To loop a Kannada gospel video on YouTube Live, use FFmpeg’s -stream_loop -1 to repeat the file and -re to read it at its normal rate, then send the output to the RTMPS server URL and stream key from YouTube Studio. You’ll need a compatible video file, a computer and network connection that can stay on for the broadcast, and permission to stream the recording and audio.

What you need before starting

  • A video file you have the right to broadcast, including the underlying music recording, lyrics, and arrangement.
  • FFmpeg installed on a computer that can remain powered on and connected for the length of the stream.
  • A YouTube channel able to create a live stream. Eligibility and account restrictions are channel-specific; check YouTube Studio.
  • A stable upload connection with enough capacity for your chosen video bitrate, plus processing headroom if you re-encode.

Looping a file technically does not establish permission to rebroadcast it. Confirm rights for this exact recording and its intended live use before going live. YouTube’s requirements and any channel eligibility limits may also apply.

Inspect the file and your FFmpeg build

Use FFprobe, which is included with many FFmpeg installations, to inspect the streams, dimensions, frame rate, and audio track:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
ffprobe "input.mp4"
ffmpeg -version

Replace input.mp4 with your filename. Note whether the file has video and audio, its actual frame rate and resolution, and its codecs. The correct settings depend on those details; there is no universal command that can be guaranteed to fit an unknown file. Check your local FFmpeg help if an option is unavailable in your build.

AV Access AV Over IP Encoder 1080P, HDMI to IP Streaming (HDIP100E)
  • 【NOTE】Encoder and Decoder are packaged separately. This link only contain Encoder, You need to buy Decoder here: B0B214QTQT.
  • 【Unlimited Scalability vs Fixed HDMI Systems】Basic HDMI extenders are limited to one transmitter → one receiver. With AV over IP, you can add more decoders anytime, scaling from 1 screen to dozens of displays (up to 50)without replacing your system.
  • 【Build Video Walls & Multi-Screen Layouts】Traditional HDMI extenders cannot create video walls. This system allows you to build video walls up to 8×8 or manage multiple screens independently for dynamic content display.
  • 【Flexible Routing vs Fixed Signal Path】HDMI extenders send signal to only one display. AV over IP allows flexible routing, so any source can be shown on any screen at any time.
  • 【Works Over Standard Network Infrastructure】No need for long HDMI cables or dedicated wiring. This system uses standard Ethernet switches, making installation cleaner, more flexible, and easier to expand.

Create a YouTube live stream and protect its key

  1. Open YouTube Studio and enter the Live Control Room. Create or schedule a stream.
  2. Copy the ingest server URL and stream key shown for that stream. Use the RTMPS endpoint when available and supported by your FFmpeg build.
  3. Treat the stream key like a password. Keep it out of public scripts, screenshots, and repositories. If it is exposed, reset it in Live Control Room and update your encoder.

The exact endpoint and key must come from your own Live Control Room. Do not use a sample URL or another channel’s credentials.

Choose copy mode or re-encode

Stream-copy avoids encoding work, but only use it if the source’s codecs and parameters are accepted by YouTube’s ingest and no changes are needed. Re-encoding offers control over output settings but uses processing resources and may change the source quality. Since the file is unknown, inspect it first and test the chosen method.

Approach Use it when Tradeoff
-c copy The source streams already meet ingest requirements and need no transformation. Uses less compute, but provides less control over output settings.
Re-encode The source is incompatible, or you need to set a supported codec, frame rate, or other output parameter. Uses CPU or other encoding resources and can alter quality.

Run an illustrative H.264 stream command

This template re-encodes to H.264 at 30 fps, loops the input indefinitely, and paces file reading at its native rate. It is illustrative, not a tested command. Replace the filename and output with the exact RTMPS URL and key from YouTube Studio; keep the real credential private.

ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -re -i "input.mp4"
  -map 0:v:0 -map 0:a?
-c:v libx264 -preset veryfast -tune zerolatency
  -pix_fmt yuv420p -r 30 -g 60 -keyint_min 60 -sc_threshold 0
  -b:v 6M -maxrate 6M -bufsize 12M
  -c:a aac -b:a 128k -ar 44100 -ac 2
  -f flv "<YouTube RTMPS server URL>/<stream key>"

-stream_loop -1 and -re are input options, so they appear before -i. The first repeats the input without a set end; the second reads it at its native rate instead of sending the file as fast as possible.

This example’s 6 Mbps video target is within YouTube’s recommended H.264 range for 720p at 30 fps: YouTube lists 3 Mbps minimum and 8 Mbps recommended for that profile. Do not use 6 Mbps as a universal target. Choose resolution, frame rate, and bitrate for the actual source, your upload headroom, and YouTube’s current recommendations. YouTube recommends a two-second keyframe interval and says not to exceed four seconds; at 30 fps, -g 60 sets a 60-frame, two-second GOP. YouTube also lists 128 Kbps stereo audio as a recommended advanced setting; it is not a universal requirement. See YouTube’s live encoder settings.

The optional audio map -map 0:a? permits the command to proceed when no audio stream is present, but it does not create a silent audio track. If the file has no audio and the stream needs an audio track, configure one deliberately and test it. YouTube lists AAC or MP3 audio for RTMP/RTMPS ingest.

If the source already meets ingest requirements, a copy-mode variant can use -c copy instead of the video and audio encoder options. Do not retain transformations or output filters with stream-copy. Compatibility must be verified against the file and YouTube’s ingest requirements.

Test and monitor the broadcast

  1. Start the encoder and confirm FFmpeg logs show a successful connection and ongoing output.
  2. Check the Live Control Room preview and stream-health messages; a running FFmpeg process alone does not prove viewers can see the stream.
  3. Listen for the audio and watch moving video before relying on the broadcast. YouTube recommends testing before going live and monitoring stream health.
  4. After verifying the feed, start or manage the broadcast in Live Control Room according to the stream setup.

YouTube documents RTMP and RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS. FFmpeg describes RTMPS as RTMP over SSL; use the endpoint provided by YouTube rather than constructing one yourself. See FFmpeg protocol documentation.

Troubleshoot common problems

No preview or ingest

Check that the server URL and key match the stream in Live Control Room, that the stream is configured and started there as needed, and that FFmpeg logs show a connection. Then review YouTube’s ingest health. A successful local process is not proof of a viewable broadcast.

Missing audio

Run FFprobe and confirm the file contains an audio stream. Check that the command maps it and encodes it in an accepted format, such as AAC or MP3 for RTMP/RTMPS. The optional map avoids an error when audio is absent; it does not synthesize silence.

Stuttering or high CPU use

Encoding may exceed the computer’s available capacity, or the upload may not sustain the selected bitrate. Try a lower output resolution or bitrate, or a faster encoder preset, while staying within YouTube’s recommendations for the selected profile. Test the result and watch stream health; performance depends on the machine and connection.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The loop behaves badly at the boundary

Review FFmpeg logs and inspect the file’s timestamps and codec parameters. A loop boundary can expose properties of a particular file, but reports about one file or setup do not establish a general failure or universal fix.

The stream stops after a disconnect

An infinite input loop repeats the file; it does not restart FFmpeg after a process failure or repair a network outage. Unattended operation requires an always-on machine and suitable process monitoring or supervision. Test recovery behavior before depending on a long broadcast.

Cost and operating choices

Running FFmpeg locally avoids a separate server bill if you already have suitable hardware, but your computer, power, and connection must remain available. A VPS or dedicated server can keep the encoder away from your home computer, but costs money and still requires adequate upload capacity and process monitoring; compare providers’ region, bandwidth, acceptable-use terms, uptime terms, and pricing before choosing one.

For a cloud-hosted YouTube loop without leaving a home computer on, StreamNeo is an alternative: upload the recording, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. It loops uploaded videos to YouTube from the cloud; it does not broadcast from a camera. Each slot includes one always-on stream, looping and playlists, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, automatic recovery if YouTube drops the stream, and StreamNeo team support.
