You can use vMix to assemble a Hindi news program, play prepared clips in sequence, and send the output to YouTube Live. But a looping vMix playlist is not a guarantee of unattended, uninterrupted broadcasting: plan for an operator, monitor the encoder and YouTube preview, record locally, and test how your team will handle stream interruptions and session changes.
What you need to run the channel
Think of the broadcast as a chain: vMix combines your cameras, audio, clips and graphics; an encoder sends that program to YouTube using a live server URL and stream key; YouTube distributes the stream to viewers. A playlist can automate playback and switching, but it does not replace monitoring or editorial decisions.
- A production computer running the vMix installation and preset you intend to broadcast from.
- Your actual program sources: for example, an anchor camera, microphones or a mixer, prepared video clips, titles and graphics, and any remote contribution.
- A YouTube channel with access to YouTube Live and a created or scheduled live stream.
- A reliable, sustained internet upload connection and a local recording destination with enough available space.
- An operator or editor who can monitor the output, verify headlines and rights, and intervene when something goes wrong.
Choose audio equipment around your camera or audio interface and studio conditions. YouTube lists microphones among typical professional livestream equipment, but no particular microphone model or connection type is established here.

Build and test the vMix production preset
Assemble the program
Add the sources the newsroom will actually use: camera and audio inputs, prepared clips, titles, and graphics. Build the show around a clear editorial sequence, such as an opening, current headlines, reports, explainers, and recurring segments. vMix’s User Guide describes presets as saving inputs and their settings as well as recording and streaming settings, so the team can recall a prepared configuration.

Validate it on the broadcast machine
Open the intended preset on the computer that will run the show. Check that every input is available and correctly framed, that audio is present and intelligible, and that titles and transitions appear as expected. Do not assume a preset that worked on another machine will work unchanged on the production system.
Test Hindi elements in the actual installed setup: Devanagari lower thirds, headline graphics, captions, line breaks and the local recording. Inspect them on the broadcast computer and in YouTube’s preview. The reviewed official documentation does not establish identical Devanagari font rendering or caption behavior across vMix installations, so treat this as a local production check.

Make a looping news playlist
Choose automatic or manual progression
vMix PlayList can sequence videos and automate switching tasks. Its documented item controls include a starting position, duration, transition and transition time; a playlist can loop or run in manual mode, where an operator clicks Next. Playlists are linked to the active vMix preset in which they were created.

Set each item’s start, duration and transition deliberately, then test the complete sequence, including the point where the playlist returns to its beginning. Use automatic playback for predictable blocks, not as evidence that the channel can safely run without supervision.

Connect vMix to YouTube Live
- Create or schedule the broadcast in YouTube Studio. Prepare the live stream in YouTube’s Live Control Room and note the stream details.
- Connect the encoder. In the standard encoder workflow, enter YouTube’s live server URL and stream key in the streaming setup used by vMix. Treat the key as a credential: do not publish it or share it with people who should not control the stream.
- Consider vMix’s integrated YouTube destination only after checking your version. vMix documents a YouTube-specific destination for creating a stream or selecting an already scheduled event. The relevant vMix Knowledge Base article was last updated on 2021-03-16, so confirm that the controls and flow are still available in the version installed on your production machine.
- Start the encoder and verify the preview. Follow the current Live Control Room flow. YouTube’s encoder instructions describe starting the encoder; for scheduled streams, the operator may also need to click Go live after the preview appears. Confirm the exact prompts shown for the stream you created.
Set streaming quality and check capacity
vMix offers streaming profiles and a bundled FFMPEG option. vMix Help 28 describes FFMPEG as recommended and says it supports H.264, AV1 or HEVC video and AAC audio. YouTube’s current live encoder guidance recommends H.264, constant bitrate (CBR), and a two-second keyframe interval, with keyframes no farther apart than four seconds.

The 5 Mbps figure is YouTube’s recommendation for 1080p30, not a guarantee that your computer or internet connection can sustain it. Choose resolution and bitrate for the desired picture quality only after checking both encoder load and upload capacity. The cited guidance does not establish one universal setting for every resolution, frame rate, source or connection.

Plan recordings and stream session boundaries
YouTube Help’s archive guidance, accessed in 2026, says that a live stream under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while a stream exceeding 12 hours may not be captured at all. YouTube recommends keeping a local recording as a backup.

If complete archives matter, record locally and plan stream sessions below the 12-hour threshold rather than relying on one continuous session. A 24/7 channel can schedule shorter broadcasts and restart them according to an operator plan. The available guidance does not guarantee a seamless viewer experience when one session stops and another begins, so test the transition and decide who will monitor it.

Keep the Hindi news operation editorially safe
Review currentness and source quality
A playlist can repeat a prepared sequence; it cannot verify that a report remains current, confirm a source, or decide whether developing news should replace a scheduled clip. Assign an editor or operator to review headlines and sources, manage live transitions, and intervene if the feed or program output fails.
Check rights and applicable rules
YouTube’s livestream terms require the provider to hold the necessary rights to live content and comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements in the territory where the stream is available. That general requirement does not establish which India-specific registration, licensing or other obligations apply to a particular Hindi news operation. Seek jurisdiction-specific guidance before launch.
Do not treat playlist repetition as a monetization guarantee
YouTube’s monetization policy applies to livestreams and says channels built around highly repetitive or mass-produced material can be ineligible for monetization. Repeating a playlist alone does not establish YouTube Partner Program eligibility. Add distinct, original reporting and commentary with useful editorial value, and check the current policy before making monetization decisions.
Troubleshoot the broadcast
- YouTube is not receiving a signal: Check that the server URL and stream key correspond to the intended live stream, that the encoder has started, and that the current Live Control Room flow has been completed. For a scheduled stream, check whether Go live is still required after preview.
- The preview or stream status is unstable: Check encoder load and sustained upload capacity against the chosen output settings. YouTube’s 1080p30 recommendation is a target, not proof your machine or connection can maintain it.
- The playlist does not advance as expected: Check whether it is in manual mode, review item start positions, durations and transitions, and verify that the active preset is the one linked to the playlist.
- Hindi text looks wrong or is clipped: Inspect the actual lower thirds, headlines, captions and line breaks on the production computer and in YouTube’s preview. Validate the local recording as well; rendering behavior has not been established for every installation.
- The archive is missing or incomplete: Check whether the stream exceeded 12 hours. YouTube warns that streams over that duration may not be captured; use a local recording and shorter sessions when archive completeness matters.
- A clip should not continue airing: Have an operator able to interrupt the planned sequence, review rights and source status, and select the next editorially appropriate item. Playlist automation does not perform that review.
