On a supported Galaxy Tab, open Quick Settings and tap Second screen. Then connect from a compatible Windows PC with Windows + K, select the tablet, and set Windows to Extend if you want extra desktop space rather than a duplicate of your PC screen. The setting starts the process; the PC must also support Wireless Display.
Connect your Galaxy Tab to a Windows PC
- On the tablet: Swipe down from the top of the screen to open Quick Settings, then tap Second screen. Leave the Second screen page open while you connect; Samsung says the PC can discover the tablet while that page remains open.
- On the PC: Press Windows + K to open the wireless display connection panel. Alternatively, open Windows Display settings and choose the option to connect to a wireless display.
- Select the tablet: Choose your Galaxy Tab when it appears in the Windows list and follow any on-screen prompts.
- Choose how to use it: In Windows Display settings, select Extend for a separate desktop area or Duplicate to show the same content on both screens.
Samsung says you can use the tablet’s touchscreen to navigate the PC interface. For best results, Samsung recommends keeping the devices close together and connected to the same Wi-Fi network. This setup uses Wireless Display; the cited instructions do not require a cable.
Extend the desktop or mirror it?

Windows also offers a second-screen-only mode, which displays the desktop on the connected screen rather than keeping it on both displays. You can adjust display arrangement, scaling, and resolution in Windows Display settings.
Check compatibility before troubleshooting
Second screen is not a general Android tablet feature. Samsung’s US support page lists Galaxy Tab S7, S8, S9, and S10 devices running One UI 3.1 or later, plus select PCs with Wireless Display running Windows 10 version 2004 or higher. Samsung’s US Connected Experience page describes support for Galaxy Tab S series from S7 onward within its listed feature scope, notes One UI 5.1.1 or later, recommends One UI 6.1.1 or later, and specifies Windows 10 20H2 or later for that experience. Samsung’s regional guidance is not identical. Its Australia support guide is intended for Australian variants and provides regional prerequisites. Check the guidance for your country and confirm your exact tablet model, One UI version, and PC Wireless Display support; eligibility for one region or model should not be assumed for every Galaxy tablet or Windows computer.
If Windows does not show your tablet
- Confirm Second screen is open: Keep that page displayed on the tablet while searching from the PC.
- Check PC support: The computer needs Wireless Display support and a compatible Windows version; not every Windows PC qualifies.
- Improve discovery conditions: Keep the devices close and connect them to the same Wi-Fi network, as Samsung recommends.
- Check model and software eligibility: Compare your tablet and One UI version with Samsung’s support guidance for your region.
If the tablet shows the same picture as the PC
That is the Duplicate mode. Open Windows Display settings and choose Extend to use the tablet as a separate desktop area. Use the display arrangement controls there to position the tablet relative to your PC screen; scaling and resolution are adjustable in the same settings.

Disconnect when you are finished
Open the Windows Windows + K connection panel and disconnect the tablet. Available options and labels can vary by tablet model, software version, and region.
