To enable YouTube live streaming, verify your channel by phone in YouTube Studio, then check Feature eligibility and any channel notices. YouTube also requires that the channel have no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days. If you want to stream from the YouTube mobile app, there is an additional 50-subscriber minimum and first-time activation can take up to 24 hours.
Verify your channel and check live-streaming eligibility
- On a computer, open YouTube Studio.
- In the left menu, select Settings, then Channel, then Feature eligibility.
- Open the phone-verification section, select Verify phone number, and follow the prompts.
- Return to Feature eligibility and check the live-streaming status. Review any Studio notices for restrictions or other steps YouTube says are required.
YouTube says a channel needs to be verified and have no live-streaming restrictions in the past 90 days to live stream. Phone verification is available in Studio; for a Brand Account, an owner or manager can verify its channel, while for a channel without a Brand Account, only the owner can do so. Verification does not override a restriction. YouTube says live-streaming access may be temporarily or permanently disabled for reasons that include age and copyright restrictions. Choose how to go live
YouTube lists three routes: mobile, webcam, and encoder. The mobile app has extra eligibility rules; the general computer overview does not state the same 50-subscriber minimum for webcam or encoder streams. Follow the eligibility status shown for your channel in Studio.

These are different ways to broadcast, not prerequisites you must all complete. YouTube’s official overview describes the webcam and encoder routes, but the exact computer broadcast controls can vary with the current Studio interface. YouTube’s computer live-streaming tips
Start a first mobile live stream
- First meet the mobile requirements: at least 50 subscribers, phone-verified channel, no live-streaming restriction in the previous 90 days, and a compatible device.
- Allow up to 24 hours for first-time mobile live-stream access to become available. YouTube says later mobile streams can start instantly once access has been granted.
- In the YouTube app, tap Create → Live, enter the stream details, and tap Go live when ready.
YouTube’s mobile guidance says channels with more than 50 but fewer than 1,000 subscribers may have limited viewers, and their live-stream archives may be private by default. After a channel reaches 1,000 subscribers, lifting the audience limitation may take several weeks. Those audience safeguards are separate from enabling mobile access. If “Go Live” is missing
- Phone verification is incomplete: Go to Studio → Settings → Channel → Feature eligibility and finish the phone-verification prompts.
- You recently verified the channel: Check Studio again and allow time for access to update. For the first mobile stream, YouTube says activation may take up to 24 hours.
- You are trying to stream from the mobile app with fewer than 50 subscribers: The mobile route requires at least 50 subscribers. The mobile threshold should not be treated as a stated requirement for every computer route.
- The channel has a live-streaming restriction: Review notices in Studio and YouTube’s restriction guidance. Verification does not remove a temporary or permanent restriction.
- You meet the mobile threshold but reach fewer than 1,000 subscribers: Mobile access and audience limits are different issues; YouTube may limit viewers and make archives private by default in this range.
For age-related situations, YouTube’s guidance says people under 16 may participate from an adult-owned account only if the adult is visibly present. Check the current channel status and applicable guidance for the specific account. YouTube’s live-streaming restrictions guidance
