Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsSend a JSON POST request to https://api.html2pdf.app/v1/generate with your API key in the X-API-Key header. Check the HTTP status, then save the successful response body as binary PDF data. The example below uses Python 3.10 or newer and the requests package.
Make a synchronous PDF request
Install the dependency with pip install requests. Store your API key in an environment variable named HTML2PDF_API_KEY, then run this script:
import os
from pathlib import Path
import requests
response = requests.post(
"https://api.html2pdf.app/v1/generate",
json={"html": "https://www.example.com"},
headers={"X-API-Key": os.environ["HTML2PDF_API_KEY"]},
timeout=60,
)
response.raise_for_status()
Path("document.pdf").write_bytes(response.content)
Replace the example URL with a publicly reachable page. The API also accepts raw HTML markup in the html field. On a successful synchronous request, the response body contains PDF bytes—not JSON or text—so validate the status before writing response.content to a file. The official Python guide documents this flow at https://html2pdf.app/documentation/python/; check the current API documentation for endpoint behavior and options.
Keep the API key out of client-side code
Html2Pdf.app says the API key is emailed after registration and should be used only in backend code, server-side scripts, or trusted jobs—not browser JavaScript, public repositories, or client-side templates. Reading it from an environment variable keeps it out of the source file, but also configure your deployment so the variable is only available to trusted processes. Avoid logging the key or returning it to a browser.

Choose HTML or a source URL
The required JSON property is html. It can contain either raw markup or a publicly accessible URL. POST with a JSON body is the practical choice for both; it avoids URL-encoding raw markup and query-string length problems. GET is supported, but the provider cautions against using it for raw HTML or long template values because query parameters must be URL-encoded.
For URL-based conversion, the rendering service must be able to reach the page and its required resources. A URL that loads only inside your private network, behind a login, or through browser-local state may not render as expected. Inline HTML is useful when you generate the document server-side, but any referenced external CSS, images, and fonts still need to be reachable by the renderer.

Set page layout and rendering options
Pass rendering controls alongside html in the JSON body. For example:
payload = {
"html": "<h1>Invoice</h1><p>Total: $240.00</p>",
"format": "A4",
"media": "print",
"marginTop": 40,
"marginRight": 32,
"marginBottom": 40,
"marginLeft": 32,
"filename": "invoice.pdf",
}
response = requests.post(
"https://api.html2pdf.app/v1/generate",
json=payload,
headers={"X-API-Key": os.environ["HTML2PDF_API_KEY"]},
timeout=60,
)
response.raise_for_status()
Path("invoice.pdf").write_bytes(response.content)
Use the documented parameters that match your document:

- Page size: standard formats include Letter, Legal, Tabloid, Ledger, and A0 through A6. You can also set custom width and height.
- Orientation and margins: choose portrait or landscape and specify top, right, bottom, and left margins in pixels.
- CSS media:
mediacan beprintorscreen. Select the mode your page’s styles are designed for. - Scale and filename: set rendering scale and a filename where required by your workflow.
- Headers and footers: provide header and footer templates for repeating PDF content.
- Password and permissions: use the documented PDF password and permission settings if your output needs those controls.
- Wait for page readiness:
waitForaccepts a delay from 0 to 10 seconds for pages that need additional time for JavaScript or asynchronous resources.
Rendering can vary with the selected CSS media mode, available fonts and external resources, and when JavaScript finishes loading. A delay can help with asynchronous content, but it does not make a private or unreachable resource accessible.
Use callback mode for queued conversions
For work that should not hold a request open until rendering completes, include callBackUrl in the request, and optionally include state to associate the eventual result with your job. The initial response is 202 Accepted: it confirms the conversion was queued, not that the response body is a PDF.

When the job completes, Html2Pdf.app POSTs JSON to your callback URL. The payload includes the PDF as a base64-encoded document value and returns state unchanged. Decode that value before saving or serving the PDF. The callback endpoint should be publicly reachable over HTTPS, and its handler should be idempotent because delivery may be attempted more than once. The provider says failed callback deliveries are retried up to three times.
| Workflow | When the PDF arrives | Result representation | Implementation needs |
|---|---|---|---|
| Synchronous | In the original HTTP response after conversion | Binary PDF body | Keep the request open while conversion runs; check the status and write the response bytes. |
| Callback | Later, after the job is queued | Base64 PDF in the callback JSON’s document field |
Provide a public HTTPS callback, correlate jobs with optional state, handle repeat delivery idempotently, and decode the base64 data. |
Troubleshoot common failures
| Symptom or status | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
400 |
The source URL is inaccessible or a parameter is invalid. | Check that the renderer can reach the URL and validate parameter names and values against the API documentation before retrying. |
401 |
The API key is missing or invalid. | Confirm the X-API-Key header is present and the environment variable contains the correct key. |
403 |
The account reached a plan limit. | Review your account limit and any provider notification before sending more requests. |
500 |
An unhandled server error. | Retry after a short delay, increasing the delay between attempts. Contact support if the problem persists. |
| Blank output or missing styles | The source or its CSS, fonts, or images may be inaccessible, or rendering may occur before asynchronous content is ready. | Confirm the URL is public and required resources load for the renderer. Check whether the page needs a different CSS media mode or a waitFor delay. |
| A saved file is not a valid PDF | An error response, or a queued 202 response, may have been written as if it were PDF data. |
Call raise_for_status() before writing a synchronous response. In callback mode, wait for the callback and decode its base64 document value. |
Do not automatically retry 400, 401, or 403 without first correcting the input, credentials, or account-limit issue. For transient server errors, use increasing delays rather than a rapid retry loop.

If your goal is a website screenshot rather than a PDF, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. Its one-call API returns an image or PDF, and its documented request can be made with Python:
import requests
r = requests.get(
"https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot",
params={"access_key": "YOUR_API_KEY", "url": "https://stripe.com"},
timeout=90,
)
open("shot.webp", "wb").write(r.content)
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for options and response handling. It accepts cookie and consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture; each of those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed, and response headers identify the page verdict and billing status. Its MCP server provides take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf tools for Claude, Cursor, and other MCP clients. The free plan includes 1,000 shots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 shots.
Sign up for ScreenshotNeo and start with 1,000 free screenshots a month, with no card required.
Data handling and practical safeguards
Html2Pdf.app’s documentation says generated PDFs are processed temporarily and not permanently stored on its servers, and raw HTML or text submitted in html is not stored in conversion logs. It also says selected request metadata and a source URL supplied in html may be retained in those logs. These are statements in the provider’s documentation, not an independent audit; consult its Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement for further details before sending sensitive content. Avoid placing secrets in URLs or document markup unless your data-handling requirements permit it.
