Use Tab Search to return to a page that is still open, bookmarks to save pages for later, and tab groups to keep related pages together. Chrome’s address bar can also search tabs, bookmarks, and browsing history, making it a useful starting point when you are not sure where a page is stored.
Choose the right Chrome feature for the page you need

Find a tab that is already open
When a page is still open but buried among many tabs, search the open tabs instead of scanning the tab strip one by one.
- Select Tab Search on the tab strip.
- Enter a word from the page title or website.
- Select the matching result to switch to that tab.
You can also open Tab Search with Ctrl + Shift + A on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + A on Mac. Alternatively, click the address bar, type @tabs, press Tab or Space, then enter a keyword and select a tab from the suggestions. Google Chrome Help
Save a page so you can return to it later
A bookmark is the right choice when you want to keep a page beyond the current browsing session or find it again without relying on browsing history.

- Open the page you want to keep.
- Select the bookmark star beside the address bar.
- To make a frequently used bookmark easy to reach, enable the bookmarks bar through More > Bookmarks and lists > Show bookmarks bar.
For a saved page that is not visible on the bar, click the address bar, type @bookmarks, press Tab or Space, and enter a keyword. Select the matching bookmark from the suggestions. Google Chrome Help
Browse bookmarks when search is not enough
If you recognize a bookmark by its folder or position rather than its title, open More > Bookmarks and lists > Bookmark Manager or Show all bookmarks. The navigation panel offers visual and compact views, so you can browse the saved items directly. Google Chrome Help

Organize related pages with tab groups
Use a tab group when several open pages belong to the same project or task. Give the group a short, descriptive name and a color so it is easier to recognize. Collapse it when you do not need the tabs in view.
Chrome can save a closed tab group in the bookmarks bar or the Tab groups menu, where you can open it again. Settings can show tab groups in the bookmarks bar and automatically pin new groups there. Google Workspace Learning Center

Choose Tab Search when you remember a page or website keyword; choose a named group when you are more likely to remember the project that the pages belong to. This is a practical distinction between the features, not a measured speed comparison.
Use the address bar to search across places
When you are unsure whether a page is open, bookmarked, or simply visited before, try a query in Chrome’s address bar. It can search the web, bookmarks, and browsing history. Some address-bar features depend on whether your default search engine supports them. If an expected suggestion does not appear, use Tab Search for open pages or Bookmark Manager for saved pages. Find a page you visited before
If you did not bookmark a page and it is no longer open, check browsing history. You can search history through the address bar or open History from Chrome’s menu. History is useful for a page you remember visiting; a bookmark is more dependable when you deliberately want to keep a page for future reference. Google Chrome Help Google Chrome Help
Access saved information on another device
Signing in with the same Google Account can make saved information available across signed-in devices. Google says an account can save up to 100,000 bookmarks; its sync help page does not give a publication or revision year for that capacity figure. A custom sync passphrase affects what history is available on other devices, so history may not behave like bookmarks when you move between devices. Google Chrome Help Google Chrome Help
