On a Mac, use YouTube Studio in a desktop browser to upload your video files, review each video’s details, and add them to a new or existing playlist. You can select up to 15 videos at a time. These steps assume “stream files” means video files; audio-only files need to be turned into a video first.
Before you upload: check what kind of files you have
YouTube’s computer upload flow is for video files. You cannot upload an audio file directly as a YouTube video. For an audio-only recording, use video-editing software to pair the audio with an image, export it as a video file, and upload that video instead. YouTube describes this option in its computer upload guidance.
Also confirm that you own the video and audio rights or have the licenses needed to upload them. If you are uploading material made by someone else, permission to possess a copy does not necessarily include permission to publish it on YouTube.
Upload multiple videos from your Mac
- Open YouTube Studio. In a desktop browser on your Mac, go to YouTube Studio and sign in to the channel that should own the videos.
- Start the upload. Select Create > Upload videos.
- Select the files. In the Mac file picker, select the videos you want to upload. YouTube’s computer help says, “You can upload up to 15 videos at a time.” If you have more, repeat the upload process for another batch.
- Review each video’s details. Open Edit for each selected video and enter or check its own information. A batch upload does not mean the videos share one set of details; review each one separately.
- Add each video to a playlist. In that video’s upload details, use Playlist to select an existing playlist or create one, then apply the selection.
- Set audience and visibility. Complete the audience selection and choose the visibility you want. You can upload a video as Private and make it public later; uploading and publishing are separate actions.
- Finish and verify. Complete the upload flow. When processing has finished, check the videos and their playlist assignment in YouTube Studio.

Create a playlist separately in YouTube Studio
Creating the playlist first is useful if you want to set its title, visibility, and order before adding uploaded videos. In Studio, choose Create > New playlist, enter a title and description, set visibility and ordering, choose Add videos, and then select Create. You can then add the playlist to videos during upload or manage the videos in the playlist afterward.
To check or edit it later, go to Content > Playlists. You can add videos from search, a URL, or your library, and reorder playlist videos by dragging them. The available playlist controls are described in Manage playlists in YouTube Studio – Computer.

Choose the right visibility and workflow
For a playlist you are still reviewing
Keep videos private or unlisted while you check the upload, details, and playlist. You can also schedule a video rather than publishing it immediately. Remember that playlist visibility and the visibility of its individual videos are separate settings; check both before sharing.
For a playlist ready to share
Set the playlist and its videos to the visibility you intend, then verify the result from Content > Playlists. Public videos publish after you save their details and YouTube finishes processing them.

For ordinary creator accounts
Use the standard YouTube Studio upload and playlist steps above. Some YouTube guidance about claiming videos and managing assets is for Content Manager partners, such as qualifying labels or distributors, rather than the standard creator workflow. The specialized guidance is at Upload and claim your videos. Likewise, YouTube’s Course feature has separate eligibility and desktop-only controls; it is not required to create a standard playlist. Troubleshoot common upload and playlist problems
- The file does not appear in the picker: Confirm you are selecting a video file, not an audio-only recording. Convert audio to a video with an image before uploading.
- You have more than 15 videos: Select and upload up to 15 in one batch, then repeat with the next group.
- A video is missing from the playlist: Reopen the video’s details and check its Playlist selection, or add it from the playlist editor under Content > Playlists.
- The playlist order is wrong: Open the playlist in Studio and drag the videos into the intended order.
- The video is not publicly viewable: Check the video’s visibility as well as the playlist’s visibility. A successful upload does not automatically make a video public.
- You are uploading content you did not create: Check that you have the rights or licenses required to upload it. YouTube’s rights guidance is available in its computer upload help.
