Update a Logitech G29 through Logitech G HUB if the software detects the wheel and offers an update. Keep the wheel’s USB and power connections in place until G HUB finishes, but understand that Logitech’s reviewed support pages do not provide a G29-specific interruption-safe procedure or guarantee that an update cannot brick the wheel. The safest approach is to use only Logitech’s documented software and avoid forcing an update when G HUB does not offer one.
What G29 firmware is listed, and where to update it
Logitech’s release notes list G29 firmware version 164.1.11 in G HUB version 2026.1, released February 3, 2026. The listed change improves authentication stability in PS5 mode. The same release-notes page lists G HUB version 2026.6, dated September 2, 2026; that later release listing does not itself establish a newer G29 firmware version. Logitech G HUB release notes
G HUB is the documented software context for G29 firmware updates. Logitech’s reviewed support material does not describe a complete, G29-specific firmware-update workflow, so follow the prompts G HUB actually displays rather than looking for undocumented flashing modes.

- Confirm the device is a Logitech G29 Driving Force wheel. Logitech lists support for Windows 10 and Windows 11, macOS, and PlayStation 3, 4, and 5. On Mac, Logitech specifies G HUB for firmware updates only. Logitech G29 specifications
- Install or open Logitech G HUB from Logitech’s official software page. Logitech software downloads
- Connect the wheel directly to the computer, not through a USB hub. Connect its power adapter directly to a stable wall outlet. Logitech recommends avoiding USB hubs and using a direct outlet in G29 connection and power troubleshooting guidance. Logitech G29 troubleshooting
Update G29 firmware through G HUB
- Open G HUB on the computer and connect the G29 directly by USB, with its power adapter connected.
- Wait for G HUB to detect the wheel. If it presents a firmware update, follow the on-screen prompts.
- Leave the USB and power connections in place while G HUB reports that the update is in progress. This is a prudent precaution; Logitech’s reviewed G29 support pages do not state it as a formal firmware procedure.
- Wait until G HUB indicates it has finished before disconnecting the wheel.
- Check whether G HUB detects the wheel and whether it operates normally. If it is not detected, Logitech’s troubleshooting guidance suggests trying another USB port and testing the device on a computer. Logitech G29 troubleshooting
If G HUB does not offer an update or the wheel stops responding
No update appears
Do not force a firmware file from an unverified download. Logitech says its legacy Firmware Update Tool is no longer supported or maintained. Logitech’s general recommendation to use Logi Options+ applies to devices that it supports; the reviewed sources do not establish G29 firmware-update support in Logi Options+. The wheel is not detected or becomes unresponsive
Do not experiment with unofficial firmware or assume an unverified recovery method is safe. Try the basic connection checks Logitech documents—direct USB instead of a hub, another USB port, and testing on a computer. If the wheel remains unresponsive, contact Logitech support or check warranty coverage. Logitech does not promise in the reviewed sources that a G29 firmware update can never brick the wheel, nor do those sources validate a recovery procedure.

The G29’s platform switch is behind the RPM indicator lights and must be set before connecting the wheel to a gaming platform. Logitech says to select PS4 when using the wheel on PC. On PS3, supported games identify it as a Driving Force GT; the clutch, RPM lights, and optional shifter do not function in that setup.
