There is no single Samsung Galaxy setting that removes every ad. The right fix depends on where it appears: notifications, a full-screen overlay, a browser, a charging lock screen, personalized promotions, or the Home-screen news feed. Start with the matching section below; settings and labels can vary by model, region, and One UI version.
Identify the kind of ad before changing settings
An ad on the Lock screen or over another app is not, by itself, proof that Samsung placed it there. Samsung support says unexpected lock-screen ads commonly come from third-party apps or browser settings. Its support page states, “Samsung does not place ads on the lock screen.” Samsung’s lock-screen ad guidance explains how to investigate those sources.

Stop ads sent as notifications
When an ad appears in the notification shade, identify which app sent it before changing settings. You can then turn off that app’s notifications or uninstall the app if you no longer want it. On supported versions, open Settings > Notifications > App notifications, select the app, and change its notification controls. Investigate full-screen ads and screen overlays
If an ad covers the Home screen, Lock screen, or another app, check apps installed or used shortly before the ads began. Remove likely sources one at a time and watch whether the problem stops. This is a troubleshooting process, not a single setting that blocks every overlay. Samsung recommends investigating third-party apps and, when an overlay makes normal use difficult, using Safe mode to help isolate the cause. Samsung’s guidance for unexpected pop-up ads
- Review recently installed or recently active apps and note which ones could be responsible.
- Uninstall one likely app, then observe whether the ads stop before removing another candidate.
- If ads prevent you from using settings normally, follow Samsung’s Safe mode instructions for your Galaxy model to help determine whether a downloaded app is involved.
Block pop-ups in Chrome or Samsung Internet
Browser settings apply to browsing activity, not ads inside other apps or a phone-wide overlay.

Google Chrome
In Chrome, open Settings > Site settings > Pop-ups and redirects and turn the control off. Samsung’s instructions also list Chrome’s Ads setting as a browser control to turn off. Exact labels can vary with the browser version. Samsung’s browser ad instructions
Samsung Internet
In Samsung Internet, open Settings > Sites and downloads > Block pop-ups and enable the control. To use an ad blocker, open the browser’s Ad blockers page and choose and enable a compatible blocker. Samsung’s instructions describe the option without endorsing a particular blocker. These controls address browser content, not ads displayed by unrelated apps. Samsung Internet settings guidance

Turn off Samsung Global Goals charging-screen ads
If an ad appears on the Lock screen while the phone is charging, check whether Samsung Global Goals is installed and its charge-screen ads option is enabled. Open Samsung Global Goals > Settings and turn off the charge-screen ads option. Samsung uses different wording in different regions, including “Charge screen ads” and “Global Goals whilst charging.” UK instructions and Samsung Australia’s Global Goals setup guidance
Reduce personalized Samsung promotions
If you mean targeted promotions rather than all ads, Samsung’s regional instructions list Settings > Privacy > Customisation Service, followed by the Customise this phone and Customised ads and direct marketing switches, and an Ads personalization opt-out. The route and labels are region-sensitive, so they may differ or be unavailable on your Galaxy.

Turning off ad targeting is not the same as removing every ad. Samsung Electronics’ 2025 Sustainability Report says users who turn off targeted advertising receive generalized ads instead. Remove or change the Home-screen News or Discover panel
If the content you want to remove is the News or Discover feed panel, touch and hold a blank area of the Home screen, swipe to the farthest page, then use the switch to turn off Samsung News and Google Discover or select the service you prefer. If a setting or label is missing
- Confirm the Galaxy model and One UI version; the same control can appear under a different label or path.
- Use the section that matches how the ad arrives. Browser filters will not silence an app notification, and notification controls will not block browser pop-ups.
- For an unexplained overlay, focus on downloaded apps rather than assuming a single Samsung setting will remove it.
Samsung’s cited support pages are regional instructions for Australia, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, the UK, and the US; their availability and labels should not be assumed identical across every model or market.
