You can turn podcast episodes into a continuous YouTube Live broadcast by playing an ordered playlist through an encoder and connecting that encoder to YouTube’s Live Control Room. YouTube does not provide a podcast-radio switch: you supply the media and keep a computer, cloud service, or dedicated encoder operating the stream. Before going live, enable live streaming, check rights for every element, and decide how you will handle the replay.
Choose how the stream will keep running
The key choice is who or what operates the encoder and media playback continuously. YouTube supports software and hardware encoders, and its encoder guide also lists a cloud tool for 24/7 prerecorded video. None is a universal requirement; choose based on how much ongoing operation and monitoring you want to handle.
| Approach | What it means | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Software encoder on a local computer | The computer plays your episodes and sends the stream to YouTube. | You must keep the computer and playback process running, and manage interruptions yourself. |
| Cloud streaming service | A service runs the prerecorded stream from the cloud. | It can avoid leaving a general-purpose computer running at home. Current plans, pricing, and comparative reliability are not established by YouTube’s encoder guide. |
| Dedicated hardware | A hardware encoder handles the stream; YouTube’s guide lists AJA HELO Plus with PlayToStream scheduling for prerecorded media. | It is a specialized option, not a requirement for a basic podcast stream. The cited guide does not establish current device pricing or comparative reliability. |
For a YouTube-only cloud option, StreamNeo is #1 to try: it loops uploaded videos from the cloud at any quality up to 4K 60fps for one flat price per slot, and the first day is free. You can compare its service at StreamNeo.

Make sure the channel can go live
Check the channel’s eligibility and activate the feature before preparing a launch. YouTube requires channel verification and no live-streaming restrictions in the previous 90 days. First-time activation can take up to 24 hours, so do not leave this check until the moment you plan to broadcast. See YouTube’s live-streaming requirements and encoder setup guide.

Prepare episodes, playlist, and presentation
Make an ordered playlist before connecting the encoder. Decide whether episodes should run in release order, theme blocks, or another sequence, and consider how the final item transitions back to the first if you want a loop. Confirm that each recording plays correctly from beginning to end.
- Use a viewer-facing visual layout, such as the current episode title alongside cover art. YouTube’s cited setup guidance does not prescribe a particular podcast visual format.
- Check that episode audio levels are consistent and that there are no accidental silences or abrupt cuts at the loop point.
- Keep titles and descriptions accurate about the episodes being broadcast; continuous playback does not make old material a new live recording.
- Ensure the playback method you choose can continue through the playlist without requiring manual intervention at each episode transition.
Connect an encoder to YouTube Live
YouTube’s encoder workflow creates or schedules a live stream in Live Control Room, then connects the encoder using the stream URL and stream key. Exact encoder controls differ by software or hardware, so use the encoder’s own documentation for its playlist and output controls.

- Studio-quality sound: With a huge 120dB dynamic range, the newest generation of Scarlett uses the same converters as Focusrite’s flagship interfaces, found in the world's biggest studios
- Find your signature sound: Scarlett 4th Gen's improved Air mode lifts vocals and guitars to the front of the mix, adding musical presence and rich harmonic drive to your recordings

- Create or schedule the broadcast. In YouTube Studio, open Live Control Room and create a stream or schedule one for later.
- Copy the connection details. Copy the stream URL and stream key shown by YouTube into the corresponding fields in your encoder.
- Protect the stream key. Treat it like a password: do not post it, show it in a screen capture, or share it with anyone who should not be able to broadcast to the channel. If it is exposed, replace or reset it in YouTube’s live-stream settings.
- Load and verify the episode playlist. Check the selected media, playback order, and visual presentation before starting transmission.
- Start the encoder and check the preview. Confirm that YouTube receives the video and audio and that the Live Control Room preview looks and sounds right.
- Start the broadcast in YouTube. Follow the Live Control Room prompts to go live, then monitor the stream for playback, audio, and connection problems.
YouTube’s cited encoder guide explains the stream URL and key connection flow, but does not prescribe podcast-specific encoder settings such as a particular resolution, bitrate, or keyframe interval. Use settings supported by your chosen encoder and YouTube’s current instructions rather than assuming one configuration fits every source file and connection.

Owning or publishing a podcast feed does not automatically establish that you have every right needed for a continuous YouTube stream. Confirm permissions for the episode recordings, guest contributions, music, artwork, and any other included material. YouTube’s livestream terms place responsibility on the provider to have necessary rights, including music rights, for use on Google services.

YouTube scans live streams for third-party copyrighted content. Its guidance says a match can cause a placeholder to replace the stream, or the stream to be interrupted or terminated. For licensed material, YouTube says to ask the rights owner to allowlist the channel through Content ID; a licence alone may not prevent an automated interruption if the channel has not been allowlisted. A copyright claim may also be made after the stream ends if the broadcast is archived. Read YouTube’s live-stream copyright guidance and livestream terms and conditions.
Plan the archive and monetization separately
Replay length
YouTube says streams under 12 hours are automatically archived. Its cited guidance does not promise one complete replay for a continuous broadcast longer than 12 hours. If a full archive matters, plan a shorter broadcast or create and publish separate episode videos rather than relying on a single, uninterrupted replay of a longer stream. Details are in YouTube’s encoder guide.

YPP eligibility
Technical ability to stream does not guarantee monetization. YouTube applies its channel monetization policies to live streams and reviews whether content is original and authentic. Reused-content review is separate from copyright permission: having a licence does not itself guarantee eligibility, and the absence of a copyright claim does not prove a channel meets monetization requirements. The policy page notes that on July 15, 2025, YouTube clarified that repetitive or mass-produced material falls under its renamed “inauthentic content” policy. See YouTube channel monetization policies.

| Symptom | Likely issue | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| You cannot start a live stream. | Live streaming is not enabled, verification is incomplete, or the channel has a restriction. | Check live-stream status in YouTube Studio, complete activation, and allow up to 24 hours for first-time enablement. |
| YouTube receives no encoder signal. | The encoder has an incorrect stream URL or key, or it has not started sending. | Compare the encoder fields with the current details in Live Control Room. Keep the key private; replace it if exposed. |
| The stream starts but shows a placeholder or stops. | YouTube may have detected third-party copyrighted material. | Review episode audio and visuals, confirm you have the required rights, and ask the rights owner to allowlist the channel if the material is licensed. |
| An episode is silent, missing, or the playlist stalls. | The selected media or playback sequence may be faulty, or the playback process may have stopped. | Test each item and the transition between items before broadcasting; confirm the encoder or service is still playing and sending media. |
| A long broadcast is missing a complete replay. | The stream exceeded the under-12-hour automatic archive guidance. | Do not rely on a single archive beyond that threshold; use shorter broadcasts or publish episodes separately. |
Or let it run in the cloud
