that one uninterrupted 24-hour broadcast will be archived, so do not rely on a single all-day session if you need a replay.

Decide whether continuity or saved replays matter more, then rehearse the schedule and handoff before promoting the stream. If an archive matters, keep a local copy where appropriate and confirm that the local file is growing during transmission.

Create and configure the stream in Live Control Room
- Open Live Control Room. In YouTube Studio, select Create → Go Live. To promote a future start, use Manage → Schedule stream. A scheduled stream can create an upcoming watch page where viewers can opt into reminders.
- Choose whether to reuse a previous setup. Reusing settings copies metadata, settings and the stream key. Review all of them before using the new event. Treat the stream key like a password: anyone who has it can send a feed to the stream. If it is exposed, reset it in Control Room and replace it in the encoder.
- Set the event details. Add the title and description, choose privacy and the appropriate category or type, and review any other settings needed for your audience. Streams can be public, private or unlisted. YouTube says tags have limited discovery value except for commonly misspelled terms, so do not rely on them to attract viewers.
- Copy the connection details into the encoder. The server URL tells the encoder where to send its feed; the stream key identifies and authenticates the stream. Enter both carefully, using the values shown for the intended event.
- Start the encoder and check the incoming preview. Wait for the feed to appear in Live Control Room. For a scheduled event, once the preview is available, select Go live in Control Room to begin the broadcast.
- Verify the viewer experience. Check the channel’s watch page and a mobile device. Listen for stable audio, inspect the video and confirm that the expected event is live rather than just receiving encoder input.
Pick an encoder workflow you can operate
YouTube supports both software and hardware encoders. The right choice depends on your source, output requirements, budget, the operators’ familiarity and the failure-recovery options available in your setup. The available YouTube guidance does not compare encoder brands or publish benchmarks, so there is no evidence-based model ranking here.

If you are considering equipment, look for a hardware video encoder that supports YouTube live streaming and the output your programme needs. Check compatibility and failover behavior with the manufacturer; no particular model is established as suitable by the available guidance.

Monitor the stream and prepare a recovery plan
Assign responsibility for responding to silence, frozen video, lost encoder input and rights warnings. YouTube advises continuous quality monitoring and recommends testing encoder failover—for example, stop the primary encoder or disconnect its network and check whether the player rolls over to a backup. That is a test you should perform with your own configuration, not a guarantee that every failure will be recovered automatically.

- Check the public or intended-audience watch page and listen from a separate device.
- Test the backup encoder or connection before relying on it.
- Keep an operator schedule and escalation path so a person can act on a failure or rights warning.
- Verify any local archive file is being written and continues to grow.
- After a rights match, remove or replace the affected material promptly and check Studio for strikes or restrictions.
Understand monetization settings
Ad settings are available only in the applicable eligible monetization context. For eligible monetized channels, YouTube recommends automatic mid-roll insertion. Scheduled mid-roll intervals include 6, 12, 18, 24 or 30 minutes; manual placement is also available. Enabling monetization does not guarantee that every viewer will receive an ad.
