The browser version is useful for viewing TikTok on a larger screen and uploading finished videos from your computer. It is not a complete replacement for the mobile editor: the documented desktop workflow does not include the mobile app’s direct recording experience, and filters and effects are limited or unavailable.
Open TikTok in a PC browser
- Open a desktop browser such as Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
- Go to https://www.tiktok.com/.
- Select Watch now or Log in if either option appears.
You do not need a command-line command, Android emulator, or mobile app just to browse TikTok on a PC. The website loads in the browser and provides access to the main feed and account features.
Sign in to TikTok on a computer
- Open TikTok.com.
- Select Log in or Watch now.
- Choose the available sign-in method.
- Enter the same account credentials you use in the TikTok app, if you already have an account.
If TikTok repeatedly signs you out, use the Help Center’s troubleshooting options for My account logged out automatically. TikTok also maintains separate help paths for forgotten or reset passwords, saved login information, passkeys, and other login problems.

You can usually watch public videos without signing in, but signing in is needed for account-based actions such as following, messaging, and managing your favorites.
Use the TikTok desktop interface
After TikTok opens, the left navigation normally includes these sections:

While watching videos, the Up and Down arrow keys can move between videos in the desktop interface. If the keys do not work, click the video area first so the browser page has focus.

The controls beside a video provide the main interaction options:

- Heart: Like the video.
- Comment: Open the comments in the right-side panel and add a comment.
- Bookmark: Save the video. The bookmark menu can also add it to an existing collection or create a new one.
- Arrow: Open sharing options.
- Creator profile image: Open the creator’s profile.
- Audio disc: Open other videos using the same audio when that control is available.
The exact buttons can vary by video, account, region, or whether you are signed in. A creator may also disable comments or restrict other interactions.
Upload a video from your PC
The desktop site uploads an existing video file. It does not provide the mobile app’s normal tap-to-record workflow directly inside the TikTok webpage.

- Select Upload in the left sidebar.
- Choose a video file stored on your computer.
- Enter a caption.
- Add hashtags and mention users if needed.
- Choose or edit the video cover.
- Preview the post and apply the editing options offered by the uploader.
- Scroll down to choose whether to publish immediately or schedule the post.
- Review the viewer settings for comments, Duet, and Stitch.
- Select the publish or schedule control.
Prepare the recording before uploading if you need the full mobile editing toolkit. The desktop feature comparison does not provide the same filters and effects workflow as the app.
Find saved videos and collections
- Select your profile image at the top right.
- Select View profile.
- Open Favorites.
- Select Collections.
From Collections, you can browse saved videos by group or create a collection. To save a video while watching it, select the bookmark button and choose the appropriate collection option.
Check notifications and messages
Notifications
Select Activity in the left sidebar. The Activity area can show likes, comments, new followers, tags, and mentions. Available notification filters help narrow the list.
Messages
Select Messages to open the messaging dashboard. From there you can view conversations, send messages, and filter messages. Messaging availability can depend on account settings and TikTok’s age, privacy, and regional restrictions.
Watch TikTok LIVE on a PC
The desktop website supports watching LIVE streams. TikTok’s desktop updates also added immersive full-screen LIVE viewing and LIVE gaming streams in portrait or landscape mode.
Chrome users may also see TikTok’s web-exclusive Floating Player, which keeps a video visible while you work elsewhere on the desktop site. TikTok specifies that Floating Player is available exclusively on desktop through Google Chrome.

If LIVE does not load even though ordinary videos work, use TikTok’s Help Center category for Issues with TikTok LIVE. LIVE access and availability can differ from normal video viewing.
Use TikTok Business Suite and analytics
Business Accounts have additional browser tools. In the main TikTok web interface, use this path:
More — the three-dot control at the bottom of the left menu — → Business Suite → Analytics → Overview.
Web Business Suite includes:
- Homepage
- Analytics
- Creative Hub
- Leads manager
- Settings
- Activity & support
Analytics is organized into Overview, Audience, and Video. The available date ranges include Last 7 days, Last 28 days, Last 60 days, and a custom date range. The Business Suite homepage also includes a Scheduler for Business Accounts.

Be careful with third-party downloaders and screen-recording tools. They are not TikTok’s native desktop save workflow and may create privacy, copyright, security, or account-risk issues.
Fix common TikTok browser problems
TikTok will not load
- Reload
https://www.tiktok.com/. - Open the site in a private or incognito window to test whether an extension or stored session is interfering.
- Temporarily disable script-blocking, privacy, or ad-blocking extensions for TikTok.
- Try another supported desktop browser.
- Check whether the problem affects all TikTok pages or only one video.
The account keeps logging out
Sign in again and use TikTok’s Help Center path for My account logged out automatically. If you recently changed your password or login method, check saved credentials and sign-in methods rather than repeatedly retrying an old password.

LIVE does not work
Ordinary video playback and LIVE access are separate. Check TikTok’s Issues with TikTok LIVE support category. A browser, account, network, or regional restriction can affect LIVE independently.
TikTok shows a “too fast” error
Stop repeatedly refreshing, liking, following, or opening many pages in quick succession. TikTok lists a separate Why am I seeing a “too fast” error message? troubleshooting path. If the message remains, use Report a problem or Still need help? in the Help Center.

First check the computer’s volume, browser tab mute state, and the video player controls. If TikTok says the sound was removed, use the Help Center’s sound-removal support information. The issue may concern the video’s audio rights rather than your PC.

Use the browser when you want a large-screen viewing experience, a physical keyboard, computer uploads, desktop messaging, or Business Suite analytics. Use the mobile app when you need TikTok’s camera-based recording workflow, mobile editing tools, and the broader set of filters and effects.

Can I use TikTok on a PC without the app?
Yes. Open https://www.tiktok.com/ in a desktop browser. You can browse TikTok without installing the mobile app, and you can sign in through Watch now or Log in.
Can I upload a TikTok from my computer?
Yes. Select Upload in TikTok’s left sidebar, choose an existing video file, add the caption and settings, then publish or schedule it.

Can I record TikTok videos directly on a PC?
Not through the documented desktop web workflow. The PC website uses Upload for an existing video file; record and edit the video separately before uploading.
Where are my saved TikTok videos on the website?
Select your profile image, choose View profile, open Favorites, and then select Collections.
Why can I watch TikTok but not use LIVE?
LIVE has separate availability and troubleshooting conditions. Check the Issues with TikTok LIVE section in TikTok’s Help Center and verify that your browser, account, and network are not blocking the stream.
Does TikTok have a desktop download button?
Desktop downloading is less consistent than the mobile Save workflow. A download option may not be available for every video, and third-party downloaders are not TikTok’s native desktop feature.
The Bottom Line
TikTok works in a PC browser at TikTok.com; no mobile app is required. The desktop site handles watching, interaction, messaging, favorites, LIVE viewing, computer uploads, and Business Suite tools well. Its main trade-off is editing: you upload an existing file instead of recording with TikTok’s mobile camera workflow, and the full range of mobile filters and effects is not available.
