Use FFmpeg’s concat demuxer to list relaxation clips in order, then apply -stream_loop -1 before the playlist input to repeat that sequence while FFmpeg creates a longer file. The clips must have compatible streams for this method; if they differ, normalize and re-encode them instead. If you only want a video or playlist to repeat in YouTube’s player, you do not need to export a new file.
Choose between making a long file and looping playback
A playlist file is useful when you want a single longer video to upload to YouTube or distribute elsewhere. FFmpeg reads each listed clip in sequence; its concat demuxer does not create a permanent YouTube broadcast by itself.
- Make an exported video: Use FFmpeg when you need a new file with a chosen runtime. Rendering takes processing time and creates a file that needs storage and uploading.
- Repeat in YouTube: If you only want continuous playback, use YouTube’s player loop control for one video or the playlist controls to repeat a playlist. No FFmpeg export is required. See YouTube’s loop instructions.
Prepare the playlist file
Put the clips in playback order
Create a plain-text file named, for example, relaxation.ffconcat, in the same folder as the media files. Add one file directive per clip:
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
ffconcat version 1.0
file 'relaxation-01.mp4'
file 'relaxation-02.mp4'
file 'relaxation-03.mp4'
The ffconcat version 1.0 header is optional for a plain text list. If you include it for automatic format recognition, it must be the exact first line, without extra spaces or a byte-order mark. The FFmpeg Project documents the concat demuxer’s file-list format at its concat demuxer documentation.

Check paths and trust
Relative paths such as the examples above are simplest when the playlist and clips share a folder. Paths with spaces or special characters need correct quoting or escaping. The command below uses -safe 0 to allow paths that the default safety checks may reject. Use it only with a playlist you trust; do not feed it an untrusted file list.
Check whether the clips are compatible
The concat demuxer expects the files to have the same streams, codecs, and time bases. Unequal audio and video durations or inaccurate duration information can produce timestamp problems, gaps, or artifacts at joins. Do not assume that a playlist of arbitrary MP4 files can be joined by stream-copying.
- If the clips have matching streams and timing characteristics, the concat demuxer can sequence them without first re-encoding every clip.
- If they differ, decode and re-encode to a consistent set of streams. The FFmpeg FAQ describes the concat filter as an option when re-encoding is needed: FFmpeg FAQ.
Make a short test render before starting a long job. Watch and listen across each join, not just at the beginning, to catch missing audio, gaps, or abrupt changes.

Render a two-hour looping file
For compatible local inputs, this command repeats the playlist and stops the output after two hours:
ffmpeg -stream_loop -1 -f concat -safe 0 -i relaxation.ffconcat
-t 02:00:00 -c:v libx264 -c:a aac -ar 48000
-movflags +faststart relaxation-loop.mp4
-stream_loop -1repeats the input indefinitely;-1means infinite looping and0means no looping. It is an input option, so place it before the relevant-i. FFmpeg’s command-line documentation explains option scope and ordering: FFmpeg command-line documentation.-f concatselects the concat demuxer, and-i relaxation.ffconcatsupplies the playlist.-t 02:00:00limits the output to two hours. Change this duration to suit your upload; the infinite input loop alone does not decide when a finite export ends.-c:v libx264 -c:a aacencodes video as H.264 and audio as AAC.-ar 48000sets the audio sampling rate to 48 kHz.-movflags +faststartmoves MP4 metadata toward the beginning of the file, which can help playback start before the entire file is downloaded.
This is a command pattern, not a guarantee that every input will work unchanged. Confirm that your installed FFmpeg build has the named encoders and that the source streams suit the chosen output. For mismatched clips, use a re-encoding workflow that normalizes the clips before concatenation rather than relying on this demuxer command.
Use YouTube-compatible output settings
YouTube recommends an MP4 container and H.264 video, with AAC-LC or Opus audio, 48 kHz audio, progressive scan, and a frame rate that matches the recorded content. Its resolution-specific bitrate guidance depends on the output resolution and frame-rate category; choose the applicable rate from YouTube’s recommended upload encoding settings rather than applying one bitrate to every file.

Preserve the source frame rate when practical, and do not upscale low-resolution footage expecting that to restore missing detail. YouTube processes uploads into playback formats, and processing time can depend on the file’s properties and traffic; encoding settings do not guarantee a particular processing time or playback quality. See YouTube’s upload guidance.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesRespect rights for every clip and soundtrack
Upload only footage and audio that you own or are authorized to use for the intended purpose. Check the license terms for each source asset, including any restrictions on commercial use, redistribution, edits, or looping. YouTube’s formatting page says files delivered through the partner workflow it describes must come from the copyright holder or an authorized representative; that statement is specific to that workflow, not a complete account of every uploader’s rights: YouTube video and audio formatting specifications.
Troubleshoot common problems
FFmpeg cannot recognize the playlist header
If you use ffconcat version 1.0, check that it is the first line exactly, with no blank line, leading spaces, or byte-order mark. Otherwise, remove the optional header and use a plain text list.

A path with spaces fails
Confirm that the file path is quoted or escaped correctly and that it resolves from the working directory where FFmpeg is running. Keep files together and use simple filenames for an initial test.
The render stops after one pass
Check that -stream_loop -1 appears before the input it should repeat. Also verify that the output duration option, such as -t 02:00:00, is long enough for the desired runtime.
There are gaps, glitches, or missing audio at joins
Compare the clips’ streams, codecs, time bases, and audio/video durations. The concat demuxer requires compatible streams; re-encode or normalize inconsistent inputs before joining them.

The uploaded file is still processing
YouTube processes uploads for playback, and processing time varies with file properties and traffic. Check the upload’s processing status rather than treating a long render or processing delay as proof that the playlist loop failed.
