Forza Horizon 6’s official guidance does not say that Photo Mode is required to solve a Treasure Car clue. Instead, it says to explore, obtain a photo clue, and use the supplied image to figure out where an abandoned car is. You can approach that as a visual landmark search: study the image, identify distinctive features, then look for them in the game world and on the map.
What a Forza Horizon 6 photo clue is for
Playground Games describes Treasure Car clues as photographs players obtain by discovering roads and locations. The abandoned vehicles can then be found, restored, and added to a collection. Its May 15, 2026 starting guide says: “Continue to discover new roads and locations to obtain photo clues of Treasure Cars: abandoned vehicles that you can find, restore, and add to your collection.” A separate car-culture article likewise says players use the provided photo to work out where the cars are.
Those descriptions concern the supplied clue image. They do not say that entering Photo Mode reveals coordinates, marks a map location, or is necessary to interpret the clue. The game also has photography and documentation activities, including a Collection Journal where a photograph can be replaced with a better one, but that does not establish a Photo Mode clue-solving mechanic. The campaign overview describes that journal separately.
How to search using the clue image
The following is a practical way to reason from the image, not an officially documented sequence or a tested in-game feature.
#1 Best Overall
- DISCOVER JAPAN — Explore Horizon’s largest map ever, set in Japan and packed with dramatic verticality, diverse biomes, and spectacular open‑road driving routes.
- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.
- DRIVE 550+ REAL‑WORLD CARS — Collect and customize over 550 licensed vehicles with body kits, Forza Aero, window liveries, and enhanced steering animations.
- BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.
- JOIN THE HORIZON COMMUNITY — Race, cruise, and compete with friends in Time Attack Circuits, Drag Meets, Car Meets, and Horizon multiplayer modes, including Spec Racing Championships.
- Inspect the supplied photo. Look for features that are distinctive enough to recognize: a particular building, a bend or junction in the road, a shoreline, a hillside, or the arrangement of nearby structures.
- Turn the image into a short landmark list. Note a few features and how they relate to one another—for example, a building beside a curved road with a slope behind it. Relationships are more useful than a single generic detail such as “trees.”
- Compare those features with the world map. Narrow your search to regions whose roads and terrain fit the image. Check the surrounding area rather than expecting the photo to provide a precise pin.
- Explore likely locations and compare the view. Use the same combination of landmarks to judge whether an area matches. If it does not, return to the map and try another plausible region instead of treating one visual resemblance as proof.
Should you open Photo Mode?
Not as a documented requirement for solving a Treasure Car clue. The official explanations establish a supplied photo clue, but do not specify a Photo Mode workflow for zooming, aligning the image, or identifying a location. If you use Photo Mode to inspect or take your own pictures, treat that as a convenience only where the current in-game controls support it; do not assume it will reveal the clue’s answer.
Exact Photo Mode controls are not established by the official references cited here. Check the current in-game help or control settings for your platform rather than relying on button prompts from another platform or an older version.

Treasure Cars versus a Treasure Hunt challenge
“Treasure Hunt” may also mean a timed or Festival Playlist challenge. That is not automatically the same activity as finding a Treasure Car from an exploration photo. The official material cited here explains Treasure Car clues, not current weekly challenge instructions or locations. For a Playlist challenge, use instructions for the specific active challenge; do not assume the Treasure Car photo-clue process applies.
Find it yourself or use a walkthrough?
| Approach | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Landmark matching and exploration | Players who want to solve the clue without seeing the exact answer | Requires more searching, but preserves the discovery element |
| External walkthrough | Players who want a direct location rather than a visual puzzle | Faster when the guide matches the relevant clue, but may reveal the answer outright |
For a walkthrough, make sure it covers the same activity and clue you are facing. A guide to a weekly Treasure Hunt challenge may not answer a Treasure Car photo clue, and vice versa.
