Build the image layout in HTML, render it with a screenshot API, then inspect the result against the target marketplace’s current rules and the real product. A screenshot API renders pixels; it does not verify product accuracy or certify that an image will be accepted. For Amazon.in in particular, a designed graphic may be unsuitable as the main image, which has strict composition rules.
Start with the marketplace and image role
Before writing HTML, decide where the image will appear and what it is meant to show. Amazon.in distinguishes the MAIN image—the first image on the detail page and in search results—from additional images. Requirements can differ by image role and product category, so do not treat one template as universally compliant.
Use an accurate image of the actual product and verified product facts. The API can arrange an image and text, but it cannot establish whether a colour, quantity, accessory, feature, or claim is true. Keep destination-specific elements separate in your template so you can adapt it for another marketplace.
What Amazon.in requires for product images
Amazon Seller Central India says, “Every product requires at least one compliant main image.” Its guidance says the main image must accurately represent the product, show the product at 85% of the image, keep the entire product in frame, and show only one unit and included accessories. It also prohibits misleading or temporary placeholders.

For images generally, Amazon’s guide prohibits inaccurate content and generally disallows text or pricing details, review imagery, seller-specific information, and Amazon marks or badges. Additional image roles may allow other views or product details; apply the guidance for the specific image role and category rather than carrying main-image rules over indiscriminately.

The reviewed Amazon pages do not state a publication year for these specifications. Check the live Seller Central guidance before uploading, especially if the image is for a category with additional rules.

Build and render the image
Choose HTML input or capture a URL
Use HTML input when you need a controlled graphic with a fixed layout. A fixed canvas and explicit CSS dimensions make the intended composition easier to manage. Keep product imagery and text in separate elements, and leave marketplace-specific content out of templates where policy forbids it.
URL capture is useful when the layout already exists on a web page. In either case, check that the rendered content has finished loading and that the capture has the intended crop, dimensions, and output format. ScreenshotOne’s documentation describes URL and HTML input and output formats including PNG, JPEG/JPG, and WebP. For larger HTML or Markdown, its documentation recommends sending JSON in a POST body rather than placing the content in a query string; its getting-started guide states a maximum POST body of 100 MiB. Confirm current behavior in the vendor’s live docs before deployment.

Inspect before uploading
- Open the saved image and confirm its actual pixel dimensions and file format.
- Check that the product is fully visible, correctly represented, and not accidentally cropped or obscured.
- Review text legibility, image sharpness, colour, and any browser artifacts or missing assets.
- Check the image against the policy for its marketplace, product category, and image role. A successful render is not marketplace approval.
- Upload through the marketplace’s current seller workflow and review any validation feedback.
Flipkart: verify the visual policy separately
Flipkart’s Listing Management API documentation confirms that listing data can include a conditional product_image_url field. Its Create Listings API describes JSON requests and notes that listing rules can change and errors should be handled explicitly. Those API pages do not establish current image dimensions, accepted formats, composition rules, or other visual acceptance criteria.
