A CAPTCHA solver API integration typically authenticates with a provider key, submits a challenge-specific task, tracks the returned task ID, and retrieves the result by polling or a callback when supported. Use the result only in a system you own or are explicitly authorized to test: an API’s technical capabilities do not grant permission to automate against someone else’s service or override its terms.
How the API workflow works
The 2Captcha API v2 documentation describes this general sequence. It is one provider’s documented workflow, not a universal API contract; field names, result delivery, and handoff depend on the provider and challenge type.
- Choose a supported task type. Check the provider’s current guide and identify the challenge parameters it requires.
- Submit the task from your backend. Authenticate with the provider’s API key and send a JSON request.
- Record the task ID. A successful response includes a task ID; retain it long enough to check the result.
- Retrieve the result. Poll the result endpoint or use a callback if the provider and your integration support one. Handle errors and timeouts explicitly.
- Use the result only in the authorized test flow. A returned token or answer does not guarantee acceptance by the test page.
- Report outcome feedback when applicable. 2Captcha documents methods named
reportCorrectandreportIncorrect.
The 2Captcha API v2 quick-start identifies https://api.2captcha.com as its main endpoint and describes JSON POST requests. Its quick-start outlines the lifecycle; the createTask reference specifies the task-submission method.
Submit and track a task with 2Captcha API v2
The documented createTask request is a JSON POST to https://api.2captcha.com/createTask. It requires clientKey and a task object; languagePool, callbackUrl, and softId are optional fields. The provider’s successful example includes errorId: 0 and taskId. Exact task properties depend on the challenge-specific guide.

curl -X POST "https://api.2captcha.com/createTask"
-H "Content-Type: application/json"
-d '{
"clientKey": "YOUR_2CAPTCHA_API_KEY",
"task": {
"type": "TASK_TYPE_FROM_CURRENT_PROVIDER_DOCS"
}
}'
This is a request-shape illustration, not a ready-to-run challenge task: replace the task type and add the required fields from the provider’s current documentation. Do not put a real API key in a public webpage or client-side application. Make the request from a server you control, store the key in server-side configuration, and avoid logging it.
After submission, check the response for an error and save the returned task ID. The next request uses that ID with the provider’s getTaskResult method. The provider’s quick-start documents this submit-then-retrieve pattern; consult it for the current request fields and result states rather than assuming that every task is ready immediately.

In production-quality test code, put polling behind a bounded loop: stop when the provider reports a completed result or an error, wait between checks according to its current guidance, and enforce an overall timeout. If you supply a callback URL instead, verify and process callbacks according to the provider’s current documentation. The quick-start establishes the task/result lifecycle, but does not establish a universal polling interval or solve time.
Handle the result only in the matching test workflow
Challenge results are not interchangeable. For example, the 2Captcha reCAPTCHA v2 guide says its returned token can be placed in the g-recaptcha-response form field or passed to a callback. That is a provider-specific example for that challenge—not a general handoff method for other CAPTCHA types or services. Follow the instructions for the exact challenge on your authorized test page: 2Captcha’s reCAPTCHA v2 guide.

Keep a test record of the task ID, task type, timestamps, provider error or completion state, and the test page’s outcome. Redact credentials and avoid retaining challenge data longer than your test needs. If a result is rejected, treat that as a test outcome to investigate, not proof that the provider or the page is at fault.
Choose a task type and provider carefully
2Captcha’s API overview lists categories including reCAPTCHA variants, Turnstile, Arkose, GeeTest, and image or text CAPTCHA tasks. Its capability list can change, so verify current support and required parameters before building against a task type: 2Captcha API overview. A provider’s published task list is a vendor capability statement; it does not independently establish accuracy, performance, legal permission, or suitability for your system.

For an authorized workload, compare providers on the dimensions that affect your implementation:
- Whether the exact challenge type and required parameters are currently supported.
- Whether results are retrieved by polling, callback, or both, and how errors are represented.
- Whether an SDK fits your language or direct HTTP calls are practical; 2Captcha documents client libraries for several languages as well as direct requests.
- How your team will protect credentials, observe task outcomes, and handle timeouts.
- The total cost for your test volume, checked against current provider pricing. No price or performance ranking is established here.
Anti-Captcha also publishes API documentation, but a like-for-like feature, price, or performance comparison is not established here: Anti-Captcha API documentation.

Troubleshoot common integration failures
- The submission returns an error instead of a task ID: check the API key, endpoint, JSON format, and required fields for the selected task. The
createTaskmethod can return an error code rather than a task ID; consult its current reference. - The result is not ready: treat task processing as asynchronous. Continue only within a bounded polling window or use a documented callback path; do not assume an immediate result.
- The challenge rejects the result: verify that the task type and parameters match the challenge and that you used the provider’s documented handoff for that challenge. A result is not a guarantee of acceptance.
- Your test times out: distinguish your own request or workflow timeout from the provider’s task state. Record the task ID and error state, stop waiting at your configured deadline, and check current provider guidance before retrying.
- The API key appears in logs or browser code: revoke or rotate exposed credentials through the provider’s account controls, move calls to a server-side component, and redact secrets from logs. This is implementation security guidance; the API’s documented key requirement makes key protection essential.
- A once-supported task no longer works as expected: re-check the provider’s current task catalog and task-specific guide. Capability lists and API details can change.

If your actual goal is to capture clean screenshots of websites—not to integrate a CAPTCHA solver—ScreenshotNeo is a separate website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request can return an image or PDF; it is not a CAPTCHA-solving API.
curl -G "https://api.screenshotneo.com/v1/shot" -d access_key=YOUR_API_KEY --data-urlencode url=https://stripe.com -o shot.webp
See the ScreenshotNeo API documentation for request options. It accepts cookie or consent banners before capture and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets; each step can be turned off. Bot checks or CAPTCHAs, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits are not billed. Its MCP server includes tools for AI agents, and the free plan includes 1,000 screenshots per month with no card; paid plans start at $5 for 3,000 screenshots.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a CAPTCHA solver API guarantee that a challenge will be accepted?
No. A task result is not a guarantee of acceptance by the page; validate the outcome in an authorized test environment.
Can I use a solver API against any website?
No. Use it only on systems you own or are explicitly authorized to test, and follow the applicable service terms.
