You can use an Airtel Xstream connection to send a continuous music stream to YouTube Live, but the plan’s advertised speed does not guarantee that your connection can sustain a particular broadcast. Measure upload speed at the computer that will encode the stream, choose a bitrate that leaves bandwidth headroom, and secure the rights to every track before going live. What you need before starting
Airtel Xstream supplies the internet connection; an encoder sends the video and audio to YouTube. For a music radio-style broadcast, the encoder may be software on a computer or a hosted service that plays uploaded recordings. The relevant measure is sustained upload capacity at the encoder’s location—not the plan’s advertised download speed.
- An eligible YouTube channel with live streaming enabled.
- An encoder and a stable connection from its location to your router and Airtel service.
- A stream key from YouTube Live Control Room. Treat it like a password.
- Music you are authorized to use in a livestream, with any required rights-holder allowlisting arranged.
- A recovery plan and a local recording if retaining a copy is important.
YouTube requires channels to be verified, to have had no live-streaming restrictions in the prior 90 days, and for the creator to be at least 16. First-time activation of live streaming can take up to 24 hours. See YouTube’s live-streaming eligibility requirements.

Check whether your Airtel connection can sustain the stream
Airtel advertises plan speeds as “up to” values. Its terms say actual speed depends on local feasibility and network availability, and include fair usage policy provisions. Those statements do not establish your sustained upload speed or guarantee uninterrupted service. Check your current local plan and terms on Airtel’s broadband plans page and Airtel’s broadband terms.

- Connect the streaming computer in the place where it will run the encoder. If practical, connect it to the router by Ethernet; a Cat 6 cable is one possible option, not a required YouTube setting or a cure for an ISP outage.
- Run upload speed tests from that computer at several times, including the hours when you expect the stream to be live. A single result is not proof of continuous capacity.
- Choose a video bitrate that fits the lower, repeatable results rather than the best peak. Include audio and any backup stream bitrate in the total if you use failover.
- Leave additional capacity for fluctuations and other household traffic. YouTube recommends 20% upload bandwidth beyond the total stream bitrate; this is guidance, not a guarantee against disruptions. Review YouTube’s network tips.
- Run a test using similar audio, visuals, and motion, then watch YouTube’s stream health and encoder messages. Adjust quality downward if YouTube reports instability.
A wired connection can avoid some local wireless variability, but it cannot prevent an Airtel network interruption, power failure, router fault, or other loss of connectivity. YouTube warns that a connectivity disruption can break a live stream.
Configure YouTube and the encoder
Create the stream and protect the key
- Open YouTube Live Control Room, create or schedule a stream, and select the encoder workflow. YouTube’s supported broadcast approaches also include webcam and mobile; an encoder is the relevant path for a produced stream.
- Copy the stream URL and stream key from YouTube into the encoder’s streaming settings. Keep the key private. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube rather than continuing to use a compromised key.
- Configure the encoder for the output resolution and bitrate your measured upload can sustain. Do not assume an Airtel plan’s “up to” speed can support a particular resolution.
Use compatible video and audio settings
YouTube supports RTMP/RTMPS ingest and recommends RTMPS. For video, YouTube supports H.264 and recommends constant bitrate (CBR) encoding. Set a two-second keyframe interval and do not exceed four seconds. For audio, YouTube lists AAC or MP3; its advanced recommendations specify 128 Kbps for stereo audio. Do not treat a successful initial connection as proof that the stream will remain healthy for 24 hours. Check stream health during the test and after going live, and respond to warnings by lowering the bitrate or resolution, reducing competing upload traffic, or investigating the local connection.
Clear music rights before broadcasting
You need the rights to use every track in a live broadcast. YouTube scans live feeds for third-party copyrighted content and may interrupt or terminate a stream. Even if you have a licence, a rights holder may need to allowlist your channel for the stream to proceed without an automated interruption. YouTube explains this in its copyright guidance for live streams.

YouTube’s livestream terms require the content provider to have the necessary rights for live content, including music licensing rights. An ordinary personal music-streaming subscription should not be assumed to grant broadcast or livestream rights. Confirm the licence’s scope and any channel allowlisting with the relevant rights holders before starting.
Plan for outages and YouTube archiving
A 24/7 broadcast depends on more than the broadband plan: the encoder, power, router, and internet connection all need to keep working. Keep a local recording if the source material or a complete copy matters, and decide how you will restart or recover the stream after an interruption. The available Airtel plan information does not establish uninterrupted service for an individual connection.

YouTube says streams under 12 hours can be automatically archived, while streams longer than 12 hours may not be captured at all. Do not rely on one 24-hour session to produce a complete replay; preserve a local recording if you need one. See YouTube’s livestream archiving guidance.

Troubleshoot common problems
YouTube reports unstable stream health
- Likely cause: The encoder’s total bitrate is too close to, or above, the upload capacity available at that time.
- Try: Lower the bitrate or resolution, stop other upload-heavy activity, retest at the encoder location, and preserve YouTube’s recommended 20% headroom.
The encoder cannot connect
- Likely cause: The stream URL or key is incorrect, the stream has not been created or started correctly, or the connection is unavailable.
- Try: Check the URL and key in Live Control Room, confirm the encoder is configured for the selected stream, and verify the computer can reach the internet. If the key may have been exposed, reset it.
A music stream is interrupted or terminated
- Likely cause: YouTube detected third-party copyrighted content or the rights holder has not allowlisted the channel where required.
- Try: Stop broadcasting the disputed material until you have confirmed the live-use rights and any allowlisting with the rights holder.
The 24-hour broadcast has no complete replay
- Likely cause: YouTube may not capture streams longer than 12 hours.
- Try: Keep a local recording when a full replay is required; do not count on a single 24-hour session archive.
