To stream a recorded Kannada sermon with a logo in OBS, add the sermon as a Media Source, place the church logo above it as an Image Source, check playback and audio, then connect OBS to your live-streaming destination. YouTube Live is used below as an example; the encoder steps differ on other platforms.
What you need before opening OBS
- The sermon recording saved on the computer running OBS.
- A logo image saved on that computer. PNG is useful when you want a transparent background; transparency depends on the image format.
- OBS Studio and a streaming destination that accepts an encoder stream.
- A reliable internet connection and a computer able to play the file while encoding and streaming it.
OBS Media Source supports common video formats including MP4, TS, MOV, FLV, MKV, AVI, GIF and WebM, and audio formats including MP3, AAC, OGG and WAV. Its Image Source guide lists BMP, TGA, PNG, JPEG, JPG and GIF. These format lists do not guarantee that every file encoded in a listed container will work on every computer, so preview the actual Kannada sermon and check both sound and any visible text before the service. Build the sermon-and-logo scene
- Create a scene. In OBS, use the Scenes panel to add a scene for this service, such as “Kannada Sermon.”
- Add the recording. In the Sources panel, select the plus button, choose Media Source, create or select a source, and browse to the sermon file. Confirm it appears in the preview.
- Set playback behavior. For a one-time service, normally leave Loop off. If the recording should repeat, enable Loop. Choose whether the source should restart when it becomes active and what OBS should show after playback ends according to the service plan. For a playlist or additional media compatibility, VLC Video is an option, but VLC must be installed and its bitness must match OBS; the guide specifies 64-bit VLC for 64-bit OBS.
- Add the logo. Select the Sources plus button and choose Image Source, then select the logo file.
- Put the logo over the video. In the Sources list, place the Image Source above the sermon Media Source. Higher sources appear in front of lower ones. Select the logo in the preview to resize and move it; put it somewhere legible that does not cover the speaker, scripture, or subtitles.
OBS documents adding, ordering, resizing and positioning sources in its Sources Guide. Check the logo in the full stream preview as well as the OBS canvas: a small mark that looks clear while editing may be hard to see on a viewer’s phone.
Check sound, picture and encoding settings
Confirm the sermon audio
Play the recording in OBS and watch the audio mixer meters. A visible picture does not mean sermon audio is reaching the stream. If the meters do not move or show the wrong input, check the source’s audio settings and select the intended device manually. OBS’s Quick Start Guide covers checking meters and audio devices.

Choose output settings for your destination
Set output resolution, frame rate and bitrate in OBS to values your destination accepts and your computer and upload connection can sustain. The correct bitrate is not universal: it depends on upload capacity and platform limits. Higher frame rates, especially 60 fps, can demand more processing and bandwidth than 30 fps. A mostly static sermon recording may not benefit from a high frame rate; use the source file and destination requirements to choose. For YouTube, consult its current live encoder settings rather than copying a bitrate preset intended for another resolution or frame rate. The actual recommended settings can change, and your upload connection still needs enough headroom to send a stable stream.

Connect OBS to YouTube Live
- In YouTube Studio, create or schedule the live stream in the Live Control Room. If this is the channel’s first live stream, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours, so do this well before the service.
- In the stream’s encoder settings, copy the server URL and stream key into OBS’s stream settings. Treat the key like a password: do not show it in a public screen share or send it to people who do not need access.
- Start streaming from OBS. Check the Live Control Room’s incoming preview and stream health before announcing or beginning the service. For a scheduled stream, use the Live Control Room’s Go live step when the congregation is ready.
Follow YouTube’s current encoder setup instructions. Other destinations have their own server address, key and start-broadcast procedure; do not assume YouTube settings or labels apply elsewhere.

- Run a short test using the same sermon segment, scene and connection you plan to use.
- Listen for clear, continuous sermon audio; watch the mixer meters while the file plays.
- Check that the logo is visible and does not obscure a face, scripture text or subtitles in the platform preview.
- Review the destination’s stream-health indicators and resolve any warnings before the service.
- Confirm the video starts at the intended point and ends or loops as planned.

Copyright and YouTube channel considerations
Use recordings and music the church has permission to stream, and verify rights for any worship music, images or other material included in the sermon. A church’s ownership of the recording does not automatically establish permission for every song or third-party asset in it. Also review YouTube’s current live-stream rules and channel policies before broadcasting. A prerecorded sermon sent through OBS is still a live broadcast to viewers, but this setup alone does not establish whether the channel’s content complies with YouTube monetization or reused-content policies. No specific policy outcome can be determined without reviewing the channel and the recording.

The format list does not guarantee compatibility with every file encoding. Test the exact recording in OBS and check its video, audio and any visible text before the service.

Can the OBS scene show subtitles as well as the logo?
This setup does not establish a subtitle workflow. Test your subtitle method and the actual output in advance, and position the logo so it does not cover the text.
