Before requesting LG warranty service, identify your appliance’s exact model, record the symptom and any displayed error code, and check the matching LG Help Library article and owner’s manual. Follow only the checks given for that model and problem; appliance troubleshooting is not universal. Then check the product’s warranty terms and, if the problem remains, submit a repair request through LG.
Start with the model and the exact symptom
Find the model number on the appliance or in its documentation, then write down what happens, when it happens, and any error code or indicator shown. Specific details help you find relevant guidance and give LG useful information if you request service.
In the U.S., LG’s Help Library lets you select a product or search by keyword, and provides access to manuals and other support. Search for your appliance and symptom rather than applying advice written for a different product.

Open the owner’s manual for your exact model and look for its troubleshooting section. Carry out only the checks that the manual recommends for the symptom you have. The available examples below come from an LG dishwasher manual; they do not apply automatically to refrigerators, washers, ranges, or other LG appliances.

Dishwasher examples from an LG manual
In its “Before Calling for Service” section, the LG dishwasher owner manual says: “If the appliance does not function properly or does not function at all, check the following before you call for service.” Its examples include checking that the start button was pressed, the door is latched, and power is connected. For standing water, it lists a kinked or clogged drain hose.
These are limited to the manual’s dishwasher guidance. Do not use them as a general checklist for another appliance or model. Do not open panels, handle wiring, bypass safeguards, or attempt invasive repairs on the strength of broad troubleshooting advice.

Check your product’s warranty before choosing a service route
Use LG’s warranty lookup for your exact product and read the detailed terms that apply. Coverage depends on the product and warranty terms. LG says the warranty period begins on the original delivery or purchase date.
Keep purchase details available. A reviewed LG dishwasher warranty document requires proof of original retail purchase showing the product model and purchase date, but that requirement should not be assumed to describe every appliance category’s warranty. Follow the documentation requirements in your own product’s terms.

Choose the relevant LG repair path
LG’s U.S. repair request page offers warranty and flat-rate repair routes. The online process asks you to select a product and symptom, provide contact details, and proceed through request status and service-date review. Available services, eligibility, and fees depend on the specific case, so confirm the current details with LG rather than assuming a repair is covered.
If your appliance may still be under warranty
Check the exact warranty terms first, then use the warranty-service route if your product and issue appear to qualify. Have the model number, symptom, purchase or delivery information, and any required proof of purchase ready. LG makes the coverage decision under the applicable terms.

If the appliance is out of warranty
LG says Direct Service is available for out-of-warranty repairs. Its page mentions a diagnostic fee that may be waived if you proceed with the repair, and notes that the fee can change. Confirm the current fee and repair cost with LG before booking.

- The appliance’s exact model number.
- A clear description of the symptom and when it occurs.
- Any displayed code or indicator.
- Purchase or delivery details and proof of purchase, if required by your warranty terms.
- Your preferred contact details and availability for service scheduling.
Give LG the checks you already completed and their results. This keeps the service request tied to your appliance and helps avoid repeating steps that do not apply to its model or symptom.
