Gyre can schedule prerecorded video to play as a YouTube livestream, while a YouTube Premiere schedules an uploaded video for viewers to watch together. They are separate workflows: create a Premiere in YouTube Studio, not by assuming Gyre’s Scheduler will create one. If you want a Gyre-powered livestream to send viewers to a Premiere, create the Premiere first and configure YouTube Live Redirect on the livestream.

Choose the experience you want

Option What viewers watch Where you set it up Best fit
Gyre scheduled livestream A video or playlist sent as a live broadcast Gyre, using YouTube channel authorization or manual YouTube event settings Replaying prerecorded content as a livestream or planning its start and end
YouTube Premiere An uploaded video on a pre-release watch page with reminders, countdown, and chat YouTube Studio Launching a particular uploaded video at a shared time
Live-to-Premiere handoff A livestream followed by a Premiere YouTube Live Redirect, configured on the livestream after creating the Premiere Using a livestream as a lead-in to a scheduled video

Gyre’s documentation describes scheduling livestreams, but does not establish that Gyre directly creates or schedules YouTube Premieres. YouTube Live Redirect is a YouTube feature, not a Gyre feature. Gyre’s 24/7 stream scheduling guide and Scheduler instructions describe the livestream side; YouTube documents Premieres and redirect separately.

Schedule prerecorded content as a livestream through Gyre

1. Check that the YouTube channel can livestream

YouTube requires a verified channel with no livestreaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time livestream activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave enabling it until just before the event. See YouTube’s encoder livestream instructions.

2. Pick a Gyre connection method

Gyre describes a YouTube API route in which you select YouTube, authorize the Google Account that owns the channel, and configure the broadcast in Gyre. Its manual route uses YouTube Live Control Room event and stream details. The controls differ, so follow the current interface for the route you choose. Gyre explains channel authorization in its channel-authorization guide.

3. Set the content and broadcast details

In Gyre, provide the broadcast parameters, then add the video files or playlist you want to play. Check the title, privacy, sequence, and planned start and end times. Product controls and plan eligibility may change; confirm the options available in your account rather than relying on an old interface description.

4. For manual setup, create the YouTube live event

  1. Open YouTube Studio and enter the Live Control Room.
  2. Choose Manage, then Schedule stream.
  3. Create a new stream or reuse settings, then set the event details and visibility.
  4. Copy the event’s stream URL and stream key into the corresponding Gyre manual-connection fields.

YouTube’s current encoder setup guide documents the Live Control Room flow. Gyre’s manual Scheduler instructions also describe using a scheduled public YouTube broadcast with auto-start and, when needed, auto-stop. Verify those switches in the current YouTube and Gyre interfaces; API-based and manual setups should not be assumed to expose identical controls.

  • 2 × USB 3. 0 ports, 2 x USB 2. 0 Ports
  • 2 × micro HDMI ports supproting up to 4Kp60 video resolution
  • Micro SD card slot for loading operating system and data storage

5. Set the Gyre schedule and verify before airtime

In Gyre’s Streams Scheduler, select the broadcast and set a start time, end time, or both where the chosen setup supports them. Before the public start, confirm the event exists, the correct content is attached, privacy is right, and the schedule is in the intended time zone. YouTube recommends setting up encoder streams at least two hours ahead and starting an encoder at least 15 minutes before the scheduled event; for a cloud workflow, use that lead time to check the event and preview/readiness rather than treating the computer-encoder instruction as a Gyre-specific requirement. Details are in YouTube’s livestreaming tips.

Protect the stream key

The stream key tells YouTube where to accept the encoder feed. Treat it like a password: enter it only in the intended service, do not share it, and reset it if it is exposed. YouTube says resetting a key requires channel owner or manager permission; see YouTube’s stream-key guidance.

  • 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz IEEE 802.11ac wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, BLE Gigabit Ethernet
  • 2 USB 3.0 ports; 2 USB 2.0 ports.
  • Raspberry Pi standard 40 pin GPIO header (fully backwards compatible with previous boards)

Schedule a YouTube Premiere

  1. Upload the video in YouTube Studio and add its details.
  2. Choose Schedule and enter the publication date and time.
  3. Select Set as Premiere, configure a countdown if desired, then save or schedule.
  4. Share the public watch page so viewers can set reminders, comment, or chat before the start.

YouTube recommends scheduling a Premiere at least 24 hours ahead to give viewers around the world an opportunity to see its thumbnail in their subscriptions feed. Premieres do not support Shorts, 360/VR180 video, or output above 1080p. See YouTube’s Premiere instructions and Premiere tips.

Send viewers from a Gyre livestream to a Premiere

  1. Create and schedule the Premiere in YouTube Studio first.
  2. Set up the Gyre-backed livestream as the source event.
  3. In YouTube’s Live Redirect settings for that livestream, choose the Premiere as the destination.
  4. Check the selected destination and event timing before the stream begins.

YouTube advises allowing viewers about two seconds after the livestream ends for screens to reload to the Premiere. The redirect is configured through YouTube, not Gyre. See YouTube’s Live Redirect settings.

Check content rights and monetization expectations

A scheduled broadcast does not grant permission to use the video, music, or other material it contains. Make sure you have the rights or applicable permissions for every element before streaming. YouTube’s copyright guidance explains its copyright policies. Separately, permission to stream does not guarantee monetization: YouTube’s channel monetization policies address reused content and other eligibility requirements.

Troubleshoot before the scheduled start

  • Livestreaming is unavailable: verify the channel and check for restrictions; if enabling it for the first time, allow up to 24 hours for activation.
  • The event does not receive a feed: check that Gyre is connected to the intended channel and that the stream URL and key correspond to the scheduled YouTube event. Reset a key if you suspect it was exposed, then update the intended service with the replacement.
  • The stream is visible to the wrong audience or not visible: inspect the event’s privacy and scheduled time in YouTube, then confirm the matching broadcast settings in Gyre.
  • The wrong video plays: review the selected files and playlist order in Gyre before the scheduled start.
  • The Premiere is not a redirect destination: create and schedule it first, then revisit the live stream’s YouTube Live Redirect settings and select the intended Premiere.
  • The event starts late or lacks a ready preview: check the event and source well before airtime; YouTube’s encoder guidance recommends a two-hour setup window and starting an encoder at least 15 minutes early.

Or let it run in the cloud

If your goal is simply to keep prerecorded video looping as a YouTube livestream, StreamNeo is another cloud option: upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; the stream runs at the quality uploaded, up to 4K 60fps, for one price per slot. It automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card. Monthly pricing is $9.99 per month. It plays uploaded videos to YouTube; it does not create a Premiere or broadcast from a camera. Start the free first day with StreamNeo.
