Turn off a puzzle game’s alerts in your phone’s notification settings, then manage purchases separately through your device’s store or parental controls. Disabling notifications does not block purchases, and purchase restrictions do not silence alerts. The exact menus and options depend on the operating system, software version, account setup, and—in family controls—age and region.
Turn off notifications from a puzzle game
You can usually disable every alert from a game in the phone’s settings. If you only want to stop promotional messages but keep useful game alerts, first look in the game itself for notification preferences. The choices available are specific to each app.
iPhone or iPad
- Open Settings > Notifications.
- Select the puzzle game.
- Turn off Allow Notifications.
Labels can vary by iOS or iPadOS version. If you do not see these options, search Settings for “Notifications.” To keep some alerts, check the game’s own settings before switching off all notifications. Apple’s developer guidance says apps and games must provide an in-app settings screen for changing choices about informational or marketing notifications, but it does not establish that any particular game offers separate alert categories. Android
A common route is Settings > Notifications > App notifications, then select the game and switch its notifications off. Menu names and locations vary among Android versions and phone manufacturers. On some phones, you can also long-press a game notification and open its notification settings. For a child’s supervised Android device, use the notification instructions linked from Google Play Help’s Family Link guidance.

Restrict in-app purchases on iPhone or iPad
Apple’s documented Screen Time control can prevent in-app purchases. Screen Time must be enabled, and a Screen Time passcode may be requested depending on the device’s setup.
- Open Settings > Screen Time.
- Turn on Screen Time if it is not already enabled, then open Content & Privacy Restrictions.
- Tap iTunes & App Store Purchases.
- Tap In-app Purchases, then choose Don’t Allow.
Apple’s About In-App Purchases guidance describes this Screen Time route. The same page discusses purchase authentication options, including requiring a password for every purchase or every 15 minutes; compatible devices require authentication for each transaction when biometric authentication is used. These are authentication settings, not the same as blocking in-app purchases.

Use approval instead of blocking eligible child purchases
For a child in Family Sharing, Ask to Buy can send eligible purchase or download requests to a parent or guardian for approval. Apple says availability and defaults can vary with the child’s age and region. The family’s software versions can also affect the controls shown: Apple’s current parental-control guidance describes an updated experience for compatible devices, while older Screen Time controls remain available when the family cannot update every device. Manage purchases on a child’s Android account
For a child’s Google account, Google Play offers Family Link purchase approvals and content filters. These controls apply within their documented Google Play and account scope; they should not be treated as a universal switch that blocks every possible transaction in every game.

- Open the Google Play Help instructions for managing a child’s Google Play apps.
- Use Family Link and Google Play controls available for the child’s account to review eligible purchase approvals and content filters.
- Check the account and device settings shown on screen; available controls depend on the account and setup.
For an account you manage yourself, review Google Play’s purchase-authentication settings and any account or purchase options inside the game. Do not assume a Play setting governs transactions handled outside Google Play.

These controls solve different problems: silence alerts with notification settings, restrict or review eligible purchases with store and family controls, and use game settings when you want more selective notification choices. The settings visible to you can vary by software version, account configuration, child age, and region.
