For a simple 24/7 YouTube feed, use Castr’s Pre-Recorded Streams: upload MP4 videos, arrange them in a playlist, choose Loop, connect YouTube, and start the stream. If you need a timetable with distinct programs, planned breaks, or a mix of prerecorded and live content, use TV Playout instead. The two features have different setup steps and plan limits.
Castr carries the video and audio you prepare; the reviewed setup guides do not show that it translates or dubs program audio. Make sure your source content is already in the regional language you want viewers to hear. Verify caption-language support separately before relying on captions.
Choose the Castr workflow that matches your channel

Use Pre-Recorded Streams when the channel’s purpose is an uninterrupted rotation, such as a collection of regional-language music videos or devotional recordings. Choose TV Playout when the order and timing matter—for example, a morning program followed by a live event and later recorded shows.

Prepare the videos and check plan limits
For Pre-Recorded Streams
Castr’s current setup guide says this feature accepts MP4 files and is available on all Castr plans. You can upload from a computer or import from cloud storage. File count and size depend on your subscription, so check the current limits for your plan before preparing a large library. The Pre-Recorded Streams rules are separate from TV Playout’s limits.
- Check that each file plays correctly and that its audio is in the intended language.
- Arrange the videos in the order viewers should see them.
- Use content you have the rights to stream on YouTube. A successful upload or Castr setup does not establish that a video is copyright-safe.
For TV Playout
Castr’s July 2026 Help Center plan table gives these per-playout limits. They are Castr product limits, not independent performance results; check the live plan matrix before subscribing or designing a schedule.

The same July 2026 table lists one TV Playout per plan. Loop mode is shown only for Premium, Ultra, and Events. If you rely on TV Playout for an ongoing channel, schedule renewal or maintenance before the loop period ends.

- Open Pre-Recorded Streams in your Castr dashboard and create a stream. The Castr guide names this feature; dashboard labels may change, so follow the current interface if it differs.
- Add your MP4 videos. Upload them from your computer or import them from cloud storage. Confirm the files meet your subscription’s count and size limits.
- Arrange the playlist. Put the videos in the intended playback order and review the transitions and audio.
- Choose Loop for a repeating feed. Castr also offers a Date & Time mode; use that when you want a stream to begin at a specified time rather than repeat continuously.
- Connect YouTube as the destination. Castr’s YouTube connection guide documents an API connection and a manual streaming-server-and-key connection. The guide dates from 2023, so check the current Castr dashboard and YouTube account flow.
- Start the stream from Castr, then check YouTube to confirm that the stream appears and is playing with the expected audio and video.
If you use Castr’s manual stream-key connection, its YouTube guide says to edit the stream description in YouTube’s dashboard. Keep the key private; anyone who obtains it may be able to broadcast to your channel.

Build a timed channel with TV Playout
- Create a Castr Livestream destination first. TV Playout sends its schedule to an existing Castr Livestream, rather than creating that destination for you.
- Connect YouTube to the Livestream. Castr documents connecting through an API-selected channel or event, or manually with YouTube’s streaming server and key. Since the connection guide is from 2023, verify the current steps in both dashboards.
- Create a TV Playout and add prerecorded files and, if needed, live streams to its schedule.
- Set the order and timing. Schedule items consecutively; use a Break when you want an intentional interval rather than leaving an unplanned gap.
- Choose whether to loop the schedule if your plan supports it. Set an end date within the maximum loop period for that plan, and make a reminder to renew or revise the schedule before it expires.
- Activate the schedule and verify the result on YouTube. Check a transition between items as well as the start of the broadcast.
Make the regional language accessible
The language of the broadcast comes first from the media you supply: confirm that narration, music, and any on-screen text match the audience you intend to serve. Castr’s reviewed workflow describes accepting prepared files and routing them to YouTube; it does not establish automatic translation or dubbing of the program audio.
Castr has a live captioning feature that is currently described as beta. Its 2026 Help Center page says users can select up to four caption languages, but does not provide the supported-language inventory reviewed here. Check in the dashboard or with Castr that your exact spoken and caption languages are supported before promising captions to viewers. The page describes captions in the Castr player, so confirm where captions will appear if viewers watch on YouTube.

Castr says the beta includes 10 free captioning hours per account. It also offers duration settings up to 24 hours or Unlimited, and says the allowance and pricing may change after beta. Treat those terms as beta-specific, not a permanent plan entitlement.
Test, monitor, and troubleshoot
Before the first full run
- Confirm the correct YouTube channel or event is connected and the stream is visible to the intended audience.
- Listen for the right language, intelligible levels, and complete audio on at least one video or schedule transition.
- Check that the playlist repeats, or that the TV Playout schedule advances as intended.
- Verify the title, description, and other YouTube details in the destination dashboard.
Common problems and fixes
