Use FFmpeg’s concat demuxer to play a fixed list of aarti videos in order. Create a text file with one file entry per clip, then pass it to FFmpeg. This creates a finite sequence; it does not, by itself, make the list repeat forever or let you change a running playlist.
Make a playlist file
Create a plain-text file named playlist.txt in the directory where you will run FFmpeg. Put each video on its own line, in the order you want the clips to play:
file 'aarti-morning.mp4'
file 'aarti-evening.mp4'
file 'aarti-special.mp4'Each file directive names one input, and FFmpeg processes the entries sequentially. Relative paths are convenient when the playlist and videos are together. For the concat demuxer to recognize the optional format marker automatically, put ffconcat version 1.0 exactly on the first line, without leading whitespace or a byte-order mark.
Paths with spaces or special characters
Quote or escape spaces and special characters in file paths. The concat demuxer’s default safe setting is 1: it accepts relative paths made from portable characters (letters, digits, period, underscore and hyphen), but rejects unsafe paths and directives. If trusted playlist entries need absolute paths or other characters, use -safe 0 as an input option:

ffmpeg -f concat -safe 0 -i playlist.txt -c copy output.mp4This relaxes the demuxer’s path checks, so use it only with a playlist you trust. For a straightforward relative playlist of ordinary file names, leave the default safety check enabled.
Join the clips into one output file
For clips whose streams are compatible, run:
ffmpeg -f concat -i playlist.txt -c copy output.mp4-f concatselects FFmpeg’s concat demuxer.-i playlist.txtsupplies the playlist as the input.-c copycopies the streams without re-encoding.output.mp4is the resulting finite video file. Choose a container that supports the input streams; MP4 is an example, not a guarantee that every input can be copied into it.
FFmpeg’s documentation describes the demuxer as reading a list of files and demuxing them one after another as if their packets had been muxed together. The result is one sequence, not a live-updating playlist. FFmpeg command-line options generally apply to the next input or output, so keep input options such as -f concat and -safe 0 before -i, and output options such as -c copy after the inputs.

Know when stream copying will work
The concat demuxer does not repair mismatched media. All listed files need the same streams, including codecs and time bases. If clips have different stream layouts or otherwise cannot be joined by stream copying, use FFmpeg’s concat filter and re-encode as needed; FFmpeg’s FAQ recommends that approach when re-encoding is required.
The demuxer places each following file’s timestamps using the preceding file’s duration. Incorrect duration metadata can create artifacts such as timestamp or playback irregularities. A duration directive in the playlist can override a stored duration. Providing durations for every file also makes seeking across the concatenated output possible.

Choose the right meaning of “rotate”
This playlist workflow handles a fixed sequence of clips played once in the listed order. The concat demuxer’s documented sequential behavior does not establish an infinite-loop command or a way to edit the playlist while FFmpeg is running. If you need either behavior, treat it as a different requirement rather than assuming this command provides it.
For an ordered list that should become a single file, use the concat demuxer when the streams are compatible and you want to avoid re-encoding. Use the concat filter when joining requires re-encoding. FFmpeg’s FAQ distinguishes concatenating from muxing, merging and mixing: here, concatenating means placing the clips one after another.

Troubleshoot playlist and output problems
- Playlist or file not found: Confirm the working directory, playlist name and every path in the file. Relative paths are interpreted as paths to inputs, so check that each referenced video is reachable.
- Invalid or rejected path: Check the quoting and escaping. If the trusted list uses absolute or unusual paths, consider
-safe 0before-i playlist.txt; it accepts any file name and relaxes path checks. - A clip will not open: Try opening each listed file individually with FFmpeg and correct the entry or address the input-file problem before concatenating.
- Concat reports stream mismatches: Compare the files’ stream layouts, codecs and time bases. The demuxer expects them to match; use the concat filter when re-encoding is needed.
- Artifacts or timing irregularities at clip boundaries: Check the duration metadata. Add a
durationdirective to override an inaccurate stored duration; durations for every file also enable seeking across the joined output. - Output container or stream-copy failure: Verify that the chosen container supports the input streams. If the inputs cannot be copied into one compatible output, use a re-encoding workflow such as the concat filter.
FFmpeg’s all-in-one manual is regenerated nightly and may differ from an older installed build. If an option behaves differently, check your local version with ffmpeg -version and consult documentation matching that installation.
