To use a Logitech steering wheel on a Windows PC, connect its USB cable and required power supply, install the software Logitech lists for your exact model, confirm the wheel and pedals respond in G HUB and Windows, then assign the controls in your racing game. The G29, G920, and G923 share some setup steps, but not every model instruction or accessory connection is interchangeable.
Before connecting: identify the wheel and check compatibility
Find the model name printed on the wheel base, then open its current Logitech support and downloads page. Software guidance can differ by model and release date, so do not assume that a download recommended for one Logitech wheel applies to another.
Logitech’s specifications for the G920 and the Xbox/PC version of the G923 list Windows 10 and Windows 11, USB connection, G HUB support, and games that support Logitech force-feedback wheels. Those details apply to the specified models and version; they are not a compatibility guarantee for every Logitech wheel or racing title. Check your game’s current control documentation as well. G920 specifications · G923 Xbox/PC specifications
Logitech’s older G29/G920 operating-system guidance listed Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, and 10 at the time and said Logitech Gaming Software (LGS) 8.70 or later was needed for full functionality. That release-era information does not establish current support for those older Windows versions. Use the current support page for your exact wheel rather than treating the legacy article as current software advice. Logitech operating-system guidance for G29/G920

Connect the wheel and install its software
- Connect the wheel’s power supply, if the model uses one. Then connect its USB cable directly to a USB port on the PC. Logitech’s first connection checks include verifying that the wheel is powered and connected. The G920 specification lists a 24 V, 1.75 A adapter; check your own model’s documentation rather than applying that adapter specification to another wheel. Logitech connection troubleshooting · G920 specifications
- Set the G29’s platform switch to PS4 for PC use. This is Logitech’s specific instruction for the G29; do not treat it as a setting for the G920 or G923. Logitech G29/G920 LGS sensitivity guidance
- Install the software listed for your exact model. The cited G920 and G923 specifications identify G HUB support. Older G29/G920 guidance discusses LGS, but that release-era information is not a universal recommendation to install LGS today. Follow the current model-specific support page.
- Open G HUB and check detection. Confirm that the wheel appears and that steering, buttons, and pedals register. Then check the Windows controller interface for the device and verify the inputs there before launching the game. Logitech connection troubleshooting
Set up the wheel in your racing game
Open the game’s controls or input settings and select the wheel if it is listed. If it is not, bind the controls manually. Assign steering, throttle, brake, clutch if available, and the buttons you plan to use. Test each input in the game’s control screen, if it provides one.
Windows recognizing the wheel does not guarantee that a particular game supports wheel controls or force feedback. Logitech’s G920 and G923 specifications call for compatible games, so check the title’s own current documentation when the wheel is detected but the game does not respond as expected. Tune steering and pedal settings on a G29 or G920
For a G29 or G920 configured through LGS, Logitech documents steering sensitivity, pedal sensitivity, and wheel operating range. The documented operating range is 40–900 degrees in 10-degree increments, with 900 degrees as the default. Logitech describes operating range changes as global and sensitivity changes as profile-specific. These settings are model- and software-specific; other wheels or software versions may expose different controls. Logitech G29/G920 LGS sensitivity guidance
The G920 specification lists a maximum rotation of 900 degrees. Logitech also lists 900 degrees for the cited Xbox/PC G923 specification. These are product specifications, not independent measurements of handling or performance. G920 specifications · G923 Xbox/PC specifications

Troubleshoot a wheel that is missing or has no force feedback
The wheel does not appear in G HUB or Windows
- Check that the power supply is connected and the wheel is powered.
- Check the USB connection, then reopen G HUB and look for the wheel.
- Test steering, buttons, and pedals in G HUB, then check the Windows controller interface for the device and input response.
These checks follow Logitech’s connection troubleshooting sequence. If the PC still does not detect the wheel, consult the support page for the exact model rather than changing advanced system settings as a first step. Logitech connection troubleshooting
The wheel works, but force feedback does not
For a G29 or G920, Logitech advises checking that steering and force feedback are mapped correctly in the game and, where applicable, in LGS. A wheel can register inputs without a particular game providing suitable force-feedback support, so missing feedback alone does not prove the hardware has failed. Logitech labels its registry instructions as advanced troubleshooting. Do not treat registry editing as a routine first fix; start with power, detection, game compatibility, and control mapping.

Logitech says its RS H-Shifter can connect to an available PC USB port and be configured in the racing game. Logitech describes this PC setup as providing seven forward gears and reverse. Console instructions differ: G-series wheel setups on console require a Logitech G Racing Adapter. Do not apply those console connection steps to a PC. The cited RS H-Shifter guidance does not establish that the Driving Force Shifter connects to a PC in the same way, so check the documentation for the specific shifter and wheel.
