Use an Epic Seven tier list as a dated shortlist for a specific activity—not as a universal ranking or a build order. Choose the mode first, check what each hero contributes to the team, and invest only when your available gear can make that role work.
What an Epic Seven tier list can—and cannot—tell you
A tier list is a snapshot of someone’s judgment, not an official in-game grade. Epic7DB says its 2026 PvP and PvE rankings reflect top-ranked player opinions and the site’s experience; the Epic Seven Wiki labels its own rankings a September 2026 snapshot and notes that balance changes can shift placements. Epic7DB’s use of the word “official” should not be read as endorsement by Smilegate: its own description says the rankings are based on opinions and experience. Epic7DB’s tier list and the Epic Seven Wiki tier list are third-party guides.
Different publishers may use tiers to mean different things, such as broad usefulness or strength in a narrower situation. Read the explanation on the page you are using; do not assume that an A on one site is equivalent to an A on another. A ranking also cannot establish a hero’s performance for every encounter, your account’s readiness, or a precise build.

Start with the activity you need to clear
Before comparing heroes, name the activity: story progression, a particular Hunt, Abyss, automatic Arena, Guild content, or real-time Arena (RTA). Use a list or guide for that mode where possible. Pocket Gamer’s guide, labeled version 1.0.974 and updated September 16, 2026, distinguishes story PvE needs from Arena PvP; the Epic Seven Wiki also separates PvE and PvP and notes that automatic Arena and RTA do not use the same team. Pocket Gamer’s Epic Seven tier list and the Epic Seven Wiki guide hub provide those mode-specific perspectives.
#1 Best Overall
- Epic is a fantasy card gam which aims to recreate the TCG-style experience from a single box, with no additional purchases required
- Epic is a card game designed to start quickly but also to reward deep, strategic plays.
- In Epic, you take on the role of an elder god, in conflict with other elder gods.
- The cards in your deck are your champions, who fight for you, and events, which represent your will imposed on the mortal realm.
- The turn sequence is easy but there are many options to choose from
For a story team, Pocket Gamer offers a tank, healer, and area-damage dealer as a broad starting shape. Treat it as a guide, not a fixed recipe: a stage’s objective and enemy mechanics determine what the team actually needs. A lineup that handles ordinary waves may not solve a boss or a different mode.
Translate a rank into a team job
Ask what the hero would do for the particular team you are building. Common useful contributions include damage, protection, healing, control, cleansing, and setup. This is a practical way to think about a roster, not a complete official role taxonomy. The important question is not simply whether a hero ranks highly, but whether that hero fills a missing job and works with the teammates you can field.
Rank #2
- Identify what the activity asks the team to do, then note which job your current team lacks.
- Check whether the candidate supplies that job or duplicates something the team already does adequately.
- Consider whether the hero’s contribution depends on a teammate or setup you do not have.
- Compare the candidate with an already-developed substitute that covers the same need.
Use team examples as evidence, not a universal prescription
For a specific Hunt, recorded teams can help you see how players cover the encounter’s jobs. Hideout Guides’ Hunt page reports 249 teams and clears recorded from September 10–16, 2026, attributing the data to the official strategy guide. The page is a third-party presentation of that material, and the count is a sample—not a controlled performance study, win rate, or proof that the most-listed hero is best. Hideout Guides’ Hunt teams shows multiple four-hero combinations within Hunt categories.
When you consult examples, look for how a team’s roles and mechanics address the encounter. Do not copy a lineup just because it appears often: your gear, available heroes, and the specific objective may differ.
Rank #3
- SEVEN ARMIES DESTINED FOR BATTLE: Claim your right to the Iron Throne with one of seven Noble House armies. Each army is composed of 45 finely crafted game pieces (315 game pieces total) represented by two different sculpted designs
- Over 600 unique game pieces including armies represented by noble Houses
- 3 different ways to play: Skirmish, Dominion, World at War
- 2-7 Player | Ages 17+ | 60+ Min Play Time
Check gear before spending resources
A tier placement does not tell you whether your account can build the hero well enough for the job. Hideout Guides’ overview, labeled updated October 2026, describes teams of four heroes and six gear pieces per hero, and notes that gear substats affect power. The Epic Seven Wiki guide hub connects Hunt farming with gear and progression. Together, these guides make gear a practical constraint: assess what equipment you can actually provide before treating a highly ranked hero as an immediate upgrade. Hideout Guides’ Epic Seven overview.
The reviewed guides do not establish current, comprehensive hero-by-hero stat thresholds for every matchup. Avoid treating an unverified number as a universal requirement. Instead, use a build guide for the particular hero and activity, and compare its requirements with the gear you have; the tier list alone cannot answer that question.
Rank #4
- Buy, Sell, Trade and Assemble mutants like Wolverine, Jean Grey, and Morph to build your superpowered dream team.
- Includes 6 custom tokens: Wolverine’s Cowl, Cyclops’ Visor, Magneto’s Helmet, Rogue’s Gloves, Gambit’s Cards, & Storm’s Thunderbolt
- Chance and Community Chest cards renamed Friends of Humanity and Prime Sentinel.
- Features X-Men ’97 animated series illustrations and design, perfect for collectors and Marvel superfans.
- Ages 8+ | 2–6 players | Playtime 60+ minutes
Spend promotion and skill-up resources toward a real need
Building every highly ranked hero is not a practical account plan. The Epic Seven Wiki’s progression advice prioritizes a Hunt core and useful support before later PvP investment. That is an unofficial guide’s recommendation, not an in-game rule, but it offers a useful way to frame opportunity cost: put scarce upgrade resources toward a job that advances your account now, such as a reliable first Hunt clear, rather than a ranking in isolation.
Before committing, consider whether the candidate is already developed, whether a substitute fills the same role, and whether the proposed investment unlocks the activity you want to do. A strong hero that requires gear or teammates you cannot currently field may be a later project rather than the best immediate choice.

A practical comparison when two heroes look close
Use these questions to compare candidates for the same task:
- Mode and encounter: Is the ranking or example relevant to the activity and stage you are targeting?
- Team role: Which needed contribution does each candidate provide, and what does the rest of your lineup already cover?
- Gear fit: Can your account equip the candidate for that job, based on a suitable build guide?
- Teammates and substitutes: Do you have the units or setup the candidate needs, or an accessible alternative for the same role?
- Investment cost: Which choice better advances your current progression priorities for the promotion and skill-up resources involved?
- Freshness: When was the list updated, and have balance changes or a change of activity made that snapshot less relevant?
This is a decision framework, not an official scoring formula. The available guides do not provide a validated formula for predicting a hero’s success across accounts.
Keep the date attached to the decision
The cited rankings are dated guides, not permanent statements about the live meta. Pocket Gamer’s page is marked version 1.0.974 and September 16, 2026; the Epic Seven Wiki describes its ranking as a September 2026 snapshot. Revisit the relevant list after balance changes and when your target activity changes. A ranking can help narrow the candidates, but the final choice should still match your encounter, team, gear, and account priorities.
